Good morning all. Damp & gloomy here in Sefton.
A busy day yesterday. A successful singing group in the morning where one of our number who is in hospital was able to join us via FaceTime. Oh the wonders of technology. Then a visit to the travel agents to book a week in March next year in Lanzarote where we will join DS2 & his family for a week. Looking forward to that. It should get us through whatever January & February throws at us.
U3A this morning helping the treasury team with the finances. It is usually very busy. I may need a lie down afterwards! Bread making this afternoon which I forgot to do last night.
I will try to catch up later. Have a good day.

Good Morning Tuesday 24th October 2023
(50 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Up very early but its dry outside , a busy day awaits as I have to get a early bus into Banbury for a out patient appointment at Horton as to my Glaucoma check up .
Hoping that I will get seen on time and can return home at a reasonable time .
Take Care,
Mick
Morning all from a grey West Oxfordshire. I was up half a dozen times in the night, which is very annoying. Lots of odd dreams too. OH and I are going out for lunch. This will be my first outing away from the house for two weeks. He will drive. Then we’ll do a Waitrose shop. I wasn’t up to doing it on my own yesterday. I used to think I was fairly stoic, but not anymore!
Have a good day everyone.
Just found you on here. I used to write in quite a lot but some people went elsewhere and I cound not see how to follow so am plesed to see your messge. Still plodding along here in the north. Now using the Yellow Peril - my mobility scooter - a lot more . That is if I dont crash into the flipping potholes. Have been having a rant at council about appalling paths and roads with endless potholes, barriers to mobility scooters etc. Hope all is well with you
Good morning from North Yorkshire. Grey and gloomy this morning so far.
I’m off to RHS Harlow Carr to meet a friend this morning. Book Club this afternoon.
Wishing you all a good day.
sorry that was meant for Mick
Ah I am in north yorks as well. was booked to go to the weekend and have the buggy at Harlow Carr but it was cancelled due to the weather so will have to get back down there. It looked very good the last time I was down. I am planning to go to Thirsk this am and get some extra bulbs to plant up. Dont want them at christmas as I am a singer and very busy. Want to see some lovely hyacinths etc in middle of january when the weather is bad and no spare cash . Need to check out swimming pool there and one or two more things and then back to do some sorting out before computer club this pm. Looks grey and misty but might clear up later.
Good morning all from Glasgow where it is a chilly 9deg but dry.
The clearing out I have steadily been doing for weeks now is quite a pile in the garage, ready for collection by a man with a caged van which is aptly named, Joe’s Junk. One more job off the to do list.
A visit to our local M&S food hall with my cousin after which an obligatory coffee nearby for a catch up blether, something we are both very accomplished in.
Have a pleasant day all with thoughts and gentle cuddles to all struggling through difficult times.
Good morning. Still but grey in N. Bucks at the moment.
I have an appointment to have my wound checked this morning. The swelling does now seem to be going down and I am doing well with exercises and walking but not overdoing it.
Afterwards we have booked seats for ‘The Great Escaper and then we will have a meal somewhere.
Glad Marydoll is feeling a little better but sorry that her outing has been cancelled. Kind thoughts to all who are under the weather or have other troubles . Wishing all a good day.
Morning all from a grey and drizzly S E Essex.
We have The Imp today and we’re hoping to go to Hyde Hall (RHS Gardens) so he could let off steam and do the spooky Halloween stuff, weather has scuppered that. So it will be craft/Lego and spooky films 👻🎃
This evening DH is out to dinner with his friends and I am going’s out for dinner with my longest friend to celebrate her birthday (we decided to go out on/around our birthdays as opposed to buying more stuff )
Have a good day folks 🦩🙋♀️🎃
Good morning from Durham. It’s wet outside, but forecast to dry up later. I hope so, as I have DD2’s towels and bedding already washed and to line dry. I collected Little Dog last night, but only for one or two sleeps. DGS2 was on fine form - such a good little talker.
Not a lot planned today other than a trip to the charity shop, perhaps stop off at Next and a phone call from a friends ex-husband. A lengthy tale, which I won’t expand on.
Obviously, a dog walk before dark.
Pleased MaryD is feeling better and that goes for others feeling not to chipper.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning from Shropshire.Raining at the moment but a mainly dry day is forecast.
DD very kindly shared her germs with me so am not feeling great this morning.I have Welsh class this afternoon but may have to do the zoom class instead as don’t want to share my germs.
Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩
Good morning from a very grey NE.
The forecast says expect thunder by 10am.
I had a lazy day yesterday so must get on and do the washing and ironing.
Hope your are feeling better today Marydoll.
Enjoy the half term break with the DGC.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a barely light and a damp Carlisle.
I'm not brilliant this morning having had a sleep disturbed by weird dreams and painful kidney threatening trouble again....
Therefore, I shall plod through the day and take it as it comes. I'm going to cancel my covid appointment, it won't be wise to have it in the circumstances.
