Good morning from a grey Bristol.
It was horrible yesterday and I got soaked when I went with a fellow resident to a “Later Life” thing. The church is getting involved and I wanted to support them. I was very cold too after that.
DD and her SiL came with her 3yo niece came. I gave the child my dish (about 70 pairs) of earrings to “sort out” while her mum and I talked through the type of thing I wanted. I had ideas but needed advice to crystallise my thoughts.
I had a happy afternoon fiddling about on the IKEA website, choosing furniture for living and bed rooms and for my future space once that stud wall is removed. I put it past the AC, DS told me to get what I wanted. Naturally, DD disagreed with what I chose, telling me “there was no way I needed that much storage”….
She did allow me to order a wardrobe though. Having had my clothes packed into all sorts of places for the last 4 months, it’ll be so nice to be all in one place.
Today, church coffee and an empty. I’ll finish my dress though I’m having trouble with the sleeves. I might just not put them in, if they look odd.
Hugs to the poorly and unhappy. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick and everyone from a soggy south Gloucestershire village - I’m definitely not complaining because we badly needed the rain.
Yesterday little happened because it bucketed down virtually all day, the dog wasn’t amused by having a very wet walk so she sulked behind my chair for the entire afternoon and evening (I envy her bladder control!)
I did do a lot of tidying up which was rather satisfying; having been away leaving DH at home, he doesn’t ‘do’ tidying 🤬
Today an early dog walk before the rain returns then I will do the ironing and settle down with my knitting for the TdF (more beautiful scenery I hope!)
Have a lovely weekend 🌹

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Good to see you feeling a bit more chipper, Mick! We have had so much rain in the last twenty four hours that my garden looks positively battered by it. Sometimes you wonder why you bother! I successfully set up my printer yesterday (with a little help from GS on the end of the phone!). It was all so much easier when all you did was press buttons - this thing has no buttons. I still have to set it up on my laptop, but I’m leaving that for a day when I feel more resilient. The laptop and I don’t get along!
Food shopping today, some cleaning and a walk of some sort if the weather allows.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from s somset, yellow wind warning for much of the day and the sky looks iffy, holding rain. Reminds me of the fastnet storms, when we were camping in the south west, one by one, the campers gave up and we were the only ones left

I did enjoy my enforced day staycation at home yesterday, finished a sleeve and started the next one, made bread and so on. I went to tidy my sewing room but it looks neat. I re-discovered a couple of sewing projects that I want to make but the sensible head says to keep them for winter, when I need those all-engrossing projects

What today? Not an outside day, just more of yesterday. Bits and bobs, starting with a new ferment of a litre of kefir. Maybe the horrible gathering together of paperwork so I can get my online tax form done. I keep putting that off for some strange reaon

Have a good day

Good morning from Cornwall where the sky is blue and the sun shining even though the forecast says thunder and lightning. Today I'm off to our allotment coffee morning and to check on my frogs. A call from the cardiac pharmacist yesterday following blood tests, who tells me everything is very tickety boo with heart, liver, kidneys etc so I don't need more medication, phew. Two months after my stents the cardiac team are still on my case, amazing care.

My daughter rang yesterday while visiting an elderly lady with dementia and put her on the phone (we've met but she doesn't remember). We talked about tennis and M&S strawberry flavoured clotted cream. First time I've ever spoken to someone with dementia. It was a kind gesture of my daughter; I could tell that the lady really enjoyed it even though she had no idea who I was.

The grandchildren are here for the weekend.DGD is still asleep as I took her to a roller disco last night after which she was so excited it took her a while to get to asleep.H was up with the birds so a long day ahead.

I hope Grandmabatty has arrived safely and has a lovely holiday.

My thoughts are with Urms,Kalu, Auntie flo, Marydoll and cornergran and anyone else with illness and worries about family members.

Good morning from a windy but dry mid Devon. Like many others, we had rain yesterday which stopped as we arrived here. DH is very good about loading the car whatever the weather and I’m glad to be relieved of that pressure.

Today we hope to park at Okehampton Station and take the train into Exeter. This is a relatively new service, reinstated a couple of years ago and proving very popular, more so than expected.

How reassuring to hear good news about your cardiac health, Mizuna!
Believe me, grandMattie, a girl can never have too much wardrobe space!

I hope this wild, wet, windy weather, which seems prevalent everywhere, soon moves on. It’s a shame for the holidaymakers. Enjoy whatever you have planned! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning all, it’s another grey and damp one in South Lanarkshire.

Good to hear that you’re improving Mick.

My tooth extraction yesterday wasn’t painful but it aches since the anaesthetic wore off. I could murder a cup of tea but can’t have a hot drink yet.

I’ve parcels to collect and T-shirts to return today and also must do a supermarket run, there’s not much food in the house.

No such thing as too much storage space gM.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Welcome back, Susan56! We have missed you!

Jacs7 Sat 15-Jul-23 07:26:06

Good morning Mick and everyone. Thank you for the welcome yesterday to this friendly thread.

The journey from north Kent to north Norfolk yesterday at the start of our holiday was long and wet. I think everyone in the east of the country was out on the roads; we had several holdups and the rain which started shortly after we left home continued throughout our journey. However, our cottage is lovely; very comfortable and, although small, is perfectly formed!

The weather is better this morning before the next batch of bad weather so we are hoping to squeeze in as much as we can this morning. We are visiting a glass blowing venue where we get to make our own glass ornaments, something I’ve always wanted to do. Hopefully I will create something worth keeping!

Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning all. Bright & sunny at the moment here in Sefton with mostly blue skies but also an ominous black cloud. Rain forecast for later. The promised deluge passed us by yesterday with just a bit of drizzle & one teeny cloudburst.
We will breakfast out this morning at a favourite canalside cafe, call at the farm shop on the way home then plod on with our paper work.
Good to hear things are improving Mick. Enjoy your day watching the Tour. I enjoy it just as a reminder of the beautiful French scenery.

