Good morning from a chilly but very sunny Suffolk. So sorry to read of problems that some of you had with travel, scamming and asbestos issues. Hope today is a less stressful one.

We shall venture out after breakfast with the little dog for a walk on our local common and coffee and no doubt cake in the cafe there.

I have a pile of ironing which I keep trying to ignore. I’m always impressed by those of you who post about doing your ironing on the same day as your washing! Days usually pass between those 2 activities in this house.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Dry and 20° today. No need for heating or woollies here yet.
I have my Covid jab at a pharmacy 10 minutes walk from home this morning. I am so glad we moved into the city centre after hearing of the distances some have to travel.
We walked to a Turkish restaurant last night instead of getting a takeaway.
A Lidl shop later and then a restful evening.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and even a bit sunny. It’s changeable though and a bit nippy. I was glad of the blanket on top of the summer duvet last night. I’ve got TIB and I’ve just closed the bedroom window. Brr!

Here’s Matt.

Morning from a sunny S Hants, 8, WW, I hope your sister’s experience on Monday is straightforward.
gMattie I feel so cross for you, something that seemed inconvenient, but manageable, is turning into a monster.
Ash enjoy the rest of your break and you yours brook.
Today is newspaper day, garden plants need chopping and pulling out, the tomatoes are valiantly carrying on, so I’ll leave them.
Thank you for Matt Urms, a wry smile most mornings.
Enjoy your day all 🦩🦩

Good morning from a sunny but chilly W Kent
So sorry to hear all the various problems this morning, hope they can be resolved soon
Off to have our feet sorted out this morning and then a visit to DS and DIL later.
Best wishes to all

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where Alexa tells me its only 2°C. I had to ask her to repeat that! 🥶

Roses and Lilac, when I noticed a fraud on my bank card, my bank also allowed me some cash out. You should ask them.
We were about to go abroad the next day!

Yesterday was a totally wasted day. I went down to morning Mass, but skipped Sainsburys because I didn't feel good at all.
DD unexpectedly appeared with a replacement charger 😍and goodies from her greenhouse, despite previously never having had any interest in gardening at all.
After she left, I told DH I was going to sit in the conservatory and rest. I woke up three hours later!! 💤💤💤💤💤
This hasn't happened since my I started my new heart pills a few months ago, I hope it is a one off.. It is so annoying! I had plans to tidy up the porch cupboard.

Thanks for the good wishes about my foot, Susan. It is getting worse, but DH and DD had a look and there is nothing to be seen. I'm beginning to wonder if it is related to the many stress fractures in my foot I have had in the past.
In the past, the orthopeadic surgeon told me nothing much can be done about it.

Today I will catch up on the chores, that I didn't manage yesterday. DD is going to pop in after her flu and Covid injections, given due to my CEV status.
She left her brolly in the hotel, so I have liberated a new one for her from my present stash.

Due to my wasted afternoon, I never got back to praise your wreath, GMBatty, it looked fabulous!
Baubles, I hope your DH is feeling a bit better, Susan, good luck with the party and Ash, hoping the meet up with your son goes well. GM a virtual hug for you.
I have only skimmed through the posts, so will go back and read properly.

Have a good day folks and and praying for a gentle one for all the poorlies.

Good morning everyone .
My pre op appointment went well yesterday, only 12 days to go now.
We are just finishing breakfast and waiting for DGSs 2& 3 to arrive for the day. Park, lunch out and some crafts are planned. Will need a quiet evening.
Quite a mix of good and bad news today so wishing all the best day possible with a smile along the way.

Grandmabatty Sat 23-Sept-23 08:20:21

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and dry. RoseandLilac what a dreadful thing to happen. I hope something can be sorted out. Ash that's some journey! I'd have given up and gone home.
Yesterday I did the housework and washings, food shopping and got my autumn decorations out. I returned two jumpers which were too big and bought a cable needle and started dgs1's hat. I visited mum at night. She's struggling badly but was covid free so coming out of isolation. I hope that helps her. She's not eating much either and the nurses are worried about that.
Today, like Glammagran I have both grandsons coming for an overnight as dd and sil are going to a wedding. I haven't had dgs2 overnight before so it'll be a baptism of fire. I'm not sure what we will get up to but we'll see what the day brings. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Sat 23-Sept-23 08:21:29

Marydoll rest that foot!

Alygran Sat 23-Sept-23 08:22:54

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cloudy and chilly.
Roses what a nightmare. I hope you get something sorted.
I must go shopping this morning, the fridge is very bare. If it stays fair I will then get on with some gardening. Lots of plants have faded although some seem to think it’s the start of summer all over again. I need to do my bulb pots too.
Wishing you all a good day.

Urmstongran Sat 23-Sept-23 08:28:05

StacyAnna

RosesandLilac - I believe the bank will give you cash in that situation if you go in to the branch with ID.

I was just about to suggest this R&L then saw StacyAnna had already posted the solution. I hope you get sorted and can go on your painting holiday!

Good morning another bright sunny start here in the Black country.
I haven't read through yet did not wake until 8 very unusual for me.
Over to our friends in Redditch later no other plans will continue with my book, gardening was done yesterday so if it stays warm will be able to read outside and enjoy yesterday's efforts.
Saturday once again and full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Sar53 Sat 23-Sept-23 08:44:54

Good morning from a bright but chilly Essex coast.

We are going shopping this morning for the last few bits for our holiday next week. I'm sure coffee will feature somewhere.

Sorry to hear your sorry tale Roses, I hope you can sort something out with your bank.

Boasting proud nanny here. My youngest DGD aged 5 is becoming quite the artist. The infant school had to produce a birthday card and hers was the one chosen from Year 1 and yesterday she got a certificate as the winner of the Art Prize for the whole of the Junior school for her self portrait. She certainly doesn't get her artistic talent from me or her mum.

