Hello all. It’s early afternoon and I’m resting on the sofa. I drove my brother and I to the Koala hospital this morning in Port McQ. Most of the patients suffered burns in bush fires. It was a very bright day and I developed a migraine - the first for two months. My brother is making a bean curry for dinner. I have my packing to do this evening as I’m going to the airport at 9 am tomorrow. When I arrive at Sydney Airport, I must get a train and then a ferry to Manley. Have a good day.

Good morning from a dawning Bristol. Although high temperatures are promised, I haven’t felt hot, except in the late afternoons.
I have been making cushion covers for the Church children’s cushions. I hope to have finished them this morning, in time to take them in when I go to tai chi. I have appliquéd cats, mushrooms, apples, etc., on them…
This afternoon, after the hygienist, I’m dining with DD and family.

Good morning it looks as though we are going to have another sunny day.
We cleared a large area of brambles yesterday, cut down a huge Rosemary bush and moved some garden furniture around, found the sun dial covered in ivy so pulled that put, we left the brambles that have some juicy berries on and I’ll cut those later in the year, we filled our 2 brown bins at the same time as we finished, so no more clearing in the garden until the bins are collected.
Off to the beach today and then a visit to MrOops sister and her poorly husband.
Have a good day everyone, thoughts are with those who are going through tough times.

Good morning from a brightening Torbay.

Lovely photo, LLFL! Aren’t koalas fascinating? My DD1 in Geelong made mittens to protect their burnt paws whilst healing a few years ago. Safe onward travels and I hope the migraine has gone.

Forever a busy person, grandMattie! You have such useful skills to share.

I’m glad the Wiltshire Farm Foods are suiting you, Mick, as you get back into your normal routine.

We’ve had a few warm days which is making our theatre distinctly uncomfortable. I feel sorry for the men in their serge uniforms. Last night's audience was wonderfully appreciative with much laughter and applause followed by a busy bar session. My DS is staying with his father nearby and will be in the audience on Friday.

Keep smiling no matter what! 🦩🥰😎💐🦩

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's just getting light.

I was touched by all the birthday greetings yesterday but wrote my thanks on the wrong thread. Thanks Mizuna for pointing that out.

Thankyou everyone!

I cancelled my plans and took a covid test which was negative. I had to buy a new pack of test kits as the ones I had were all dried up.

I have an appointment for an eye assessment today for my cataract operation which I don't want to miss. I'll wear a mask on the bus and when I arrive will admit to having a cold.

My Helpers leave for their next destination. It's a peace centre in N Ireland and sounds wonderful.

Apart from accidentally defrosting my freezer and shrinking a woollen cardigan by putting it in the washing machine, they have been a great help. shock
My next helper is due tomorrow.

Sorry you developed a migraine LLFL you are packing such a lot in!

I shall come back to read your posts properly.

I hope you've recovered from your day at the seaside Marydoll shock
You are an adventurer!

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning, dull skies here on the edge of the Cotswolds.
Yesterday I had a lovely walk with the dog early, only in the village but it was peaceful and the cornfield was full of poppies and cornflowers, I wish I had taken my phone so I could have photographed it. I sat out in the sunshine after lunch and it was lovely.
Today housework and laundry then more reading in the sun hopefully!
Have a lovely day 🌹

Good morning from a glorious South Downs.

Im lying in bed with all the bedroom curtains and windows wide open enjoying the rising sun and breeze.

Having down 500 ton of ironing yesterday I have a free day, so the garden will get all my attention. I forgot to feed the roses after their first flush in June and now the subsequent second flush the roses are smaller. Will molly coddle them over winter with garden compost mulch and a good feed in the spring. My echinaceas and rudbeckias are very floriferous this year, in fact everything has been, I reckon it was all the rain we had over winter and spring. I’ve ordered tulips and daffs and also thought I’d try and do a Monty and have a load of little pots planted with bulbs to sit on a garden table as they flower. I have a table that I “mosaic-Ed” in the potting shed somewhere I’ll use that I think. The mosaic is of a bulb cut in half with all the layers.