Yesterday I went into town for a routine blood test then checked out the trousers in M&S. I think I might buy a pair of the dreaded ankle grazers....now they have lengthened their sizes, my usual regulars will now rest on the top of my foot which is where I like them!
Good luck with your meeting grandMattie. You and your fellow residents may have a battle there as it seems to be the trend to lose wardens in retirement complexes and sheltered housing.
Matt gave me a laugh Urmston, what a talent he is.
Have the best possible day everyone.
I have the house to myself after a week of craftsmen and am enjoying both the peace and the new internal doors which look even better than I had hoped. I know my late friend would thoroughly approve of her legacy being spent in this way and it has been well worth the upheaval. Have arranged to have the water damaged ceiling repainted in a few weeks and a new hall floor at the beginning of November so my nest will be ready for the winter months when I spend so much time in it. The boiler appears to be behaving but fingers crossed …..
Good luck with your meeting, gMattie, sounds like a change in terms and conditions which should be robustly challenged, but why is everything such a battle? Sorry MrDoll is feeling rough and hope things improve rapidly. I should have had my Covid booster this week but the road past the surgery is being resurfaced and the session has been rebooked for next week instead.
—Grammaretto— 🤣
A late best wishes on your anniversary Nankate I am out with friend for lunch not decided where yet we go for natter more than food. Best wishes to all poorlies or those with problems.
A later good morning from a grey and damp Northampton, hoping I can get out on a health walk this afternoon.
Yesterday stayed fine, so I cut the back grass in the afternoon, and then trimmed most of the edges, but couldn't finish as my back was really aching from the exertion. Looks neater, anyway, and the bit I couldn't finish can't be seen from the back windows!
Not much else planned for today; I may strip and change the bed this morning, but will leave the washing till another day.
Have a lovely cruise glammagran, I take it you are on one of the Spirits! Lovely ships, I am on the other one next April. Can't wait!
Welcome madeleine!
Hope all your days go well.
Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast.
Enjoyed coffee with a couple of friends from the bookgroup yesterday, next time we will push the boat out and have lunch in our smartest hotel, ladies who lunch😁
I then tripped off to what I thought was a folk club session, but I had the wrong Monday. Once a month. Was actually relieved and came home but fell asleep in a chair for ages. Slept well last night so maybe I needed it. Am coming to the end of James Norton’s appearances in Grantchester. Won’t bother with it when my heart throb leaves 💕
I’m on the desk at the music club and singing so will get myself organised for that.
Welcome madeliene and thoughts to all with troubles 🌺
Yes, BlueSapphire Adventure last year, Discovery this time. It’s very hard to anticipate how the weather will be but I expect it will mostly indoors going down past France and Spain. We needed warm clothing as we are going up Mt. Teide at 12,000 feet (no we aren’t walking up!!).
Good morning Mick and all from rainy Lancashire, currently 10°C. It’s looking very gloomy outside and rain is expected to last all day.
Yesterday I had a lovely productive day. More laundry done, where does it all come from? Cleaned and re-assembled the GTech AirRam. Then, oh wonder of wonders, went out for a walk. MrB accompanied me as he doesn’t trust me to stay upright on my own. So we had a lovely stroll in the late Autumn sunshine. Snoozed until dinner time, watched a wonderful YouTube documentary about the Baroque era and went to bed early, tired and happy.
Today I must vacuum bedrooms and landings. MrB has been shopping, I’ve done my morning exercises and enjoying a lovely mug of tea.
Grandmattie my ‘summer wardrobe’ is shorts, vest tops and t-shirts and a few cool dresses. In winter it’s jeggings, thermal vests and long sleeved tops and a few warm dresses. It may sound grand when I say I’m changing my wardrobe over but as you can see it really isn’t
. It just means I put the things I’ll be wearing most in easy reach.
Music and Memories sounds great fun Gingster.
Glad you’re feeling better Marydoll, hope MrDoll isn’t suffering too much.
Enjoy your cruise Glammagran it sounds marvellous.
As always my thoughts are with those dealing with troubles, may today bring some comfort.
Have a good day all 🦩🦩
Good morning from a dreich Co Armagh
My Daughter had to leave her car to the garage for a recall , so no Monday shopping
Instead we potted up tulips in pots , topped them off with violas and crocus bulbs , they do look quite smart , and will be nice in the spring hopefully
Nothing planned for today , I should do a few birthday cards and the Christmas cards , but it’s hard to get going !
I have a candle lit for those who need it
Morning just. I have Covid still testing positive after 11 days of being unwell. Haven't had my booster yet l put it off because I've had to have a lot of tests for whatever else is making me feel unwell. As soon as I test negative l have to wait 28 days which will bring me up to the end November hopefully. In the meantime I'm going to have to the very cautious probably start to wear a mask again. So many things planned for November and December.
Sherwood is dry and brightening up. Glad l live on the 2nd floor.
Hope everyone has the best day they can.
