Good Morning Tuesday 3rd October 2023
(62 Posts)Good morning from a dry, dark Torbay.
We have an early start as olddudders is returning to France today but will be back in November. His train leaves Newton Abbot at 7.30 a.m. and he'll be chez lui by mid evening, having been met at the local station by the cleaner/gardener who also feeds the cats in his absence.
Yesterday, I went to my Move It Or Lose It class where I managed most of the routines despite my hip being grumpy in the morning. Today I’m showing a new member around the theatre then attending Props so that will help me face the solitude after DH’s departure.
I hope today brings relief from pain and worries. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning, an ok weather day, bit of sun, bit of rain and bit of wind but not grim like yesterday
I was happily busy all day yesterday, did the upstairs inside windows and wondered at the clean outside glass as I have never had them cleaned. They must be self-cleaning. Blouse is nicely finished too
I want to go on a car ride to my favourite grocery shop this morning, I need some things to help with logistics as I have visitors next week. I think I will prep the fire with logs and starters and generally tidy as I have patterns all over the place
I may also start to crochet an improvised cafetiere cosy from my early thickest homespun wool
Have a good day
Good morning, another soggy start to the day here.
By mid morning yesterday I was wishing I’d stayed in bed 🫤, my new bank card refused to be activated, the tyre place man was nothing short of unpleasant and patronising and when I went to the bank they said getting another card and new pin will be another 5-10 working days.
Today it’s housework and making a rhubarb crumble I think. Apart from that it’s too wet to garden so I will do more crocheting.
Take care 🌹
Good morning from the South Downs. Forecast sunny, yesterday we had a shower of rain that latest all of 5 minutes the rest of the day was sunny.
Today is my sister’s birthday, so they are coming to lunch. I’m doing Tapas - about 6 different plates. Something tasty.
mick my dogs bowels are in sympathy with yours I think. I am really struggling to get him normal, we were out at 3am and now just back after another walk. I gave him mashed carrot and sweet potato with his dinner yesterday as that is supposed to harden things up. But that didn’t work. The vet seems to think that there is nothing wrong (which cost me £94 to be told that!) Oh well ever onwards.
Peace and harmony for everyone.
Good morning from the NE where we had overnight rain.
I have been awake since 3.30am, probably because I slept nine hours the night before.
Had message from DD to say that her biopsy results were back and they showed that the tissue was pre cancerous but no cancer present. We have all been so worried as she has lost weight too and was tiny to start with.
Another quiet day for me.
Thoughts are with poorly people.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and dry. RoseandLilac that sounds like a very irritating day. Ash time will pass quickly and you'll be together again before you know it.
A good day with dgs2 yesterday. No meltdowns like last week. Today I'm hoping for more of the same. Have a good day all
Good morning from Bristol. Yesterday, the weather wasn’t too bad until the evening when it rained heavily. Today is said to be mostly dry, so I’ve already washed, ready to hang out.
Ash, I don’t know how you manage your part part-time marriage; goodbyes must be so hard, the solitude difficult.
Iris seems to have had a good time with the Princess, though I’ve only seen a photo her mum sent. I’ll talk to her on Thursday when I visit.
I took time off the toddler group and went to Tesco with my neighbour. After lunch, I lay down to have a nap, but had a niggling feeling, it turned out tone the chiropodist coming in about 20 minutes to cut my nails! No nap 😴.
After that, having already prepared everything, I cooked the piccalilli and marrow chutneys. Not that much - 16 piccalilli and 10 marrow. I also prepared, printed and cut out the labels to glue on when I’ve washed the jars.
Today is quiet; just Taichi then I’ll try to be less busy.
My thoughts and prayers to those who need it, whether though illness, sorrow or solitude. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dry South Yorkshire. Venus is very bright in the morning sky at the moment.
I hope Olddudders has a good journey today, Ash. You’ll miss him.
Not sure what is on the cards for me today except to make some Anzac biscuits for GS (and a few for me!) and wash down the garage door which the birds have made a mess of. Oh and try and prepare something for writer’s group tomorrow.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning from Shropshire.
I have had a poor nights rest as the cyst on my head has burst again.I have no idea how long the waiting list I am on is and feel stressed at the thought of doing battle with the drs this morning.
Boiler in yesterday.Today is the shower and radiators.
Harri what a worry for you.If it’s any comfort I have had pre cancerous cells for 17 years.I have regular checks.I know every case is different.I pray that things remain stable for your DD🙏🏻💐
RosesandLilac I hope today is a better day for you.
Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩
Glad you had a good day yesterday Grandmabatty.
Safe travels to olddudders.
Just remembered it’s Welsh class today🤯
Good morning Mick & everyone.
A crow has just woken up here and had something to say, then it all went quiet here. Maybe his missus told him she wanted a lie-in!
It's still quite dark, so I can't say I'd blame her.
