Good morning from a very wet Bristol.it has been raining gently for the last 3 hours at least; good, gentle, wetting rain, none of the flooding, dramatic storms that have been affecting other parts.
A quilt yesterday turned quite busy. I went to Tesco with my upstairs neighbour. We’re becoming quite friendly; we’re going to a concert together later in the week. Coffee, biggish shop. I bought two quite unnecessary hanging baskets - couldn’t resist them. They look pretty on my wall.
In the afternoon, I went up the road to a flooring company, where I chose laminate for the hall and living room, carpet for the bedrooms, and Lino for the bathroom. The laminate is discontinued so heavily reduced!
Then I met two of the inmates who are concerned about the supposed group TV licence for over 75s to be paid by the management. Some have been receiving threatening letters. I’m not involved but sympathise.
Finally, a church lady who has a different T’ai Chi class, came to give me the details!
Today, quiet again 🤣. Just the floor person measuring and estimating.
The kalu family, the Urms family, the Marydolls and others are much in my heart and prayers.

And Mick. I hope he’s ok and on the mend.

Good morning from a thundery South Downs. The dog is quite deaf, so hasn’t heard it yet and still relaxed.

Looks as if rain is forecast until mid afternoon, so I shall do a bit of housework I think. Need also to take a dress in that I hope to wear to a party/barbecue at the weekend.

Cajun salmon with tropical salsa for dinner.

Kind thought to all those in difficulties.

Morning from a thundery S Hants, heavy rain has just stopped. Thanks for opening gMattie, good you’ve a new friend to gad about with.
We went to quiz last night, but i had to retire early fatigued.
Haematology appointment later this morning, I must write a list of questions.
There are some families fighting harsh battles on GM, I’m thinking of them.

Good morning grandMattie and all to follow.
Been awake since 4am after a worrying day yesterday.
My BIL ruptured his achilles tendon yesterday afternoon and spent the rest of the day at the hospital arriving home at midnight in plaster.
While I was commiserating with him news came in that a mutual friend had collapsed and died while on holiday in Canada, he was only 65.
Feels quite humid today so easy day I think.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Good morning, Mattie and all GNs from a cloudy South Yorkshire. We can expect some rain again today. Thinking about Mick and hoping he is doing okay. I didn’t do much but potter yesterday, did an early food shop, cleared up some of the damage the heavy rain had done to some of my plants, and then went for a walk up to the reed bed and back. There are reed warblers - very heartening. One of our neighbours is very ill and we are all very worried about him.
Have the best day you can, folks. Hugs for those who need them.

Good morning from s somerset and we have rain, 17 mm so far to add to the 3.4 mm over the last 4 weeks. It is dull and grey but wonderful. There is no breeze but the thirsty young trees are gently swaying

Yesterday was a lovely and companionable day. Today will be quiet and I need to contact the boiler people to book the annual service for me and a neighbour. I shall enjoy not having much to do and will explore the performances, shows exhibitions etc in our local events week. Diary will be by my side

GM definitely onwards and upwards for you and how nice to be going out with someone who comes back with you to exactly the same block. No walking on your own

Have a lovely day

Just realised. Glastonbury starts tomorrow…. All this rain will turn the fields into mud. Oh dear.
SiL has been working there since the year dot, his father was one of the GPS on site.
Will make it interesting!

Good morning from a damp Torbay after steady rain for much of the night.

It sounds as if you’ve found a good friend in your neighbour, grandMattie. A just reward for the many kindnesses you have bestowed on others in the past.

Yesterday, I set out for my exercise class when the screen in the car announced: No phone found! As I would need it later to collect some items I’d ordered from George (Asda), I turned the car around and returned home. Locking my bag in the car, I went back into the flat. No phone! I even resorted to ringing my mobile from the landline…… nothing! Back in the car, I checked my bag and ….. you've guessed it… there it was! Duh!
Unfortunately, it looks as if it’s no longer linked to the car for hands free use. My DD2 set it up when I changed my phone last year and she said it was complicated! (No hope for me!)

There are worse things in life about which to worry, especially reading recent posts this morning. Thinking of all those who are unwell and hope Mick is ok, although his substitute is doing a very good job!

A good day is wished to all. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

I hope Mick is recovering well.

Good to hear that you are making a friend gM.

My plans for today have been scuppered by a last minute request to babysit so we’re off to the east again.

Thinking about Kalu and Urms, also my sister whose DH is ill.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and dry. GrandMattie I'm glad your neighbour is turning into a friend. Whitewave I love the sound of your dinner! Ash technology keeps evolving and I don't. You have my sympathies.
Yesterday was a good childcare day. A walk to the swings in the morning and dgs2 had a chat with my lovely new neighbours who are proving to be gems. Then later we were in the garden between showers.
Today I anticipate more of the same. I'll have to write a card first for my dd and sil as it's their anniversary today. Nine years married. Have a good day all

Morning all from a very wet and thundery West Oxfordshire . The rain was so loud it woke me. I will pop over to the picture framers some time today. They were shut yesterday. I didn’t realise that shops still closed on a Monday. I have some WI admin to do. It is the monthly meeting tomorrow. Although I am going to the reopening of the National Portrait Gallery (I’m a member) I want to get back home in time. Specially as I missed last month’s meeting due to looking after my granddaughter. Thinking of Mick and Urms. Old age really isn’t for wimps is it?

Grammaretto Tue 20-Jun-23 06:51:52

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Fresh and sunny here.
The garden is happy after much rain

Yesterday was DMiL's funeral and burial.
It was as she would have wanted. she left strict instructions smile followed by a convivial wake back at the house .

