Good morning from a very windy Bristol. We are promised wall to wall rain today, together with the rain 🌧️
Didn’t go to tai chi as it was wet, I didn’t want to spend the better part of two hours soaking!
I was minding my own business in the afternoon when I got a call from India. I answer cautiously, only to realise it was DS’s boss who is in England, Bath to be exact, settling his daughter at Uni. He wanted to meet me asap… We agreed to meet in Bristol centre, so rushed to the bus, while he, his wife and daughter took the train. They brought me a little tote full of presents; a gorgeous shawl (I love shawls), some Indian sweets and a beautiful little tea light thing. I was caught off guard, not having anything to reciprocate. We had a very pleasant hour before they went off to IKEA to get furniture for the girl. I don’t think they are short of money.
I got home very late, to make dinner and spoke to one of the residents who wanted to let me know that another one had been taken to hospital in the night. She seems ok but has become very frail.
I also had a visit in the morning from the warden to say she had arranged for a contractor to view my bathroom to see IF there was any asbestos! I was polite but am incandescent about the “if”…
Today should be quieter - just a church women’s thingy in the afternoon.
May today bring a little joy to those who need it, content to all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning mick from a still dark South Downs. Very windy and wet forecast.

Still sleeping fitfully as thinking about my sister. I’m driving her to another hospital appointment tomorrow, so May know more then. BiL doesn’t drive.

The dog has fleas!!😮😮 he is 14 and it is the first time in his life that he has had them. It is driving him mad, so I’ve put on some preparation and today am spraying the entire house - hopefully knock it on the head, but where on earth did they come from?

I have begun to put away my summer clothes, but as one day next week is forecast to be 24c I don’t want to put everything away yet.

Daughter has offered to do Christmas for everyone including her aunt, cousin etc. I said liaise with her brother - who offered a couple of days ago - as there will potentially be so many of us it may be a good thing if they do it together. Still one thing for sure I won’t have to do it - yippee! Daughter said that her choir are busy learning Christmas stuff - all seems a bit premature to me.

We plan to go to the garden centre today to get plants for our containers for autumn/winter. Might have lunch if it looks worth eating. Knepp is just by so might pop into the farm shop to see what they have culled/butchered. There might be some venison.

Lots of “mights” but it how I’m feeling just at the moment.

Sorry about the ramble😐

Peace and harmony to all

Good morning from a very windy Torbay.

What a lovely surprise for you to meet your DS’s boss and family, grandMattie! It's possible they'll be coming over regularly, with a daughter in Bath, which might give you the chance to reciprocate their thoughtful gifts.

It must be a relief to have Christmas taken care of, Whitewavemark2, when you have other responsibilities currently. I hope the appointment for your sister is helpful.

My hip pain is still a nuisance. This morning I’ve had to resort to two sticks for support just to reach the bathroom. I find ibuprofen helps although I was advised that’s not good for my BP. I’m hoping this is a short term problem.

Thinking of Urmstongran and her DH, along with others going through difficult times.

Happy hump day! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Mizuna Wed 20-Sept-23 06:28:06

Good morning from a dark, rainy Cornwall. Sat on my swing seat under an umbrella yesterday (see pic), reading and enjoying the weather. Feel I should start a club for Wet Weather Fans but I'd probably be the only member.

Today I'm off to a craft and coffee group in a library in a friendly town where I lived for a while. Am knitting cafetiére covers for my church so will take those with me.

Ridiculous, vivid heart-drug-induced dream in which I accidentally swung a crutch at Princess Anne, narrowly missing her mouth and she said loudly and poshly, 'Oh my, do be careful, you nearly hit my new denture. But don't tell anyone I have dentures.' grin

Good morning all from a still dark North Leicestershire. It is really windy but dry.

Up early as our cleaners are due at 9 to remove the sawdust etc and DH is going to the gym. Collecting some grandchildren from school.

Have the best day possible.

Morning Mick, morning All from a very windy corner of Somerset. More rain due soon, we’re in for a battering today.

Still struggling with car insurance, it is as our young friend would say doing my head in. Mr C’s dental appointment went to plan, he’s now the proud possessor of a permanent (we hope!) new dental crown. I’m noticing he is doing a lot more, hopefully turned s corner. We’ll find out tomorrow.

It feels a full day ahead, early grocery delivery, preparation needed for tomorrows hospital appointment, paper to put away, cleaners coming and travelling (hope the car can swim) to covid jabs this afternoon. We drove past the venue yesterday, could see quite a queue, oh dear.

Best get a move on or the grocery delivery person will have a shock.

Have the best day you can everyone.

I will join you Mizuna! I love wet weather, especially if it’s stormy.
Good morning everyone, it sounds very blustery out there, we’re in for a windy day here on the edge of the Cotswolds, we’re high up and facing southwest.
Yesterday I dropped off two bags of clothes and a box of books at the charity shop and collected the dog’s worming supplies. Then I went to Lidl for a few bits and into town to buy some new shoes- completely wasted journey! The chap in Clarks didn’t even look up from his phone so I walked out (I was the only person in there and he ignored my greeting) and the other shoe shop didn’t have any suitable.
I ended up with a splitting headache for the rest of the day and a poor night’s sleep so not a particularly happy bunny this morning!
Today it’s dog walking, housework and cleaning and possibly rearranging my bedroom a bit.
Have a lovely day 🌹

GrannyGravy13 Wed 20-Sept-23 07:02:25

Morning all

Ashcombe sorry your hip is still bothering you

Whitewavemark2 keeping fingers crossed for your DS

grandMattie what a lovely surprise

It’s windy here, we had thunder overnight and rain forecast for today. I am off to the gym first thing and then some desperate internet shopping to find a special gift for my DS’s 50th birthday which is getting closer and I am getting panicked that I won’t find that special something

Have a great day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Oops just reread my post DS is my dear sister in this case not son 🤣🤣

Pittcity Wed 20-Sept-23 07:18:32

Good morning from wet and windy Colchester. It's not cold though with a high of 21°. I have a parcel to drop at the Royal Mail depot for DS who's selling on eBay and I'm his personal Post Office. Then on to Wednesday morning coffee meetup.
Probably hunkering down this afternoon.
Love to all 🦩 x

NannyJan53 Wed 20-Sept-23 07:20:07

Good morning from a very wet Black Country.