As the year progresses the rising sun hits a different part of the bedroom wall. So mid-summer it hits the back middle wall as it rises now it is on the back side of the wall and by mid-winter it has come around to barely hit the back of the bed head wall. Earths wobble🙂🌞.

I must stop yabbering!

Mackerel today, meant to be yesterday, but I had forgotten to order it, so delivery will bring some today. I had MBs sausage supper instead yesterday.

Hope everyone is in fine fettle and those that aren’t I hope the day never-the-less brings peace and contentment.

Good morning from a very warm Black Country.

Just wrote a long post which promptly vanished!

Suffice to say it is my Thursday walk this morning, then hopefully tidy up in the garden this afternoon.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Greyduster Thu 17-Aug-23 06:52:26

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a uniformally grey, cool South Yorkshire. It was so hot yesterday but GS did get the hedge and lawn cutting done for me.
I didn’t sleep well last night and seem to be coming down with a cold, but I will do my usual walk in the woods this morning and then have lunch with DD. When I spoke to her yesterday afternoon she was making chicken soup, so maybe there will be some of that!
Have the best day you can folks.

kittylester Thu 17-Aug-23 06:53:02

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire and where there is a heron on the roof of the house opposite. We are fairly close to the river where the herons usually gand out and our neighbour has a pond full of koi.

Last day of the children's stay today. The girls stayed with their cousins last night and we are repaying the compliment today. Wish us luck with 5 children!

My friend now has a treatment plan - she is on steroids and will start chemo on Monday. She will stay in hospital for the start of her treatment.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 17-Aug-23 06:55:12

Morning all we are supposedly in for another warm sunny day here in S E Essex.

We have DS4’s youngest being dropped off here at 8am (GS who is 4 in September) as DiL is off to London with GD (6yrs) to see the Wizard of Oz show. The Imp will come round later (with DD) so I guess there will be lots of laughter and splashes in the spa pool.

DH has offered to BBQ tonight so all I have to do is make salads.

lfl I have fond memories of Manley, I hope the weather is good for you.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Susan56 Thu 17-Aug-23 07:04:04

Good morning from Shropshire.A misty start but sun forecast later on.

I am feeling a bit rubbish on the antibiotics so spent yesterday afternoon lying down and reading.

We have somebody coming to give us a quote for a new boiler today so will probably need to lie down again after that!Nothing else planned apart from the usual household chores and sorting another box of books.

I hope your migraine has cleared Llfl.Safe travels.Grammaretto I hope your feeling better too and that the assessment goes well.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Grandmabatty Thu 17-Aug-23 07:21:09

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and very cloudy. It is forecast to burn off later. Susan I hope you feel better soon. Ash that must be uncomfortable for the actors. I remember a performance of King Lear at Stratford when the temperature was in the 90s. Everyone on and off stage were drenched in sweat. Kittylester good luck! Oopsadaisy a very productive gardening time for you.
Yesterday I managed to achieve quite a bit by pottering. Dgs1 had a good day at nursery and told his teacher of his highlights - a woman falling in the street and a seagull being hit by a car! Both happened and obviously stuck in his wee mind more than the swimming pool.
Today I'm meeting friends for a late coffee/early lunch. I'll pick up one lady who can no longer drive and we'll meet the rest. One of us is harder work (not me!) and has opinions on everything: from where you go on holiday to what you're allowed to eat. She's also a drama queen and, matter what other people are going through, she has it worse. Sometimes I rise to the bait and get annoyed but I've known her for many years and she's not going to change now. She has been a good friend to me many many times, so it's best to nod and smile. Tonight I'll visit mum. Dd went yesterday so it's my turn tonight. Salad for dinner I think. Have a good day all

Jaxjacky Thu 17-Aug-23 07:27:42

Morning from S Hants, high cloud, due to be warm later so it’s a towel washing day and kitchen clean.
We picked up my daughter and grandchildren from Bournemouth airport yesterday, they had a wonderful holiday.
Hopefully your migraine has passed llfl that’s a lovely ferry crossing.
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩.

Good morning all from a sunny Black country, yesterday spent an hour in the garden after the plumber had left for such a small garden I always find something to do.
Today it's a trip to Sainsburys they have a lidl opposite so take a look at the middle aisle.
Tonight our friends are coming and we shall meet up with others at the club.
Best wishes anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed enjoy your Thursday everyone and may you all find some ☀️.

