I had to listen to my cousin sing this at her wedding as her husband was called Robert[Bobby]. She was 17 and pregnant their parents made them marry. I was a bridesmaid and somehow knew it would never last. They divorced about 2 years later. Both remarried but she never had any more children. He went on to have more.
She definitely had not used her noddle.

I must say I sang along with it in my teens.
I only went out with one Robert (he was never a Bobby) but, sadly, it was not to last 😥
