Oopsadaidy1, have a lovely day!
When is Amol Rajan leaving the Today programme please?
Oopsadaidy1, have a lovely day!
Agree with Monica.
Why do you need to have a clutch bag because it is a wedding? What is the point of a handbag if you cannot get everything in it?
I would simply do as merylstreep suggests (and provides examples of) and buy a sensibly sized handbag, big enough to contain everything you need for the day.
So, I bought a medium size handbag from Amazon which arrived in good time. A much better size than a dinky clutch bag and a good colour to go with my dress.
Large enough to put phone, purse, inhaler, small bag of make up and some tissues in. But not so big that it looks odd
I’ve decided that due to the heat it will be only eye make up and lipstick, or it will all slide off in the heat, which won’t be a pretty sight, there will be even enough room for me to take a casual shirt for MrOops to change into at the reception, I’m not sure how pristine it will look, but we will take a chance.
I don’t think I will need to take a wrap or a woolly for the evening or an umbrella and the pair of flats for the dancing will have to stay at the Hotel.
However, MissOops lent me a smallish tote bag just in case anything changes.
Thank you so much for the advice, at least if I end up taking a bigger bag I won’t feel daft.
Yes of course you should bring a nice tote! My son's wedding this past June was a bit of a long day at one location. I had a tote that held my cardigan, glasses, etc., I didn't need to cart it around for photos, just left it under a nearby table, as did many other ladies.
A pretty gift bag is a brilliant idea, and won’t cost more than £2-3.
The gift bag is a fabulous idea.
What a clever idea about the gift bag! If I’ve got one and can stop MrOops from inadvertently taking it over to the gifts table
( I’m assuming there will be one) I might go with that idea.
Alternatively I’ll keep scrolling, I really wanted a bright pink one, my clutch bag is bright pink Vintage and beaded but too small, I think
Thanks for the Totes link, I’m scrolling through Amazon now, I found one but it wouldn’t arrive until Saturday so too late.
Thanks again, I’ll let you know what I get.
Like the gift bag idea. Never thought of that.
For my 80th birthday last year I was given a gorgeous Katie Loxton tote with matching clutch in dusky pink, The tote is quite small (for a tote) and can be used as a handbag.
Hello 👋 Oopsadaisy!
Like Pittcity, I always take a large wedding gift bag with me, to hold all the odds and ends. It does not look out of place, just be careful that the contents are not too heavy.
Enjoy the wedding! 💒
A pink tote bag is an excellent idea Oopsadaisy so get one ordered and have a lovely time at the wedding.
On more inspection that’s too big.
And another. This one has more style.
I should have asked how much you want to pay.

I had a similar dilemma last weekend at a birthday party and had no time to buy anything suitable. I put all my stuff in a gift bag (I always keep them) and it didn't look out of place. Just remember not to add it to the gifts.
How’s this. You can have it tomorrow.

I usually carry a clutch bag if going anywhere and it’s surprising what will fit it. Mine carries an inhaler, a few tissues taken out of packet, paracetamol ditto, credit card (you won’t need cash), phone, reading glasses (no case), comb, mirror, lipstick (how much more make up will you need if like me you use long lasting waterproof eyeliner and mascara?). And it still looks neat, not bulging, I’m sure you don’t need a tote bag (which wouldn’t be a good look and you’d feel self conscious). If you’re going with your husband, remember men’s clothes have pockets!
A nice smart pink tote will do the trick. Make sure it has a designer label (joking) - you might be able to pick up a pink tote, with matching clutch. Try TKMAXX.
Believe me, it’s some time since I went to a wedding, but I certainly would not feel secure without all that you have mentioned. They are absolute necessities as far as I am concerned . Good luck. Will be interested to know what you have decided on . Enjoy !
Get that order in ! You will feel uncomfortable if you don't have what you need close to hand. Don't worry , people will be focusing on the couple getting married - so probably won't notice your bag! Have a lovely time - enjoy!
I have a wedding to go to on Saturday but we are leaving home on Friday morning.
I have a pink clutch bag to go with my dress, I now realise that we will be without the car (and all that it could hold) all day and all evening.
The clutch bag won’t hold 2 pairs of glasses, inhaler, phone, purse, make up, tissues and whatever else I might need.
So, is it acceptable for me to take a smart Tote bag to carry everything in? I could carry the clutch bag and kick the tote out of the way for any photos, but will I appear to be a bit sad to drag a large bag around with me? If it’s pink?
I need to order a bag soon to get it by Thursday so any advice would be appreciated.