Grandmabatty Sat 15-Jul-23 07:31:03

Good morning all from Benalmadena where it's sunny and already 20°. The forecast is to be very hot. Susan thank you. We arrived safely yesterday. It was an early start 3.30 am and everything went well. Dgs1 was invited to the cockpit to chat to the pilots. He was so excited. The only hiccup was the hour spent in the queue to get through passport control. I have managed to acquire blisters. Foolishly I wore new shoes and my feet are sore. That'll learn me. The hotel is fine. I have a nice roomy apartment. Last night we had a walk to a Mexican restaurant and then a wander along the promenade. Afterwards we sampled the hotel entertainment which suited dgs1.
Today will be a day at the pool and under shade. Have a good day all

Gingster Sat 15-Jul-23 07:36:44

Good morning all and it’s quite bright here at the moment.
I had two WhatsApp messages yesterday from my friends. One scorching on the continent and the other in their camper van in waterlogged and windy Devon. Strange weather all over! ☄️💨💦.

My friend and I scrapped the dog walk and just had a coffee and chat. Met up with our pals for lunch and home for the tennis. It’s so good this year.

We have db and SIL coming for afternoon tea so will miss the ladies final. I’ll catchup later.🎾.

Enjoy the day as much as you can and whatever comes your way. 🌸

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Dark clouds at the back of the house. Blue sky and fluffy clouds at the front. Very breezy both back and front.

Yesterday after my shop was another day doing nothing so I really must shake myself today. First thing I think I’ll spend some time in the greenhouse sorting out the tomato plants now that they are starting to ripen.

Perhaps not this week 🌧 but are you enjoying your new garden seat Marydoll ? I must get on and paint mine and get some new wood then put it back together.

Hope you’ll be back soon to your Saturday Chinese meal Mick.

Have the best day you can all 💐

Good morning from a wet S Hants, yesterday the rain didn’t stop, we had to cap off two water buts that were overflowing Mr J is playing golf later, our pub’s charity tournament, forecast is high winds and storms!
I will sort out a couple of admin bits, get a walk-in hopefully and watch some tennis.
Picture is TDF 2017 in France,
Hi Susan56 👋👋
Enjoy your glass blowing Jacs.
Thoughts with those struggling whose days will be a challenge.

Good morning from a wet and forecast very windy South Downs.

We had heavy rain yesterday - a day in watching the tennis - so a final on Sunday between my least favourite and most favourite tennis player. But I suspect Djokovic will win, young Alcaraz may well get overawed as he did last time, but if he doesn’t 🤞🤞🤞.

Today is another day in - sheltering from wind and rain. I did manage to begin to cut down the delphiniums yesterday and just need to complete that and feed them for another autumn display. The late summer flowerbed is gradually unfolding - mostly echinaceas, phlox and agastache, colours of red, blue and purple carefully chosen to blend but right in the centre front there is a large rudbeckia of bright yellow!! Goodness knows how that got there, but it looks so happy I haven’t the heart to move it.

Veggie day today so courgette and pea pasta for main meal

Enjoy your day everyone

Morning all from a damp and grey West Oxfordshire. OH is off to see his bees today. They don’t like rain so he might not be able to open his hive. He and his fellow beekeepers are having a social this afternoon. I have taken a cake out of the freezer to defrost which he’ll take as his contribution. It is a white chocolate cake made with egg whites. I just need to make some lemon icing to go on top. Because I make a lot of custard based ice cream I have a lot of spare egg whites in the freezer. My sister in law says it looks like a sperm bank! Fortunately I have recipes for pavlova and friands to use them up. Have a good day. Thinking of Urms and others who are suffering or struggling.

Good morning Mick and all from a cooler Biarritz
Yesterday was Bastille day and after our evening meal we watched the sunset and then the fine firework display.
All five of us leave today so we are packing up after a lovely time together.
Thoughts to all with worries and glad you are feeling more like yourself Mick.

Good morning from an as yet sunny Suffolk although, like the rest of you, strong winds and rain are forecast from mid morning.

Nothing other than the usual morning dog walk planned so I’ll catch up with talking to our AC and grandchildren. The Bristol lot are camping in Croatia and having a wonderful time from the photos and videos, enjoying swimming and boat trips. They return home on Sunday and will find the British summer very disappointing.

Hope all find something to enjoy today especially those with worries.

Good morning all from the Black country there are a few bits of blue in the sky but don't think they will last for long. Yesterday was nonstop rain until 9pm we decided against going to the club getting wet once in the day was enough.
Today we are over to our friends in Redditch
Will catch up with everybody's happenings later good to see you back Susan56 👋.
Usual full English calling so enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. It didn't stop raining all day yesterday and we're forecast a few showers today.
I am back home as DD2 and baby were discharged from hospital just over 24 hours after a C section. We got plenty of baby hugs and made sure the house was shipshape before we left them. Other gran and family is visiting over the weekend.
Glad to see that you are improving Mick. I think about all my GN friends regularly.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning all from a grey North Leicestershire. We too have a yellow wind warning. It was so cold last night that I boosted the heating and closed all the curtains.

DH and DGS3 really enjoyed The Who and UB40. DH was one of the oldest people there and DGS3, one of the youngest.

Long overdue pedicure this afternoon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

ginny Sat 15-Jul-23 08:05:07

Good morning everyone. I haven’t read through the thread yet so will come back later for all the news.

Weather is damp and windy. So much for summer !

We are now home from our holiday and today my birthday ,one more year to another big O.
No idea what we are doing today other than emptying the caravan so will see what unfolds.
Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.