Mizuna Thu 17-Aug-23 07:37:45

Good morning from an overcast, sultry Cornwall. I can feel the heat building. Today was supposedly an allotment day but my 7-year-old granddaughter, on the airport bus following a beach holiday, has asked to come over. She obviously needs quiet space after a hectic week.

My flat doesn't get direct sunlight but is an almost constantly moving dappled light show from the surrounding tall trees. Sometimes it's like a room full of dancing fairies. This picture is the evening's reflection on my art room ceiling.

Great football yesterday! Am looking forward to the final on Sunday.

Gingster Thu 17-Aug-23 07:40:51

Good morning all and feels cooler at the moment here in Essex.
Yesterday I went to the docs with my thumb. He popped it and gave me antibiotics. Feels so much better already.

Today I have a glaucoma test at the hospital. This will be the third one , always inconclusive. Dh will come with me as parking is awful and they recommend someone with you because of eye drops etc. it’s a long appointment so I might get a cab home. 🤔.

This morning I have bowls club .

Take care all 🌻

Pittcity Thu 17-Aug-23 07:49:47

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Another warm, dry day.
DH and I are taking DD2,DGS2 and DGD to visit SisIL. I envisage great fun fitting the baby car seat into our car.
Love to all 🦩 x

ginny Thu 17-Aug-23 07:55:52

Good morning.
We had a good journey home from the Isle of Wight yesterday . We will certainly be going back before too long
Today DH and I have DGSs 2 & 3 as DD and SIL have a funeral to attend.
Hopefully we will be able to be I the garden. We have all been so busy the last few weeks a quiet day is needed.
Wishing all a good day.

Sar53 Thu 17-Aug-23 07:56:05

Good morning from a breezy and dry Essex coast, not much sunshine so far.
DH is going to meet up with old work mates in London. I have the car so I shall go further afield to shop.
We are finally going on our first trip out on the boat on Saturday so lots to get ready.
Have a lovely day everyone and hopefully the sun will shine xxx

brook2704 Thu 17-Aug-23 07:58:08

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and sunny, forecast to be a lovely day
How kind to make the children’s cushion covers gMattie, I bet they look lovely and bright
Hope you’re feeling better soon Susan56
Today I’ve got a training course for my new volunteering job, it’s on zoom so I don’t need to go out but all new to me. After that I’ll be packing as we’re off on our latest adventure tomorrow to Lewis and Harris, I’m looking forward to getting back to a bit of walking and exploring somewhere new. I need to water a few things in the garden too so a busy day ahead
Safe travels llfl, gorgeous photo
Have a lovely day with the DGC kitty!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gwenisgreat Thu 17-Aug-23 07:59:52

Good morning all from cloudy but warm Harrogate
Lucky you seeing the koala bears Llfl is this your holiday coming to an end then? GrandMattie you are sounding like you are well settled in Bristol now.
I’m not surprised that your Dads Army has been so popular Ashcombe I would have loved to see a performance!
Today it’s a Sainsburies delivery. Followed by a trip to town. I’m trying to persuade DH that since both his MacBook and Desktop are a bit long in the tooth, to replace them with one larger MacBook, so hence a trip to CEX
Have the best day possible folks

Foxygloves Thu 17-Aug-23 08:00:34

Good morning from Foxyland where it is overcast but forecast to be warm and sunny.
Yesterday I was taken by surprise by the Waitrose delivery as I had completely misread the time. Not like me.
Perhaps it was the excitement of the Lionesses in Sydney.
I am not English and I do not as a rule take any interest in football, but I was riveted!
Back to the vet today with the Foxyhound to check her anal gland abscess has cleared up - poor dog she was very uncomfortable but judging by her present behaviour it is on the mend.
Then I need to plant up three new big planters I bought last week - so big I ran out of compost and too distracted by poorly pooch, my own PF and keeping the shiny red 🚗 immaculate, didn’t feel like venturing out to the nursery for more!
Wishing you all a gentle and pleasant day ☀️
