Ahh love her / disgusted by her - is she your Marmite? Saw the interview on ThisMorning...she's made the front cover on Vogue...at 82
She can be very hilarious but loves her fart talk -was most interested in her mint front botty therapy....what do other GNs think?

An appalling foul mouthed old bag!

👏👏

I adore her. Frankly, I have a bit of a crush. Once you overlook the bodily functions stuff - and honestly that just gets overquoted, I think - she’s brilliantly insightful and hilariously funny. And although she’s not typically beautiful, I think she’s absolutely gorgeous.

Not a fan but saw her on the Australia programme touring and meeting indigenous people who she was quite sympathetic to.

I don’t like her at all. She seems to have never outgrown playground humour - stuck at the level of an eight year old who falls about with laughter if they hear the word bum.

I read her autobiography and enjoyed it. She is a very complex character who loves to shock people!! She is very rude , uninhibited and absolutely outrageous. However I quite like her and think underneath her obvious character she is a sensitive and caring woman . Don't know how I would feel if spent time with her she is a strong and scary lady!!!

No it doesn’t. She’s been on enough TV programmes quite happily sharing her vulgarities whether we want them or not and I don’t!

I also don’t believe a word of her account of Jacqueline du Pré’s death.

She says she doesn’t like children but she’s absolutely brilliant with them.

I love her and have booked to see her in Manchester next month. Really looking forward to it.

I neither liked nor disliked her but did find her hugely entertaining. She was a marvellous actress, especially in her Dickens roles. And she made me laugh during her TV appearances. I loved her autobiography a few years back.
So I suppose I am a fan really. But I do understand why some people couldn't stand her.

Allsorts Wed 13-Sep-23 18:18:43

Can’t stand the vulgar woman.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 13-Sep-23 18:26:54

Ghastly, crude, vulgar.

MerylStreep Wed 13-Sep-23 18:39:02

The image of her filthy trainers ( Best Marigold Exotic hotel) showed me her cleanliness standards. 😱

Nightsky2 Wed 13-Sep-23 19:08:38

I find everything about this woman absolutely disgusting.

Redhead56 Wed 13-Sep-23 19:22:14

She does not shock me she wouldn't intimidate me I'm just not a fan.

Sara1954 Wed 13-Sep-23 20:25:35

Can’t stand her, awful woman

That’s a great review of her book, Luckygirl, you really summed it up well.

I saw MM in her one-woman Dickens show and she was so good in that. I think she is very clever and talented but I find her crudeness rather tiresome. She reminds me of a small child going through the poo/wee/fart stage that they usually grow out of.

I read an interview with her recently talking about her weight, where she was very honest about being fat - yes, she used that word. I think it’s brave of her to come out and say something like that.

lixy Wed 13-Sep-23 20:40:42

I have tried to watch her travel programmes (the one in America was of particular interest to me) but it was not for me. Whenever she takes part in an interview it seems to become crude rather quickly - and I'm just too much of a prude I'm afraid.
So, no, not for me.

DanniRae Wed 13-Sep-23 20:50:08

I really dislike her shock

Please don’t debase the word Brave in relation Miriam Margolyes.

I don’t like her. I find her pretentious and attention seeking, not my cup of tea.

SueDonim Wed 13-Sep-23 21:41:15

Are you the thread police, Meryl? I am as entitled to an opinion as you are. Just because we have different opinions doesn’tt make either of us right or wrong.

Doodledog Wed 13-Sep-23 21:46:57

I neither like nor dislike her as I don't know her, but I wouldn't want to be around her for very long, as I find loud, brash people tiresome, particularly when they name drop and push themselves forward all the time.

Mollygo Wed 13-Sep-23 21:58:18

I’ve enjoyed some things she’s been in e.g. The Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries, but I don’t like her language.

rafichagran Wed 13-Sep-23 22:12:01

I like her, and think she is funny.

AmberSpyglass Wed 13-Sep-23 22:12:09

She doesn’t suffer fools gladly, that’s for sure!
