Thanks gala - I shall read about them. They are so unusual.
Whitewave so sorry about your sister, and such a worry just before you go for your own op too. Sending love to you both for successful outcomes x

Taichinan Tue 03-Oct-23 14:07:55

Best wishes for tomorrow*ginny*. You'll be so glad to have that behind you x

Greyduster Tue 03-Oct-23 13:37:14

Good luck tomorrow Ginny. You’ll be absolutely fine and home in no time.

Gala Tue 03-Oct-23 12:11:46

Taichinan - those unusual whitewashed houses are called "trulli". The trulli of Alberobello in Puglia are built using a drystone wall technique. They are historically very important & are protected. There is a lot of information about them on the UNESCO website.

Late again!! Took dgd to school then to hairdressers for a much needed cut and blow. Just arrived home when the Sainsbury’s delivery arrived. Just finished all the putting away so sat down to read your posts.
Good luck tomorrow Ginny. Thinking of those with worries. Safe travels to those on the move.
I could only wish I had more exciting thinks to share. I envy some of you 😀. Hopefully three weeks today I will be in Dundee.

Crossed posts Ginny, hope all goes well tomorrow x

My birthday meal for my sister has been cancel,Ed, as she has been called for a scan today, and has been told she will need to have further surgery and reconstruction at East Grinstead either next aTuesday or a week on Tuesday.

It seems that there is a question of spread. However, it is much more optimistic than it used to be as within the last 3 years there have been a group of very successful medicines dealing with aggressive melanoma.

I’m hoping that it will be next Tuesday as apart from the awful wait, I an having my operation on Thursday and won’t be able to drive her there, although DH will.

I’m dropping over to her house today instead to deliver card, present, flowers and desert. Wish I could drop in good news!

ginny Tue 03-Oct-23 10:30:58

Thanks for the good wishes. x

Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire after overnight rain.
Another day of doing nothing, I’ll go back and read all of your posts later.
Have a good day everyone, hope all the poorlies start to feel better very soon.

Blossoming Tue 03-Oct-23 10:10:11

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Lancashire where it is currently 12°C.

I am feeling much better, I’m usually a cheerful person but I have the occasional wobble when things seem to pile on and squash me. I got on with my physio exercises yesterday and will do the same today. My balance has been dreadful and I need to avoid falling. Hopefully spend a little time on my exercise bike as I’m not able to walk very far. I feel your pain Marydoll, life can be so frustrating.

Good news from your DD Harrigran, you must be so relieved.

I too wondered about the Anzac biscuits Ali08, thanks for explaining Greyduster they sound delicious.

It must have been an entertaining few hours wondering about your secret admirer Taichinan!

Liberty your trip sounds wonderful, you must be getting excited now, I would be.

Have the best day you can all 🌹

Jaxjacky Tue 03-Oct-23 10:05:34

🤞🍀*Ginny*. Hope your op goes to plan and a successful outcome.

Good morning from a sunny N. Bucks.
Haven’t posted for a few days as I haven’t done much but potter at home. Tomorrow I am having my hip op’ so have kept away from my groups and clubs or busy places just as a precaution.
Today I shall make sure I have every for admission.
This afternoon I will be supervising DH in the garden. Just a few bulbs and winter pansies to plant.
Gentle thoughts to all in pain or troubled in any way and a good day wished for all.

aggie Tue 03-Oct-23 09:34:58

Good morning from a bright cold breezy Co Armagh
I haven’t put the heating on yet , but it might go on after the expected warm week end coming up
Daughter and Granddaughters are visiting from Edinburgh soon , they never feel the cold ,
I’ve stripped the last of the leaves off the tomatoes in the greenhouse but leaving the fruits to ripen , I used to bring in the vines and hang them up in the kitchen to ripen , but no space here
Wishing everyone the best day possible 🙏🏼🕯️

Georgesgran Tue 03-Oct-23 09:28:46

Whitewave I’d follow the bland rice suggestion, but you can also buy kaolin mix for dogs to ‘dry things up’.

EkwaNimitee Tue 03-Oct-23 09:09:43

Good Morning Mick and everyone from currently sunny Carlisle where showers may or may not happen later.