I hope Mick is recovering well.
I am sorry you had sad news Harrigran
Good to see you are settling in and making friends gMattie

Thinking of Kalu and Urms .

monk08 Tue 20-Jun-23 06:52:03

Good morning all from a wet Black country.
Boiler being serviced today and then we are going over to our friends in Redditch.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, virtual hugs where needed and may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning from a damp, humid Colchester. It's back to normal today with a volunteer shift at a charity shop. I think I'm almost out of my jetlag fog but will take it easy.
Love to all 🦩 x

Nannagarra Tue 20-Jun-23 07:07:58

Good morning from overcast, fresher Sefton. As well as being a relief, it’s readjusting my considerations of what to pack to go on holiday. Every cloud…
Many thanks for the pointers about Robinsons lemon barley water. A nurse recommended it a few months ago when I had a particularly bad UTI; now I quaff it all day long. For fellow lovers I can endorse the apple and pear version.
Yesterday we received shocking news of a family member ‘s health. I’m trying to keep up this person’s spirits. So far so good.
We have nothing of significance to do today. 🤞it remains that way. Floating on a cloud aka retirement suits me fine.
Thoughts are with those who are unwell, those recovering, Kalu and Urms.

Morning all

It’s very grey here in S E Essex, I do hope the 8yr old GS does not have his sports day cancelled as I was going to wander next door vans cheer him on.

First I shall attack the remaining ironing (not my favourite chore) and ponder over what to cook for dinner.

I do hope Mick is recovering from his op and will join us soon.

(((Hugs))) to dearest Urmstongran and Kalu along with Gingster who are taking care of their loved ones.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good morning grandMattie and all. Thank you for keeping the ball rolling until Mick’s return.

Heavy rain in South Bucks however it should have all cleared by 10.00 and be sunny by the time I go to Rummikub at the WI in the afternoon.

My Italian niece flew back home after a very successful 5 days with me. She bought up all the excellent charity shops in my small riverside town and the next town too ! They don’t have charity shops in Italy. I feel very tired but was happy to see her for the first time in 6 years.

Hugs to the poorly people here.

Gingster Tue 20-Jun-23 07:21:56

Good morning all and the sun was shining when I got up an hour ago. Now it’s cloudy with imminent rain.

We have our sister in laws funeral today. Although we are close to my brother and neice and nephew , SIL kept herself to herself. Nevertheless it will be a tear jerker as nephew (opera singer) will be singing and probably end with ‘Eidelweiss’ - his mums favourite song. 🙏.

Dd is coming here to look after little pooch. She isnt well enough to attend the funeral.

Lots of sadness and poorliness on here at the moment. Let’s try to find some joy. I think we all need it. 🌸

kittylester Tue 20-Jun-23 07:24:27

Good morning all from a rainy North Leicestershire. Good for the newly planted border.

DH is volunteer driving today - he takes people to their radiology appointments and then home again after. I am off to my Sing it Happy choir today and then pootling and faffing.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 20-Jun-23 07:26:33

Good morning GM and all from another sunny day in Cyprus, washing and packing to do today.
We are out of here tomorrow and spending the day in a nearby hotel ready for an early evening flight, I’ll take a book as I doubt we will have wifi there. I’ve saved a good kindle book for the flight home, so I’ll need to save the battery.
All this sitting down isn’t doing me any good, creaks and groans in all my joints, although the owl woke me again last night ( it sounds like a car alarm) so too much sleep hasn’t been a problem here, the cockerel starts at 3.30 with a bit of a strangled cough and takes several attempts before he gets his cock a doodle do out. Then he’s ok for about an hour.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can.
Virtual hugs for those who are unwell, stressed or caring for loved ones.

Marydoll Tue 20-Jun-23 07:34:17

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 16°C.

Thanks for opening up GM and delighted to read your have made new friends.

I have two medical appointments today. I had planned on going on my own and do some gallivanting afterwards, but DH is taking me, as I'm struggling at the moment and unable to do much at all.

I hope Mick is OK and on the mend and my thoughts and prayers are with all those, who are struggling.

brook2704 Tue 20-Jun-23 07:40:08

Good morning everyone from Inverness where the sun is shining and we’ve a good day ahead
So pleased you’ve got a good upstairs neighbour gMattie and your friendship develops well. Hoping mick is doing ok and we hear from him soon
Just pottering around the house and garden this morning and then we’re picking up DGD from school and helping with the after school activities. Hoping that yesterdays rain has watered the garden well and not just made all the weeds grow faster!
Hope all goes well with your appointment today Jax, also yours marydoll too
Gingster a sad day ahead, hoping everything goes as well as it can
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Liberty Tue 20-Jun-23 07:52:36

Good morning from a dry and cloudy Suffolk.

I’m off to Bristol today by train as it is youngest DGD’s end of year( and primary school) play in which she tells me she has an important role. DH staying at home as our dog unable to go into kennels yet because of ruptured ligament in her leg…well perhaps she could but DH very protective of her.

It will be lovely to see them all as we haven’t done so since January. We used to drive to Bristol regularly but haven’t done so now for a couple of years since DH felt he couldn’t do long journeys with him driving ( and I never have).

Your mention of Eidelwiess Gingster reminds me of the funeral of a lovely 93 year old lady who used to come to the second half of the keep fit class. She was a very lively and interesting person still riding her electric bike and playing the viola in a local orchestra. Her favourite song was Eidelwiess and at the end of the service in her church the congregation was asked to sing it which we all did and again for a second time. A lovely end to a service of celebration of a glorious life well lived.

Thinking of those with worries about loved ones.
