Solent Green ( a dystopia from the early seventies ) in which life has become intolerable for everyone except the ruling elite - sounds familiar ?

The poor were obliged to eat Solent Red or Yellow and tastier still , was Solent Green .
Only Solent Green was processed from the deceased from the government euthanasia centres .

I didn’t see the programme but agree with several people that Greg WALLIS is the most annoying person on TV and doesn’t deserve all the work he gets

I'm actually in favour of lab grown meat (soon to be 'factory grown'). It's very efficient as only muscle meat is cultured. Following the initial harvest of some cells (unfortunately, a little pain, equivalent to a blood test - on one animal) they can be reproduced endlessly.

Despite the fact that eating meat is optional and unnecessary, (so it goes against my principles) I'm a realist - so at least all those millions of short, painful lives could be spared.

I'm in favour of it too, although I know a lot of vegans aren't. I think it is unrealistic to expect that all meat eaters will stop eating it, and this method would be a game changer for the billions of animals suffering every day at present.

If you don't like it, don't eat it.

This documentary and it's subject human meat is disgusting, not funny, no good, and I am astonished that C4 would think it's ok to make this sort of rubbish!

To all those who survived it

Horrible even though it wasn't true. But spare a thought for farm animals who endure the horrific reality of meat production. The logos on the packaging designed to reassure people about their food choices mean nothing to a terrified animal in a slaughter house.

As I said upthread there’s a series of these Mockumentaries made, so watch out - there’s more to come.
The Guardian commented that it took a while for the penny to drop though.

Along with fake news and deepfake stuff there are mockumentaries that will have people believing it. Just why they do them is another story, they think they’re being super clever and funny. Well, no they aren’t!

I didn't see it but this morning the Today programme had an interview with the director. It seems to me that it would have been better shown on April 1st.

Cannibalism is depravity and never something to make light of. Our mainstream TV channels should not be putting out fake news without a warning before and during the programme.

I thought the prog was very creepy and certainly not entertaining! The only plus was that there was no swearing…🙄

When I saw the headline I thought Soylent Green, saw it as a double bill with Omega Man, still gives me the heebi geebies
