The forecast for this coming week is for sunny skies and warm weather.
I view of the type of weather we have had for most of the summer, I give warning that I will not be responsible for my act when the it’s person says “ oooh it’s too hot”

I just knew the weather would be lovely once the children were back at school - and dh and I were off on holiday.

And there I was, ready to bring out and freshen up my winter sweaters. Yesterday my favourite cotton skirt was washed along with numerous tee shirts. So they don't need to give up their drawer and wardrobe spaces yet.

Callistemon21 Sun 03-Sept-23 11:06:14

It was so cold the other day, 14C, I turned on an oil-filled radiator just to warm one room and was looking for some new winter jumpers as mine are all rather past their best!

Aveline

I saw the forecast for next week and groaned. I had been really looking forward to autumnal weather. Fleece and cosy slippers at the ready. Can't face more sweaty weather.

Where did you find so much sweaty weather ? Must live a long way from me.

Aveline Sun 03-Sept-23 14:21:36

I must do. I found the weather in June almost unbearable. With floor to ceiling south facing windows we live with all the blinds down and the Dyson fan blowing.

Hetty58 Sun 03-Sept-23 14:24:18

30 degrees possible this week? I'm going to have to start complaining - having just dug out my winter jumpers and dressing gowns!

Granmarderby10 Sun 03-Sept-23 14:31:22

Yay 😀 Mr. Blue sky!

M0nica Sun 03-Sept-23 14:37:54

Theheata is expected to last a week at most. After next weekend it will all cool down again.

BlueBelle Sun 03-Sept-23 15:49:51

I HATE winter and cold bring on the sun and a bit of warmth for my bones it’s been a fairly dire summer and the thought of months of cold weather makes me utterly depressed

ginny Sun 03-Sept-23 15:53:03

Me too Bluebelle.
I aim to make the most of this week and once my hip is sorted I’m off somewhere hot.

karmalady Sun 03-Sept-23 19:34:01

Too warm for me, I had intended to cycle ride this week but the sun is blinding when going past hedges, dark/light dark/light and uv is strong, which worries me, in spite of sunscreen. Flying insects are out in force, so I would wear a buff up over my nose, making me too hot. A bumble bee stung inside my mouth once, hence the buff

To be very honest, I prefer cooler weather and am mentally ready for autumn

Our daughter kitted out the Boy Wonder and L’l Miss with their new school (winter) uniforms. It’s going to be so warm that L’l Miss is going back in next week in her just about fits where it hits gingham summer dress - with some new ankle socks bought specially today ha!
🤣

Beechnut Sun 03-Sept-23 22:43:43

It’s all my fault! After a few cool weeks I put my fan away.

V3ra Sun 03-Sept-23 23:06:37

VioletSky

I like cardigan weather

I am the cardigan queen round here 😁

I had the heated towel rail on in my shower room twice last week as well, don't tell my husband 🤫

Gingster Sun 03-Sept-23 23:09:51

Here here Aveline. My thoughts precisely

glammagran Sun 03-Sept-23 23:29:23

We put our air cooler back in the garage about 3 weeks ago. It’s a large beast and DH will not be best pleased if I ask for it to be brought back in. All said, I love the heat and sun - it seems to completely transform my brain. Long may it last.

M0nica Mon 04-Sept-23 09:32:53

I went to a wool fair this weekend. I have bought the knitting pattern for a new sweater, although I will wait until the big Knitting and Stitching Fair at Alexandra Palace before I buy the wool.

I was out blackberrying this morning. The weather can do what it likes, as far as I am concerned, it is autumn.

This thread brings to mind Peter Kay’s sketch-people morning about the warm weather saying things like:
‘is it ‘ot or is it me?’,
‘I like it warm , but not this warm!’
Response being:
‘Shut the F(insert rude word) Up, and go get a Solero!’ grinblush

I worked in the garden from 7-8 this evening and have only just cooled down a bit. Adaptation certainly disappears when getting old. It is still 25 outside so I am going to take my summer duvet off and change to a linen sheet and a very thin blanket. Oh dear, there is comfortable warm and there is this oppressive heat which has put a stop to my daytime activities

I hate this weather, it is potentially life threatening for some of us. Sitting indoors with all the curtains closed not being able to breathe and being permanently dizzy is not my idea of fun. I find it all quite frightening

Millieangel Tue 05-Sept-23 11:56:58

An absolute pleasure to see the sun again.

Lilyflower Tue 05-Sept-23 11:58:15

Scorchio here. Yippee! Been a long time coming.

TerriBull Tue 05-Sept-23 11:59:13

Please, please let the wall to wall sunshine extend to Wales, tis where we are off to at the end of the week. Went to Mumbles a few years ago in April, expecting possibly some rain, weather was like the Mediterranean, we extended our stay smile

Make sure you drink plenty and take a little extra salt on your meal.

We have some towels which DD gave us, you rinse them in cold water, squeeze out a little and put them on the back of your neck or on your forehead. They stay cold.
CoolTowel, available in sports shops or online.
