one of my most glamorous friends messaged yesterday to ask what foundation and blusher I use, because my complexion 'always looks fabulous'! blush

Has that happened to you?

midgey Sun 03-Sept-23 10:20:38

Absolutely never! You must be positively model like, well done!

Georgesgran Sun 03-Sept-23 10:20:40

Sadly, no, but well done kitty

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 03-Sept-23 10:22:30

Never, because I don’t like foundation.

Shelflife Sun 03-Sept-23 10:26:23

Sadly no, I don't wear make up !

BlueSapphire Sun 03-Sept-23 10:29:37

kittylester, and now we all want to know what foundation and blusher you use!

Kate1949 Sun 03-Sept-23 10:31:56

No but how lovely kitty. I did go to a wedding last month and someone I don't see regularly said to me 'Can I ask you a question?'. I said 'Erm..ok' wondering what on earth was coming. He said 'How come every time I see you you look younger?' Quite a boost for a 74 year old with so many spare parts - false hair, teeth, and contact lenses!

Lovetopaint037 Sun 03-Sept-23 10:35:41

If someone said that to me I would ask if they are due a cataract operation. Well done Kitty. Do you have a secret you can share?

kittylester Sun 03-Sept-23 10:38:46

I don't use much foundation and I have been bemoaning the wrinkles that are arriving daily. I think she is my new best friend!! grin

lemsip Sun 03-Sept-23 10:39:54

I think kittylester was meaning 'has anything similar' happened to us, rather than the make-up or not question..

lucky you kitty.

JackyB Sun 03-Sept-23 10:49:41

I always line-dried and ironed all my washing. It's a long time ago now but I remember my youngest telling me that a girl had come up to him and nuzzled her face in his tee shirt "because his clothes always smelt so lovely!" I still enjoy the memory of the lovely compliment.

MrsThatcher Sun 03-Sept-23 10:50:09

No. But well done for looking ‘fabulous’.

kittylester Sun 03-Sept-23 10:50:46

I did, lemsip. I phrased it badly!! Thank you.

annodomini Sun 03-Sept-23 10:58:27

Not since about 1970. And probably not even then.

Foxygloves Sun 03-Sept-23 10:59:44

Oo-er! I wish!
I hope you told her it was all natural and you don’t wear make-up?
(So, which foundation and blusher DO you use?)

Foxygloves Sun 03-Sept-23 11:00:56

Quite.
More new parts than old? 🤣🤣!

annsixty Sun 03-Sept-23 11:04:43

We are all agog now and really, really want to know just what do you use?

kittylester Sun 03-Sept-23 11:14:48

As lemsip said, really I was asking if anyone has had any unexpected, and lovely, compliments - about anything.

I use a BB Cream which I was told about here, Colour Me Beautiful foundation, suggested by the woman who did my colours, and a Clinique blusher which I had got right all by myself.

That was a lovely compliment Jacky.

Jaxjacky Sun 03-Sept-23 11:20:26

It’s lovely isn’t it kitty.
Yes, my new gardener lady and I were chatting about ageing, she thought I was in my 50’s, I’m too honest and said ‘add on ten years’
Incidentally, I never wear any make up

Mollygo Sun 03-Sept-23 11:27:00

Well done kittylester Enjoy the moment and again every time you use it.
I’ve had compliments and requests for my favourite lipstick colour and source, but the most frequent ones are, “I love your necklaces. Where did you get it?”

Kate1949 Sun 03-Sept-23 11:30:37

Yes Foxy. I'm a bionic woman!

Glorianny Sun 03-Sept-23 11:31:25

Thinking about this I can't describe any of my friends as glamorous, most of us are just getting by (as my mum put it, "I'll pass, with a push from a strong man, behind me".
If my friends asked me anything it would probably be either "Those shoes look comfortable, where did you get them?" or "Where, around here, does the best scones?"
Which says a lot about me (and them)

I don't use much either - just to cover the worst bits!!!

My friend is slim, blonde and effortlessly elegant. I shouldn't really hang around in such company!!

Kate1949 Sun 03-Sept-23 11:40:46

I have a friend like that kitty. 72, slim, beautiful hair etc. She knows how to wear a scarf if you know what I mean.

B9exchange Sun 03-Sept-23 12:09:04

I was once asked by a (female, happily married) work colleague which bra I wore as she would like to buy one!
