Good Morning Everyone,
Twilight here but dry possible clouds as well here in brackley .
The sooner the heatwave breaks the happier I will be , as seem to enjoy cooler and wetter conditions personally .
Trying not to dehydrate as drinking water more .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Sussex.
I'm overlooking the sea which is a dead flat calm this morning and slightly hazy - a very hot day ahead with no breeze whatsoever.
I hope anyone coming to the beach is properly prepared.

I need to do some shopping for my mum but will be indoors otherwise. As it is so hot we won't be venturing to the beach cafe for our usual coffee this afternoon - not risking her getting poorly again when there's no need.

Keep cool everyone.

Good morning everyone from misty Severnside. I can’t see the trees at the end of my road.
I gave in two days ago and got my fan back out of the cupboard.

I’m going to have a tidy up and get my pots planted with their new plants, have shower and see where the day takes me. I am expecting my friends to call by with some of their belongings for me to babysit until they move house soon.

I too enjoy all the holiday photos. I do like to see all the buildings built long ago.

Enjoy your day all not long to go for cooler days 🌻

Good morning. A cooler start to the day here in Suffolk but don’t think it will last.

I was almost home late afternoon from my lunch with a dear friend when I got a low tyre pressure warning on the dash board. Luckily we have an excellent tyre place as part of our local garage so I’m hoping they are open today and can check them for me. The young man who is usually there is so kind and helpful….no charge for checking them and always a reassuring. Invite to return anytime if I need anything. DH thinks the setting needs adjusting but we’ll see.

It is the country market in our nearest town so a visit there this morning and then a mooching around kind of day I think. Hope today is an easy one for all.

Morning, bright sun and 17 in S Hants, downstairs windows opened and the blind juggling begins.
Yesterdays walk was before 9am, the least amount of housework was done, groceries delivered and pub in the evening.
My son and family returned from Exmouth, they’ve had a glorious week, a British seaside in the sunshine is the best.
Washing to get on now.
Have a lovely day, stay safe in the sun 🦩🦩

Waiting for my DiL to pick me, DD and other DiL up and we are off to spa hotel for the weekend.

Mud baths, facials and lots of pampering interspersed with afternoon tea and champagne. Dinner, sleep and more tomorrow.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Sago, your photo reminds me of a favourite tiny pastel by Toulouse-Lautrec in the Musee d’Orsay. It is called “the bed” and has a couple profoundly asleep in their bed. It is utterly charming!

Urmstongran Sat 09-Sept-23 08:20:01

Good morning everybody from an already warm and sunny south Manchester.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning from N. Bucks in another beautiful sunny day.
Small food shop to do this morning , a couple of small house jobs and the we shall enjoy sitting in the garden.
Babysitting this evening so DD3 and SIL can attend the local Food festival with friends.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, and another hot day has announced its arrival.

Had a lovely morning yesterday at our dance classes coffee get-together. It was good to meet people from other class locations. The coffee was good,.and the ginger cake.delicious!
We had a look around the mini shopping centre afterwards, including a lovely clothes shop (lots of Italian clothes, Marydoll!), and I was tempted to try two outfits on, but with each item there was a little bit of doubt in my mind,.so they went back on the hangers.....
Three of us have decided to try a different coffee shop next Friday.

Sat in the garden in the shade of the pergola in the afternoon with a cold drink and my Kindle, and got another good chunk of my 800 page novel read. Curry for dinner then watched the first world cup rugby match.

A.visit to our local retail park today, coffee and a snack in the M&S Cafe and a small top-up shop. Then home for more reading in the shade. Watching the England rugby match tonight. Local lad and local rugby player, Courtney Lawes, captaining, and our scrum-half, Alex Mitchell, starting - a lot of very proud Northampton Saints fans tonight!

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Good morning all.

I too, was so very sad to hear about Ash’s ex’s family. My heart breaks especially for the 7 year old.

Childcare on 3 days this week and then we did a BBQ for the family on Thursday. I was very glad to have a quiet day yesterday.

Will be watching the rugby at 8pm though don’t fancy England’s chances.

Wishing everyone a good day. Could be the last hot one. 🥲

harrigran Sat 09-Sept-23 08:44:56

Good morning from the NE where the early haze is lifting.
Yesterday GD celebrated her 18th birthday by dining out in Newcastle with her boyfriend.
Today all the rest of the family are meeting for lunch and then coming to mine for cake and champagne.
My sister and BIL visited yesterday and was happy to see that he had his leg brace removed. His calf muscle was wasted and his ankle was swollen but he has physiotherapy arranged.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it’s a sunny 17*.

Yesterday’s child minding day was peppered by tears from hot and bothered children at various times. They seem happy in their new home but I think they were rather emotional and not able to express why. Moving house is a stressful time although as they only moved a few streets the children haven’t had to change school and nursery.

DD has been minding our daft dug for a fortnight so we are looking forward to collecting her today. Eldest GC has a netball match which I’ll watch with DD.

Wishing everyone the best day possible whatever you are doing.