Well, today I turn 70! I refuse to believe it, until I look in the mirror smile

We are off to the Airport later today to stay at a hotel there ready for an early morning flight tomorrow to Sicily for a week. MrJ says we will have a special meal out there. Already had family celebrations last Saturday.

Hope your hip pain subsides Ashcombe

Thinking of all struggling with health worries

I know what you mean😊.

Gingster Wed 20-Sept-23 07:26:58

Good morning all and it looks damp out there.
I’d join you on your patio Mizuna, under my umbrella - love a bit of weather.

GG let me know if you find anything for DS . My ds1 will be 50 in November and I’m struggling to think of something special.

Ash have you had your hip checked out? You might have done some damage when you fell. 🤔.

Urms my thoughts are with you. It’s the waiting that get to you isn’t it! 🙏.

Marydoll hope you’re feeling brighter.💐.

Yesterday I popped over to see dgd1 and gave her the crocheted blanket I made for her. She’ll take it back to southampton next week, to keep her cosy and warm .

Bridge was noisy and chaotic but lots of fun. Some bridge clubs I’ve been to are so serious and intimidating , this behaviour wouldn’t be tolerated.🤣😂.

Dh is going fishing 🤞and my old pal/neighbour is coming over for a dog walk, if it doesn’t pour down. We don’t mind the rain, but little pooches will get too muddy. We might just go for a coffee.

I hope everyone has a ‘good’ day. 🌻

Grandmabatty Wed 20-Sept-23 07:27:59

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 16° and wet. It has rained most of the night and there is localised flooding. Ash isn't there something that can be done? That sounds very painful for you. GrandMattie how nice of them! An unexpected treat. Whitewave I hope your sister is ok. Cornergran that's good that Mr C seems to be improving.
Firstly many thanks for the lovely messages and posts yesterday regarding my birthday. I appreciate them very much and you are a kind and thoughtful lot! I had both boys all day. We found a 'massive puddle' - dgs1's words- and much splashing ensued. Both boys had to be changed when we got home and I had to dry off puddle suits and wellies for today. My aunt popped in with flowers and I received nice cards and gifts. When I dropped the boys, I stayed for a Chinese takeaway from my favourite restaurant which doesn't deliver to my village. So a low key birthday but nice.
Today I'll nip to the library then Aldi for bread. Tonight I'll visit mum. In between, I'll potter, probably indoors as the rain is off and on most of the day. I don't have a lovely swing seat like Mizuna has , although my garden project will continue next year,so I might get one then. Have a good day all.

Gingster Wed 20-Sept-23 07:29:13

Happy birthday Nannyjan. And have a lovely holiday. 🥳

Grandmabatty Wed 20-Sept-23 07:29:37

Happy birthday to NannyJan Have a lovely holiday and birthday.

Gingster Wed 20-Sept-23 07:31:31

🤦‍♀️ GG I don’t think a gift for your sister will suit my son.🤣🤣

GrannyGravy13 Wed 20-Sept-23 07:32:38

Gingster it’s my sister’s 50th birthday gift I am struggling with 🤣

Our boys get money and a bottle of fizz from us, they are so difficult to buy for owing to if they want something they buy it!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 20-Sept-23 07:33:03

Oops crossed posts 🤣🤣🤣

GrannyGravy13 Wed 20-Sept-23 07:33:45

Firstly Happy birthday NannyJan 🎂🍷🎁🎉 you've caught me up, enjoy your day and safe travels for tomorrow.
GM what a lovely surprise.
Mizuna your dream made me laugh better than mine it was nightmare I dreamt I was back at work learning a new computer system ☹.
Looks like the duster will get an airing today.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️

Whitewavemark2 Wed 20-Sept-23 07:39:27

Just seen the messages about urms DH. Hopefully the scans gave good news. The effect of chemo seems to last for ages, so 🤞.

glammagran Wed 20-Sept-23 07:42:46

Good morning to you all.

I’m fighting off a cold, the first since last Christmas. Caught from DGD3 and DGS2 who are both coughing non stop with DD2 even worse than they are but still had them both for childcare this week. Have them overnight on Saturday too. 😵‍💫

On Sunday we drove through the heavy rain in Wiltshire to look at a wedding venue in a very rural part of Berkshire as DD2 and her fiancé have now picked next September to be married. It’s a huge barn on a 2000 acre eco organic farm. The whole vast site looked beautiful despite the appalling weather. It has accommodation for plenty of people too so they have put the deposit down on it. We can provide catering and drinks ourselves as no tie-in.

I’m delighted to hear Gingster’s young GD is on the mend. Happy belated Birthday greetings to Grandmabatty I wish I had even a fraction of your energy. Very best wishes to Urmstongran for your DH’s upcoming scan. Grandmattie you seem to be as busy as ever atm. Hope all poorlies are soon feeling better.

Weather is truly awful here today so very grateful for the hot spell at the beginning of the month. Have the best day you can all.
