Good morning from Bristol. We had very little of the forecast rain yesterday, so I suspect it to be similar today.
I had a quiet morning, sewing, and had a visit from my neighbour. She showed me how to use my night storage heaters. One was simple, just switch on; the other was very complicated and she’d forgotten how it worked. Much laughter!
In the afternoon, I went to a women’s group where we had a talk by a lady who worked for an organisation protecting against hate crimes. It was very nice but as she needed to b3 somewhere else, it was rather rushed and information telescoped.
Tai chi in the village today, then dinner with DD and family. I believe it’s half term next week and they go away..
May those with troubles find ease, Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Goof morning and the day will be mostly dry and sunny

The weather was awful yesterday, torrential for almost the whle day, beating down on the windows while the wind was howling. I am thinking of those having bad weather today, I think it will be even worse than it was here

Thank goodness for a hobby that stretches my mind and has me going up and down stairs as that was the only exercise I had yesterday. I am going to get myself out today, do a bit of sewing and also spend some time making vegetable juice

Take care and have a good day

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 19-Oct-23 06:22:01

Good morning, we also had plenty of rain yesterday, but no winds, rain forecast for today as well.
Covid jab at lunchtime today, I’ve also almost run out of my new medication, as it doesn’t appear on my repeat prescription list, I’ll need to talk or see someone at the surgery today, so an early phone call to the surgery and hopefully another prescription to collect tomorrow.
Apart from that another day of staying warm and being idle so that I don’t cough.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire and last night it bucketed down. Our walking group has been cancelled today due to a yellow weather warning for more heavy rain. To be fair, the woods will no doubt be a quagmire by now and as I had a very sleepless night, I’m not too concerned. I will go over to DD’s for lunch, and then call in on my niece on the way home to see her little granddaughter.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning, it’s very wet here in south Gloucestershire, yesterday it pretty much deluged from mid morning onwards, even our hilltop roads were flooded.
I had my hair done, much better, then double jabbed in the afternoon- my arm’s a bit sore and I have a slight headache but nothing worse.
Today housework, make a boiled fruit cake and dog walks.
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning from dark, calm Sefton.
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and comprehensive advice from textiles to topical treatments, including stockists. I value it highly, now have a plan and feel the strength of your support. This is GN at its finest.
The continuing progress of our post-operative members, including an OH, gladdens my heart. Sending healing thoughts to those who are unwell together with supportive hugs, as always, to Urms and Kalu.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and raining. The rain is to be on most of the day I believe.
Yesterday was another good day with the boys. Dgs1 is such a helpful wee soul. He does have his moments and likes to wind up his brother. Dgs2 is one of the most stubborn children I have ever encountered! But he's very sweet too. We went on a walk to Polmont Woods in the afternoon. Dgs1 was delighted to see squirrels galore and a rabbit bolted right in front of him. However he pointed out that dgs2 was missing a shoe. I hadn't even noticed. So we had to retrace our steps with dgs2 limping along beside me. Fortunately we came across it at the entrance to the wood.
Today will be an indoor childcare because of the forecasted weather. We might get some puddle splashing done but otherwise inside play. I'm going to build dens in various rooms in my wee house and I'm prepared for mayhem. I'll visit mum at night, hopefully. Spaghetti carbonara for dinner. Have a good day all

Good morning from a calmer Torbay than yesterday when we had high winds and rough seas affecting roads and railway lines, wreaking havoc on the seafronts, especially with the beach huts, not yet put away for Winter. One beachside business in Torquay was washed away by the sea!

Last night, the play (The Haunting) from a returning visiting theatre company was excellent and well attended with a nearly full house! It made a change to be able to sit back and enjoy the experience as I wasn’t on duty.

Hope this horrid storm loses strength as it moves North especially for our Scottish grans. 🦩🌊☁️🌬🦩

Good morning from a rain soaked South Downs. The wind has died down but we are supposed to add thunder and lightening to the mix all day today!

Yesterday I felt tired, so went with the flow and did very little all day - I even got out a beef bourguignon from the freezer I had previously frozen which made life easy.

Today all being well, I intend to make the Christmas puddings.
Also wondering if it is worth making my own candied peel for the cake, as I have never liked the stuff you buy. I did buy the big sort once but it was a devil of a job to chop into small pieces. It will be quite pricey though, but I guess you can freeze it and it will last.

