My adopted Dad is related to a famous author of a famous series of books, and an ivory importer who started a company selling billiard and snooker balls that is still running today selling croquet sets and other traditional toys. On my adoptive mum's side is a member of a well know 60s pop group/jazz band
My Irish grandmother claimed she was descended from Brian Boru (sp?), king of Ireland, but most Irish people claim that, and most of them probably are!
My brother is famous in his particular scientific discipline, but not a household name so doesn’t really count.
My daughter married to a cousin of very famous footballer ….that’s why her wedding was on a Friday as he had a premiership match against United on the Saturday ….and he was best -man. The cousins were brought up together and went to same school. Then he was at my son in law’s mother funeral as coffin bearer . Very , very nice man….the only problem was wedding was besieged by gawpers trying to get autographs and selfies….. what is the matter with people ??!! ….but we’d thought to hire ‘protectors’ so he could enjoy the day and NOT spoil the wedding!
Husband's auntie was an iconic soap star, she came to our wedding and my two grans insisted on having their photo taken with her, and both kept the photo framed on their mantelpieces to show off to visitors!
I have a former chancellor of the exchequer in the family tree from Victorian times.
Very distantly related (many times removed, however that works - I'm too thick to understand it) to the Bonham-Carters.
DH's father must have been friendly with one of the Bonham Carters, I have a postcard somewhere sent to him by one of them in ths 1930s, (can't remember which one) saying, thanks for letting me know that I left my raincoat behind, will collect it next time 😃
No, everyone is definitely C, D or lower list celebrities at best: a first division footballer after the war, he featured on cigarette cards, a member of the English Women's cricket team in the early years of the century before women's cricket began to get publicity.
DS makes sporadic appearances on tv every year in fairly high profile programmes.
