Glastonbury 2023 anyone plan to watch?

I watched last night specifically for Sparks, and they were wonderful. Best band of the day. Today I’ll watch out for Lewis Capaldi and Yusuf/Cat Stevens.

Will dip in and out of it. Definitely Paul carrack as we’re going to see him again at the sage. Like the atmosphere.

I saw Christine and the Queens at the Royal Festival Hall last Sunday. One of the best concerts ever. I shall def watch him tonight. I shall also dip in and out though will prob watch most, especially Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam ❤️ I love the exuberance of it. Relief from doom and gloom

Love festivals, it’s on my bucket list but being able to get a ticket is pretty slim. I went to beastival last year on my own it’s in cotswold on Alex James from Blurs farm. I wanted to see chic so I went as they were headlining .I was about 10 back from front of stage loved every minute. Went to see Diana Ross year before at Cambridge festival she was fantastic she was my youth.

Me too, I’m a very old rocker. Both sons love Guns ‘N Roses too, I hope we’re not disappointed.

It's all on iplayer if you've missed any of it, just saying The Foos are an amazing live band they never stop amazing me.

Sparks/Cate Blanchett created, imo a Glastonbury iconic moment. I keep rewatching it. I’ve got that album that they made with Franz Ferdinand but haven’t listened to it in years: must dig it out. Ditto all my old Cat Stevens/Yusuf stuff. DD tells me her sons and their friends just listen to old stuff these days. I thought Arctic Monkeys were very professional and I hadn’t realised what an amazing voice Alex had but I did find them boring and realise why I bought some of their later albums but never really listened to them. I miss the energy they had when they first started out.

Did anyone else enjoy Fred Again? Brilliant, and seems such a lovely man. I think I’ve been to a couple of Glastonburys when it was starting up. I’m 80 now and obviously the memory’s not so good.

No, won’t be watching, not a fan of live music, I know many will think I’m a heathen. Also not a fan of crowds, portaloos, tents or overpriced drinks. Eldest daughter has been several times and loved it. Just not for me!

Watched Foo Fighters last night - brilliant as always and Violet Grohl was an added bonus. Recording it all. Never been - always had a fear of massive crowds but love watching on TV.

I never plan to watch it but get drawn in if I happen to chance on it! Loved the Arctic Monkeys last night! Might have to watch Elton John tomorrow with my sister as my children and I are visiting her for a family event this weekend. I personally am not keen on him (and I think he’s a bit past his best now!) but she is a huge fan! Might catch some other performances if they take my fancy. Would LOVE to go to a smaller festival but Glasto is just too big for me! I’d need decent weather though and nothing whatsoever to do apart from have fun!

Might watch Elton John tomorrow night but will probably have to on catch up as DH won't be interested.

Festivals are my idea of hell and I can't see the attraction of spending 4 days in a field with thousands of others, living in a tent and sharing a portaloo!!!

It has never interested me and I won’t be watching. I would love to have the experience of Glyndebourne one day, though.

I went to the first one, in1970 I think. Mark Bolan played in place if the Kinks who dropped out, thinking it was too small an event! It was then if course. Very basic, cost a £1 if I remember rightly and we only stayed for a day, not sure if it was on for longer. Was called something like the Worthy Farm Folk and Jazz festival.
Would have loved to go back in the 70s but not now although I will watch a few acts on TV. Guns n Roses tonight.
These days my granddaughter and her husband go in their camper van, with a group of friends and they stay for six days and have a high old time. They count it as part of their holidays and the cost certainly puts it on a par.

I agree. PM’s voice was always weak but these days he sounds like his throat has closed up. He doesn’t need the money so must be ego.
He’s not the only one who should retire gracefully though. The Stones have still got it but Jagger has to train like an Olympic athlete to maintain it. Too many of the others are just trading on our memories of them in their heyday I’m afraid.

My son & I would love to have gone to Glasto but I’m too old & he couldnt afford it now with wife & 2 Kids! Best part of Glasto over & done last night with the fantastic Foos! Dave Grohl a long time Hero. So sad without Taylor!

Well I don't agree. I would still go to see Paul. The Beatles were a massive part of my life. He can trade on my memories any day. Why should he give up? If people don't like him they don't have to watch him. Last time I saw Elton on stage (on TV) he sounded awful. I would never call for anyone to stop performing. We saw Elton live a few years ago. He was OK. There was very little engagement with the audience.

Watched the Arctic Monkeys last night.

Obviously everyone's tastes are their own(!) and the Arctic Monkeys are more my children's genre than mine but I thought that the lead singer gave a good performance - as a performer.

They did seem very dreary, dirge-y songs, though and to me all very similar. I wondered how they remembered one from another!

I thought it was expensive but as my daughter said she paid over £100 to see Elton John and the same to see Lizzo so it’s good value. Both of my daughters are there at moment (both in their 30’s) I’d like to go but I hate camping and couldn’t cope with the toilet issues.

Violet has an amazing voice. She did brilliantly.

I've been to lots of concerts, indoor and open air but never a festival and won't be going to one now. I'll watch Elton John and that's about it.

I think the time comes when you’re better being remembered for who you were than what you’ve become.

I’ve always thought the Beatles were over-rated. They were before my time anyway! 😂😂Guns ‘n’ Roses and Elton John on TV for me!
I couldn’t cope with primitive camping and in any case, I don’t like crowds because everyone is always taller than me, so I’d have to sit on someone’s shoulders (brave person😂)!

I think you had to be a sixties person to appreciate the Beatles Tiggy. Over-rated they were not.