I'm in the Thanet area, in Kent. It's still quiet here, so far. Some mornings the early staff of the neighbourhood youth club empty bottles into a big outside bin, and I could not be more unhappy with them, but I think they're having a lie-in, too - YAAAAY!!
I'm hoping some stitching cards I've ordered will turn up today so I can get cracked on with those, if my hand is not in too much pain to hold one as I stitch onto it - I'm hoping to do some for my DC & my DGC for Christmas.
Anyway, I've not been asleep yet so I'm off for a nap.
Take care, everyone, but enjoy your day....oh, I'm hearing some birds waking up nearby, chittering & chattering!
Greyduster what are Anzac biscuits, please?
Susan I hope it can be sorted soon for you. 💐
Good morning all from a gloomy looking North Leicestershire.
Our gardener came yesterday and the garden looks great now. The tiler also came and put up the extra tiles we have decided would be good.
Today I have my Sing It Happy Choir this morning and then a friend and I are going to Oakham to see our friend in hospital.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Ali08 They are biscuits made from oats, coconut, golden syrup, flour and butter. Very easy to make. They were sent to Australian and New Zealand troops during the war as they’re very nutritious. GS’s favourite.
Early for me 🤣. Visited unicef site of Alberobello yesterday. see the conical roofed houses very pretty and then on to an olive oil producer. Beautiful weather.
Good morning from Cornwall where it's going to be sunny. Ali I live near a pub and have a bottle bin opposite me which is emptied noisily by Biffa at crack of sparrows every day!
Lovely brunch at my friend's yesterday, pic attached. She spoiled me and we nattered for hours. Hobbled home via back lanes I didn't know existed even though I was born here.
Today knitting group at the community café near the beaches.
Morning Mick, morning All from a damp corner of Somerset. Sun forecast later.
The carpet fitting went without a hitch and yes, we both like it. Spent a couple of hours refilling cupboards, ejected some bits. Bought some plants to re-fill troughs when I get to them. Must drop off a large unwanted wheeled bag at the charity shop, it contains a hardly worn winter coat as well as smaller items.
Wonderful photos scapa. Safe trip to your husband ash. What a worry susan, sometimes the department secretary will help with waiting times. Being less busy sounds a good plan mattie. Pleased Iris enjoyed yesterday. That’s better news harri.
Must be off. Grocery delivery first thing then serious dust removal.
Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.
Morning all from a gloomy looking West Oxfordshire. It’s so nice to be back home and in my own bed! It was 32 degrees and beautiful when we left Toulouse yesterday. Half an hour drive to the airport, flight delayed by an hour, bus to Oxford, taxi to home. Back just after 10 pm. The cats were pleased to see us. Lots of little bleating sounds. I should start taking my antibiotics for cellulitis again. I stopped for a day or two in France as the side effects were a bit grim. It is a WI coffee morning today. I also need to restock the fridge, which is almost bare. It was good to find a letter waiting confirming that my recent poo test was clear.
I spent most of the flight yesterday reading Rory Stewart’s autobiography, ‘Politics on the Edge!. Highly recommended.
Have a good day, especially those of you with difficulties.
Good morning from the Black country where there is blue skies.
Today we need to take card and present to friend and then we have our flu jabs still trying to book covid and shingles ones.
Safe travels those on the move, best wishes for anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed.
Take care all and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning from a much brighter Black Country, where it rained all afternoon yesterday.
No news as have not done anything or been anywhere as I have Covid. Today I feel much better but will still stay in. Will do another test tomorrow (that's the last of them left). Just feel lacking energy now, but at least the worst seems over.
MrJ seems to have avoided it so far!
Wishing you all the best day possible
Good morning from East Yorkshire where we have light blue skies but it’s a chilly 10 degrees.
Today I am off to my coffee morning. One of us has a new grandchild so lots of baby talk. Makes a change from the talk of illnesses etc that our get togethers seem to have morphed into as we age.
GS coming after school he seems to prefer to sit in front of the TV more these days but we try and find alternatives. He does enjoy games dominoes and tiddlywinks being favourites.
I hope you have some joy with the GP Susan a worry for you
I love those photos Scapal it’s an area I’d like to visit.
Take care everyone.
Good morning from Durham. Heavy rain from 6pm last night, but dry now. Left the towels out overnight, as they were too wet to bring in.
Heated (me) call to Octopus at 9am yesterday. They are on the case, but I’m not holding my breath - it’s very worrying, but it needs to be sorted before my next payment date.
Coffee this morning with a friend at a nearby garden centre then I’m going to tackle my trouser racks - probably half to go to the Charity Shop!
Hope those making a journey arrive safely, while others staying home enjoy their day and any already feeling under the weather have a better day today.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it’s cool and dry.
DH has an eye test this morning. It was originally scheduled for a couple of weeks ago but he was coughing so much that I took it instead. His cough is worse now so I’ve had to warn the optometrist who’s also my friend, she’ll have water on hand and has extended the appointment slot.
Thinking of you all.
