I'm not blowing my own trumpet here but...

one of my most glamorous friends messaged yesterday to ask what foundation and blusher I use, because my complexion 'always looks fabulous'! blush

Has that happened to you?

I was told that I have the body and grace of a gazelle and the memory of an elephant.

Oh no, wait a minute, the other way around

Thank you both. Obviously now that I'm 74, it's all gone downhill. grin

Not 🤢 eyed MerylStreep. I prefer to be judged by others for what I do and am rather than just for my looks. I certainly don't need validation for my looks from random men.

Kate1949 Thu 07-Sept-23 14:41:24

I didn't need validation but it was a nice compliment. Where's the harm? I've had to fight all my life to look halfway decent and I'll take a compliment when offered. I didn't go home and think 'Blimey you're gorgeous'. Far from it. My self esteem has always been very low. It gave me a boost. I'm not one of those daft women who would run off with a Tunisian waiter, believing all they said. He seemed a nice young man who made someone's day.

Surely, it's good to be recognised for all sorts of things.

I am quite a decent cook and love it when someone compliments me on my food. Similarly, I love my volunteering and I love it even more when a Carer gives me a hug and thanks me for being there.

I loved it when teachers at my children's school said they loved it when another one of our children was coming to their class.

And, if someone thinks I look nice, I love that too.

And, I'm sure the same sort of things happen to Kate

And, I am jealous that it didn't happen to me!

Hear, hear Kate1949 a compliment gracefully accepted.

I have a friend like that kitty. 72, slim, beautiful hair etc. She knows how to wear a scarf if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean about scarves. My scarf tying leaves a lot to be desired (no patience). A friend of the young Princess Diana said she could tie a scarf round her neck and jazz up her whole outfit.

I remember being pleased, on using my 60 pass for the first time and the ticket collector at the train station said:
‘What are you doing with your mother’s pass?”😁
