Were you aware animal testing of cosmetics is now permitted for many cosmetic ingredients?

I’ve just completed an opinion survey. One of the questions was on animal testing for cosmetics. I always thought this was completely banned in 1998. However, earlier this year the government admitted that the full ban was changed in 2019 and now covers only 20% of cosmetic ingredients. I shall certainly be looking more thoroughly before I buy, even my favourite items.

I wear makeup rarely, but more than I wear an evening dress (once in 10 years) or stilettos (also never).

I don't refuse makeup as nobody is offering it to me and nobody expects me to wear it, Wombat
"Refusing" implies it is something being forced on you or expected of you.

Also, in my opinion, my appearance doesn't need to be improved. It is improved with the right makeup though.... That is something I can see with my own eyes. For about 362 days of the year I don't bother with makeup - but occasionally it is strangely, quite nice.

I have always felt equal to both other women and to men. I haven't ever worn makeup every day as some people choose to. I don't think it's anything to do with equality to be honest.

It’s nothing to do with equality. It’s a matter of personal choice. I’m definitely improved by some eye makeup and whilst I used to have to look presentable and ‘polished’ for work, now I wear eye makeup every day for myself and to look my best for my OH. A little goes a long way and makes a big difference. I’m no natural beauty and don’t kid myself in that department.