Good morning from a sunny N Norfolk where we are staying in a lovely little cottage . Unfortunately the heat and travel got to me yesterday but we will have a quiet day and settle in. What a sweet picture Sago
Best wishes to all

Good morning from a hot South Downs 21c at the moment. It didn’t drop below 20 c all night. I know that because I was out again tramping the streets with a poorly stomach upset dog. I’ll try starving him for 24 hrs or if he gets desperate rice and gravy today and if that doesn’t work after a couple of days it is off to the vets. I don’t think there is much wrong as he is fine in himself. I’ll give him a cool shower and shampoo today to freshen him up and help him feel better.
DH is out with him now.

Forecast to reach 30c here today, so will not be doing much. DS has said that he is going to buy us an air conditioning thing, so that will guarantee that the weather immediately cools down! Still, it will come in handy if we continue to get this sort of heat every year.

I think it will be an egg and cheese salad with mashed potato and mayonnaise today.

Peace and harmony to all

Good morning Mick and all from a glorious September morning on the Angus coast. We're forecast rain here tomorrow afternoon so I'd better get a move on with the plum harvest. Something to do while Lovely Gardener is trimming back the leylandii closer to the house.
I made great inroads into the paperwork yesterday but by lunchtime my poor brain had become mush so it was an afternoon spent between the pond (in the sun) and the garden room (sheltering from the sun). I definitely couldn't live with the temperatures some of you are experiencing down south!
Lovely photos - sleeping children and delicious quiches. Wonderful birthday celebrations to enjoy. Whatever you're doing today, have fun and stay cool!

Ziplok Sat 09-Sept-23 09:15:32

Good morning all,
another glorious day, although possible thunder storms this afternoon.
A quiet day ahead, some general house jobs then read my book, I think.
The grass could do with a trim, but it can wait until next week when it’s cooler.
Have a good day.

Georgesgran Sat 09-Sept-23 09:17:58

Good morning from Durham, forecast to be the hottest, sunniest day of the week today. I have no problem with that.
A busy weekend - taking Little Dog and some laundry back to DD2 and I’ll stay to play with DGS2 if he’s around - they might go to the coast. Then onto DD1’s as we are going into Newcastle for an early doors dinner. Town will be heaving with the Great North Run tomorrow, so we’ll use the electric bus, DGS2’s favourite. SinL’s Dad will be coming - he can be quite difficult and they suspect he has dementia. I’m staying over with them, so I can indulge in a few glasses of Pinot Drunkio!
Hope Marydoll is ok.
Best wishes to all. X

If we are thinking of the same place BlueSapphire (C….. A….. ?). that shop has only been open for a few months and is indeed tempting. I bought an oversized top there when it first opened but have come to the conclusion that its stock is aimed at women several inches taller than me!

Good morning from West York's another poor night but I can catch up later ,I have a bit of ironing and salad for tea . We had spicey fish 🐟last night was very nice but unfortunately the smell lingers .Have a good day all whatever you are up to.

Curlywhirly Sat 09-Sept-23 09:35:02

I don't usually post on this thread, but read it most days. Having read how lots are troubled with the heat, especially when trying to sleep, try filling a 'hot' water bottle with cold water and then putting it in the freezer. Once frozen, wrap it in a thin tea towel and put in your bed- it works a treat! Here's hoping those that are struggling get a better night's sleep soon. 🙂

Scapa1 Sat 09-Sept-23 09:48:57

Hope Marydoll is okay

Bella23 Sat 09-Sept-23 09:54:11

Good morning from Eden which is trying to be sunny.
GD2 birthday today so will have to Facetime as it is too far to travel at the moment.
Hope she likes her pressies and her party this afternoon. Too far for us to join in with my gammy foot.
Glad you are home safely Sago after all the holdups. .You have two adorable GC they all look their best when asleep. Enjoy your wedding.
A quiet morning for us after the Facetime, DH is deep in the Rugby report.
A picnic lunch at a beauty spot and a walk for DH this afternoon if it is not too hot , then we settle down for the second Rugby match and try not to sing "Don't cry for me Argentina ",because I don't think we will need to
Thinking of you G,s gran. in the toon full of people waiting for the run tomorrow especially if it is hot, what a fantastic atmosphere there will be.
Enjoy the weekend everyone, and catch up on lost sleep.

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire where it is currently 21°C and rising. It was foggy first thing but the mist is fast disappearing.

Yesterday was very hot, we went out for a drive but the roads were very busy so we came home and had a walk instead.

The laundry basket is looking at me reproachfully so that’s what I’m doing today. It’s great weather for drying.

That quiche looks yummy Foxygloves, enjoy the family get together.

Good news about the new drug MCSS hope things carry on improving.

Thoughts with those dealing with health and other issues today.

Have a good day all whatever you’re doing 🌹

Kalu Sat 09-Sept-23 10:07:15

Good morning all from a thankfully much cooler Glasgow.
I much prefer a warm day with a gentle breeze now rather than the hot and sticky weather we had yesterday.

When I collected our scripts yesterday our pharmacist told me they have run out of covid tests and covid is rife once more which is making me more wary of going out now to busy enclosed spaces for fear of passing it on to DH.

I’m feeling quite flat this morning with more worrying thoughts in my head. Time to put on my big girl pants, get on with it and stay positive.

Hope everything is ok with you Marydoll

Best wishes to all for a good day whatever your plans are.