I must also re-start a cardigan I am knitting that I put aside and haven’t picked up for at least a month, otherwise it’s going to end up in the cupboard with all the other half finished stuff.

Every year before Christmas one of my genres I read is the Christmas Who dun’ it and the first has arrived! So that will be read and hopefully enjoyed.

Everyone seems reasonably ok at the moment which is good to hear although hugs to those following my post who are feeling under the weather for whatever reason.

Roast Pork etc plus chocolate mousse a La Delia. For supper.

Peace and harmony to all both here and around the sad world.

Morning Mick, morning All. Think it’s dry out there after so much rain yesterday.

Our day had gone much as planned with the addition of some time with our younger granddaughter. Her Mum has had to race off to her own mother who is very poorly, looks like she will be there for some while, the distance (4-5 hours) will cause and is causing huge logistical issues

Surprising news came later in the evening. Our daughter in law had arrived home. Passing mobility and obs tests for discharge she opted to be home - immediately. Goodness. That’s five days post op not the 14 they had been told to plan for. A very determined woman. Wow. So pleased for her as she was longing for her son we’re also a bit concerned it’s too soon. Our son is home for the next ten days and will ensure rest, rest and more rest. Once Mr C’s cold has subsided we’ll arrange a short visit It will be so good to see her.

We’d just calmed down from that when Mr C found a puddle in the kitchen. The under sink stop tap was leaking. A quick empty of the cupboard - where does all that stuff come from - something was tightened, a container placed underneath to catch any drips and we went to bed. As far as I can see this morning it’s dry. Mr C will don his forensic head when he wakes to be certain otherwise another call to the plumber. We also need to try to fix our dash cam which decided not to work yesterday. Can do without more surprises this week.

Our older granddaughter has her driving test this morning. She’s pretty tense and emotional about family issues and school stressors, bound to impact her. We’ll have everything crossed. It won’t be the end of the world if she fails, just feel like it to her.

Thoughts are with everyone with personal mountains to climb Have the best day you can everyone.

kittylester Thu 19-Oct-23 07:02:59

Good morning all from a calm North Leicestershire. The forecast looks more exciting.

We have a slightly bonkers day ahead. We have 3 grandchildren for most of the day, a Sainsbury's delivery around 5pm and then DD2 and co are coming for a meal and to use our beds before they fly off on holiday tomorrow.

Sending best wishes to everyone with sorrow and worries in their life.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 19-Oct-23 07:19:46

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
OH is taking his turn at last to get up at the crack of dawn and let the decorators in! I will have a lie in until 8.30 am. The study/bedroom is looking amazingly red!
I have a hair appointment at lunchtime. Fortunately I can park nearby and it’s a less than five minute walk.
Younger son alerted me to a book of short stories by Susannah Clarke, who wrote Jonathan Strange etc., and Piranesi. It is very good - Jane Austen crossed with the Brothers Grimm.
Have a good day everyone.

Jaxjacky Thu 19-Oct-23 07:26:53

Morning from a sodden S Hampshire, rain and wind yesterday afternoon and overnight, it’s mild though.
Dentist and hygienist yesterday has left me with an ulcer on my tongue, annoying.
Couple of trips out today and milk to drop for friends returning from a month in the sun overnight tonight.
Fresh pasta for dinner.

Grammaretto Thu 19-Oct-23 07:28:09

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. The power has just come back on but it seems quiet out. Heavy rain forecast but mostly further north.

It's week 2 of the school holidays so DD is run ragged and there's little I can do to help. I'm too far away to take the bairns for a few hours.
Yoga today and ceilidh dancing tonight.
Glad you are on the mend Mick and Oops
Thinking of Kalu, Urms and Marydoll and all who are poorly.

Susan56 Thu 19-Oct-23 07:29:10

Good morning from Shropshire.According to the weather forecast light rain and light wind.

I had my blood test yesterday morning.Four hours later the dr called to say my blood test last December had been read incorrectly by a physicians associate and the dose of one of my medications had been adjusted in error.I now have the correct dose.I feel very upset although realise I just have to get on with it but this is the second time this has happened.I hope the horrible symptoms I have had can be reversed or at least not get worse. The dr is ringing me again next week then repeat bloods in eight weeks.

I am hoping for a quiet day at home today before a busy weekend.

