Good morning all from a wet and cloudy Glasgow. Good to hear things are improving for you Mick.
Firstly, belated birthday greetings to Oops, I hope you had a lovely day.
GM, a dreadful day indeed. Thank goodness we don't have that leasing nonsense here in Scotland. That is a lot of money to find on top of actually buying a property.
Sago, Avila is beautiful! We were on a fabulous, touring holiday in Spain and Avila was on our itinerary.
Baubles, I have always had great admiration for you going back to work, I don't know where you find the stamina.
Hopefully your DH will pick up in time for your holiday.
Yesterday was a very quiet day. I received a call from my friend, who recently lost his daughter. He is still in hospital, awaiting two lots of surgery, one major heart surgery. He had a triple bypass a few years ago. He actually collapsed in the entrance to our local hospital. Ten minutes earlier, he would have been driving! A very luckyy man.
The funeral is on Thursday and he has been given a day pass to go.
He was asking me for help with a couple of things, because he didn't want to deal with the PP and his wife is also very unwell.
It was an upsetting phone call and I felt quite humbled that he had asked me help him.
Later while I was on the phone to the PP, my mobile which was lying beside me, rang. It was my DIL and somehow I managed to answer it, instead of stopping the call. There was I, landline handset in one hand, mobile in other, when DIL started a rant about the PP. 😱
I frantically tried to stop her, saying I would phone her back.
I was so flustered.
The PP, despite my advice, has made a foolish decision about something, which is going to implode. Parishioners are up in arms. I'm dreading the fallout and trying not to get involved. In his world, black is black and white is white. I totally disagree with him and feeling quite stressed about it. Life should be interesting in the next few days.
Today, we were supposed to be going on the train to Ayr to meet an old colleague of DHs, but it has been postponed.
Instead, we are off to Glasgow on the train for lunch. I would have liked a vino, but there is no way I could walk to the station, so I shall drive and DH can have a beer.
Our plan was to use a Christmas voucher, but to my horror it had expired! I decided to email the restaurant and much to my surprise, a director messaged immediately back, to say that they would honour it. A nice end to the day.
Now I am agonising about what to wear, I've not been in Glasgow for about a year and it is also raining!! Decisions, decisions.
For those holidaying, enjoy and for those with worries, I hope today is a gentle one.
Have a good day everyone.
