Why does no one use their garden in tv soaps?

Just as nobody owns a washing machine.

Set limitations, in that they don't exist, weather constraints could delay filming and continuity, an episode can be filmed over several weeks.

Many years ago I remember Mavis in Corrie doing up her back garden 😄 That was probably one of the last times I watched it 😄

Several gardens in Corrie as well as back yards. Garden in the square in EastEnders. Also the allotments seem to be popular.

I remember the family with the Irish Dad and two boys had a 'yard' where the Dad used to fix motorcycles.

Sally has a hot tub in her garden.

And Yazmin had chickens in hers and Gail had a hole the size of the Rock of Gibraltar

What about Sallys conservatory and the lady who kept chickens in hers, and Gail’s garden had a sinkhole.

Yes it must be because they’re in the studio filming most of the time. I don’t watch CS very often now but when I do I’ve noticed they rarely leave the ‘Street’. I remember a whole episode when Fred took Bet Lynch & Betty out for a picnic in the ‘Rover’ and Mrs Walkers Rover ended up in the lake.

I'm sure Arthur Fowler was a keen gardener but I think it was an allotment.

Simple - these are frontages , the interior scenes are filmed in a studio.

Well they use their gardens a lot in the Aussie soaps. They are out there having barbeques or swimming in their pools! I don't watch UK soaps, too depressing and not enough bubbles.

Oh yes, wasn't Charlene's brother a gardener? Henry in Neighbours. He always wore dungarees and used to hose the plants.

I think most of them prefer the pub to be honest😂

Also so few scenes filmed at night. Couples will be out on a first date, or having a special anniversary or birthday meal, and it's always at lunchtime!