Stay safe everyone and have the best day you can🌺🦩

Pittcity Thu 19-Oct-23 07:31:13

Good morning from Colchester where it's damp and mild (the heating hasn't clicked on) and the wind has dropped. Yesterday saw heavy rain and wind from late afternoon until after I was asleep. More is forecast but with a temperature of 18° today.
I have a local residents focus group this morning. Luckily it's online so no need to brave any weather.
Expecting DH home from fishing later with loads of wet stuff everywhere. Chicken curry for tea.
Love to all 🦩 x

monk08 Thu 19-Oct-23 07:33:32

Good morning all from a wet Black country although the rain has stopped and we haven't had nearly as bad as some Ash its looks dreadful your way let's hope for a calmer day.
Well I managed an appointment for DH drs seems to think its gout tablets for 3 days then once its calmed down some blood tests for confirmation. Whilst in surgery enquired about shingles jab and have an appointment for lunchtime today.
Best wishes and virtual hugs where needed enjoy your Thursday everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Gingster Thu 19-Oct-23 07:38:34

Good morning all and it looks dreary but not raining at the moment.
The rain started at school pickup time yesterday (it always does), and continued for most of the evening.
I’ll pick DGD up again for school and other nanna will collect and take her to Brownies.

Yesterday I walked to Mass and then on to the jewellers to see if they would repair my wedding and engagement rings. I had them cut off about 3 months ago and have had to wait until my finger recovered. I don’t think it’s going to get much better so we’ll go ahead with the repair. I’ve missed them!

I then walked up to town to the market and met my friend for coffee. She got up and paid and when I returned home, realised I hadn’t even offered to pay or even thanked her for paying. How rude am I. I quickly phoned and thanked her. 😤.

Bowls club for me this morning and Christmas card writing this afternoon. That will be one job out if the way.

Ash that poor man who has lost his beach business. He’s also lost another business too. Not fair!

Ooo WWM I fancy a Christmas whodunnit! Which one would you recommend?

Take care all 🌻

Marydoll Thu 19-Oct-23 07:52:40

Good morning all from a windy Glasgow, where its 10 °C.

A quiet day yesterday and another quiet one ahead for me. Best wishes to all the poorlies.

Have a good day folks.

brook2704 Thu 19-Oct-23 07:52:54

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s wet and windy although hopefully I think we’re going to miss the worst of storm Babet here.
Great news that your Dil is home corner, I hope she can take it easy, I’m sure your DS will look after her very well
A bit of housework and sorting out stuff this morning then later we said we’d look round a few bathroom showrooms for a few ideas as we’re redoing our en-suite soon. I’ve spent ages looking online already but now need to see things in person
That’s really upsetting Susan I’d be very wary from now on and ask for everything to be double checked. I hope lessons have been learned and the doctor can offer some reassurance to you when you speak next week
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Georgesgran Thu 19-Oct-23 07:56:43

Good morning from Durham. There was a bit of rain overnight and it’s windy out there, but nowhere near as bad as expected - yet. Let’s see what today and tomorrow brings.
I too am being double jabbed today - any reaction will decide what I do later, but irrespective, will walk Little Dog before dark - he’s actually called Babet, like the storm!
My dear friend would have been 69 today. I’ll drop some flowers off for her DH as I’m passing.
Ordered new conservatory furniture yesterday - not sure I’ve made the right choice, but it’s done now.
Hoping to hear on-going improvements for our poorly GNs and loved ones.
Best wishes to all.X

harrigran Thu 19-Oct-23 07:58:53

Good morning from a rainy NE.
We did not get any strong winds or heavy rain yesterday in fact it was quite pleasant.
Nothing planned for today so will tidy round and maybe wash some towels.
SIL is improving after his bout of covid but is weak, he has been poorly ever since returning to his home in Brussels.
GD's half term starts today as tomorrow is an inset day. I will be seeing her and DS tomorrow.
Take care those under the storm path and thoughts are Aith poorly people.

ginny Thu 19-Oct-23 08:03:26

Good morning all.
Today is a shall we shan’t we day. DH has to take the car to a garage and we may go to the cinema and to some near by shops. Will see how I feel after breakfast.
This evening we are baby sitting for a couple of hours as. DD and SIL have overlapping arrangements.
A good day wished for all.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 19-Oct-23 08:10:12

Morning all from a grey S E Essex

I am off for a manicure and pedicure this morning then driving over to Gingster’s patch to my hairdresser for a cut and colour.