I hope those looking after grandchildren for the night survive intact, that was me last weekend. Thinking of everyone with worries or illness.

Have a pleasant Saturday xxx

Good morning from another gloriously sunny corner of N Bucks.
It’s fresh, but sunny and very still. Hard to believe storms are heading our way.
But it is the Equinox and equinoctial gales have always been a feature of our weather.
Anybody else remember singing this at school? (“Singing Together”)
“O Twas in the road Atlantic
'Mid the equinoctial gales,
That a young fellow fell over board
Among the sharks and whales.
And down he went like a streak of light,
So quickly down went he,
Until he came to a mer-ma-id
At the bottom of the deep blue sea.”
If you do, that’s your ear worm for today!

If not, here it is

Nothing much on today, I got sucked into watching films yesterday (Judgement at Nuremberg, and For a Few Dollars More) in prep for next weeks Film Studies , so apart from hanging a load of unpacked jumpers out to air in the sunshine, I achieved diddly squat else! Nice though.
So, back to the wardrobe cleansing today plus a bit of rugby and cuddling Foxyhound on the sofa.
With kind thoughts to all poorlies or caring for loved ones Marydoll, Kalu, Urmstongran and others I may have missed - wishing you all a pleasant day.
PS Kalu, if they haven’t done so already GNHQ will delete that for you if you “report” yourself. flowers

harrigran Sat 23-Sept-23 08:53:58

Good morning from a grey NE where we had overnight rain.
Lunch out yesterday was not the pleasant experience I was expecting. The waiting staff were brusque to the point of rudeness and service was slow. After the main course the waitress plonked the bill on the table and started to walk away. We were not offered dessert or coffee. Needless to say we will not be returning.
Family visiting this afternoon after GD1 has been to visit the University and GD2 has done her stint at her school open day.
Sister and BIL will visit too.
Still no word from bank complaints department who promised to get in contact by the 21st September, does it really take four months to open an ISA ?
Have a good weekend.

Glorious sunshine this morning and the joy of DD and DSiL’s welcome company. Flu jab at the surgery but no news yet of Covid one - last year they did them both together which was a good use of time for everyone.

I not sure what the day will bring but no doubt DD will have plans when she appears. Hope Rose solves her card problem - very upsetting - and that we all have a good day.

Taichinan Sat 23-Sept-23 09:09:03

Good morning Mick and good morning all. It's a beautiful sunny morning on the Angus coast - a very welcome blip, I understand, at the start of a week of rain. It's only 9° rising to 12°, so not exactly warm!
What a dreadful thing to happen RoseandLilac! Like karma, I can't
comprehend the mindset of anyone who commits an act like that. How have they reached adulthood without understanding right from wrong! Lots of encouraging advice on here, so I hope you can get something sorted in time for you to get away on your painting break.
Whitewave, so glad your sister is being dealt with so quickly. The NHS at its best.
Glad all went well yesterday Brook - enjoy the precious time with your son.
What a nightmare journey Ash! But enjoy today.
Nothing planned for me today - apart from dipping into my never-ending To Do list (and of course reading my book) and having a chat with my gardener and his grandson who will be here shortly.
Have the best day you can everyone - and Marydoll, try to enjoy the rest!

Marydoll Sat 23-Sept-23 09:15:27

Kalu

I have requested my post be deleted. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Kalu, many of us have done it!! I once posted a rant to DD on GN. I was mortified!!

Marydoll Sat 23-Sept-23 09:17:25

Just had some good news. Scottish Gas are sending us an amended bill and the huge DD has been amended. 🤞
Thanks for the newspaper article, Foxy.

Good morning from the East Yorkshire countryside. It’s a bright sunny morning so far.

Up a bit later this morning as we sleep like the proverbial logs when we are here! We arrived via a different route yesterday stopping off at one of the many garden centres in the area. It was new to us and we were very impressed.
Today we will head out somewhere perhaps Filey if we get a wriggle on. Then looking forward to Strictly tonight.

Have just skimmed through threads today but Grandmabatty I was impressed with your lovely autumn wreath picture yesterday. I’ve bought one I’m sad to say but would love to have a go at making one myself.

BlueSapphire Sat 23-Sept-23 09:19:06

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a fine day forecast, so I will go and gather up some washing.

Roseandlilac, what a terrible thing to happen; I do hope the bank sorts you out and you manage to get away to your painting holiday.

Went for my Covid jab yesterday, but had an eventful bus journey as the driver had to slam her brakes on very quickly, as someone walked off the pavement straight in front of the bus. All of us were thrown violently forwards, but luckily no injuries apart from shock and one or two bruises. I must admit I was a bit shaken.

Was very early for my Covid jab, and expected a long wait, but there was only one lady in front of me, so was in and out in 5 minutes.
I then went into Waitrose next door, in need of sustenance and a sit down to recover, and gave in to a strong cappuccino and a sausage butty...
Had a good mooch around the store afterwards and bought a few items that took my fancy.
Got home about 2.30 and spent a quiet afternoon with the newspaper and my book club read - 'Small Things Like These' by Claire Keegan, (thankfully only 67 pages). I then ordered both books for October/November; am trying a second-hand copy for one of them, half price at £5. Remembered my great-nephew's 13th birthday next week so also ordered a card for him. Must get it in the post on Monday.

Out tonight into town to see DD's concert band give a Last Night of the Proms performance - she plays flute. Will have an early dinner before that.

Happy Saturday everyone.

Grandmabatty Sat 23-Sept-23 09:29:09

Thank you for the lovely comments about the autumn wreath. It's the first one I have made and I was pleased with it. I'm a bit bah humbug about overly decorating seasons but I do like to acknowledge them. It's a learning point for grandsons. Once a teacher...