I progressed the housework and laundry yesterday and there will be more of the same today, I'm already wishing I was still on my cruise with none of this stuff to bother about!
I'd like to get out in the garden and do a bit of tidying up if the weather permits, my chest infection seems to be clearing up hopefully.

My thoughts are with all of you with health problems, your own or your loved ones. These are challenging times for getting things sorted out health-wise.

And have a good day everyone.

GrannySomerset Tue 03-Oct-23 09:05:00

Supermarket visit will be today’s highlight but after a couple of quite busy days I am happy to do not much. I so mourn the energy I used to have and didn’t appreciate nearly enough, but doubt if I am unusual in this.

So sorry Marydoll is struggling but glad she has a kind and sympathetic dentist - makes such a difference. Hope Olddudders has a good journey back to France and that everyone’s plans work well.

Kalu Tue 03-Oct-23 09:03:17

I will add another tip for you WW whenever one of our dogs had upset stomachs I only fed them white boiled rice until things settled.

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny Isle of Man with DD and DS. Nice day yesterday as we took the steam train into Douglas (not. My favourite place on the island) and I get as excited as an eight year old, seeing all the pretty little stations on the way and feel like something out of the Railway Children. We spent time walking around Douglas and DD could tell from her new fangled watch that I had done more than the maximum steps for the day.
I’m about to enjoy a full English breakfast and then on the electric railway up to Ramsey. Haven’t spotted DS yet but think he may give another railway venture a miss…
Thank you for you kind thoughts yesterday and thinking of all those with troubles 🌺

Grammaretto Tue 03-Oct-23 08:58:45

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Another nice day. I have 2 visitors today. One is a cousin of DH who wants to discuss family history (his) another is my old school friend whom I rarely see. I didn't mean them to come at the same time so I hope they get on
Where's my social secretary gone!
I also have a chiropractor appointment in 20 mins.
Gaelic class this evening. We all have to write a paragraph for homework.

Ash it is almost a weekly commute for you and DH. It must feel like your own ferry.

I am glad you seem to be getting back to normal Mick but waking up very early.
Not so good for Marydoll or for roses
Sending good wishes.

How proud you must be of Iris, gMattie

Have the best day you can everyone.

Jacs7 Tue 03-Oct-23 08:58:40

Good morning everyone from a grey and drizzly north Kent coast.

Nothing much planned today except to walk into town for our flu vaccine from the pharmacy. Covid booked for Saturday. Then might go through our itinerary with DH for our holiday in January. Most things are done; waiting to hear back from the GP surgery about a letter of exception for yellow fever as we are deemed to be at risk from the vaccine.

Hope those unwell start to feel a bit better; I found after a recent bout of covid that it takes about a month before the feelings of fatigue start to lift.

Safe journeys for those travelling. Hope you all have a good day.

And a very good morning to everyone from a surprisingly bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton. We had a terrific thunderstorm yesterday evening, and torrential rain for a couple of hours; I used to be frightened of thunderstorms when I was a child, but after living in Singapore and Northern Australia for a few years, they no longer worry me.

A good Yoga class yesterday, then home.where, duster,.polish and Hoover to hand, I tackled the dust and cat fur lurking in my sitting and dining rooms. Re-arranged a few bits and pieces, and found shelf space for a pile of books.
Then put together an enormous spicy mince in the slow cooker; was delicious , and when I portioned it out there was enough for 6 meals! Must.get them in the freezer this morning.
Spent the afternoon reading my new book, nearly halfway through now. It seems to be an easy read.

Pottering this morning and health walk this afternoon; we'll keep to hard surfaces I think as the grass will be soggy after last night's rain.

My thoughts are with all suffering aches and pains, and other worries. Have the best day you can.

Kalu Tue 03-Oct-23 08:54:45

Good morning all from a drizzly Glasgow where the sun is trying to break through, I live in hope.

I had a productive day yesterday, bed changes done, bed linen washed and hung out to dry on a breezy sunny day. Topiary shrubs and straggly ivy tidied up too. We have had so many wet days and whenever it is dry I try to catch up in one day when I inevitably overdo it. I slept like a log last night.

Have a pleasant day all and kind thoughts to those with worries and sadness.
