You have £100 and must spend it on yourself, what would you buy?

I already get my hair done every 6 weeks, I have plenty of clothes and jewellery, and enough electronic equipment.

Whatever would I spend it on?

In the good old days I would probably buy a Record Album or 2, film for my camera, a couple of good books a new pair of shoes…….

Over to you, you can’t put it towards household expenses or food.

I know you said not on household stuff but....I like to be warm & cosy, so some would definitely go towards my heating!
A nice meal out, or a few takeaway meals delivered to me - I'm not one for spa days etc. Although, I'd kind of like to try those little fish that eat dead skin and psoriasis, they sound good!
I've recently had my hair done, am happy with my colour.
Maybe a bottle of perfume, I particularly like The Body Shop's White Musk, so maybe a new bottle with body cream & talc.
I'm sure I'd find plenty to spend it on.

Ali hmm sorry it’s ring fenced and has to be spent on you, yourself and nothing else.

No household expenses and no food.

Are we conditioned to think that any spare money has to be ploughed back into the household? Don’t we deserve to be pampered?

It looks as though it’s a difficult concept.

I still can’t think of anything.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 02-Nov-23 08:57:25

I don’t like pampering!

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 02-Nov-23 09:27:59

GSM neither do I , but maybe I’ve been conditioned to think I don’t like it? (Although I really really don’t.)

A Moda Jelly Roll(pre-cut strips of 42 different cottons) to make a fab Christmas quilt, a lovely embroidered velvet cushion , for cosy autumn vibes a new book - Cider Mill Coven and I'd spend any/all change on Lindt Reindeer. I'd love every minute of shopping for that lot too so include a visit to good coffee shop!

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 02-Nov-23 09:42:14

I really really don’t either. The idea of a spa day would see me running for the hills! I hate being fussed over!

Mollygo Thu 02-Nov-23 09:45:57

If I could share it with DH, it would be a visit to Harry Potter world. If it’s just for me,
a bottle of Paco Rabanne Fame. My current one is nearly empty. Any left over, on a new lipstick.

Lyndylou Thu 02-Nov-23 10:47:32

I hate to be fussed over too. A spa day is my idea of hell.

I think I would opt for a pair of Rolling Stones Sketchers with the tongue logo on. They would look good for walking the dog.

The botany book that I've wanted for ages costs £66 99 in paperback form .
In hardback it's over £150 .

Big pots for the little patio in front of my flat. Then a bag of compost and plants for a good display throughout the year. That should take care of £100 - or more.

When I win the lottery this weekend I will enjoy treating everyone of us, so if you haven't thought of anything yet hurry up!

M0nica Thu 02-Nov-23 12:54:40

Lyndylou No one fusses over you on a spa day.

Go to a good spa and it is all about swimming pools, jaccuzzis. steam rooms, saunas and a whole plethora of other water experiences, which you wander around and use, as you wish, plus, of course a nice lunch and other refreshments.

If you want 'fussing', and I hate fussing, you would need to book beauty treatments, which we never do.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 02-Nov-23 13:01:02

That still sounds like my idea of hell MOnica. Not for me.

Norah Thu 02-Nov-23 13:03:06

Bright smiling yellow pansies for the winter plantings.

SachaMac Thu 02-Nov-23 13:08:34

Liking the sound of a whole house clean Hetty58 Ive lost my mojo with housework smile

M0nica Thu 02-Nov-23 14:54:12

GSM We have always been a water orientated family, sailing, boating, swimming, sub-acqua and, currently, one member is what is described as a 'wild swimmer', which seems to mean swimming in very cold water in winter. Not for me, I will stick to the warm water in a spa.

Lyndylou Thu 02-Nov-23 16:28:51

Sorry M0nica still not sold it to me. I just wouldn't find it relaxing.

Far rather go to a gig, but 100 will not cover the cost of a ticket for Springsteen that go on sale tomorrow!

Christmas time is the best time. There aren’t enough words to describe how fascinating/ beautiful it is.

I would buy a pair of exquisite earrings. Or a cashmere sweater.

twiglet77 Thu 02-Nov-23 17:57:09

New Ugg slippers

I would put it towards this bag.

MrsKen33 Thu 02-Nov-23 18:38:52

I’m with Lyndylou .I have only been once to a spa day. Absolutely hated it. I went in at the beginning but it wasn’t me who came out at the end. My face was unrecognisable. A very well known spa also.

JaneJudge Thu 02-Nov-23 18:44:43

I bought myself a white stuff necklace today from tkmaxx reduced to £1.10 smile

I'm still not sure about the dressing table offer and I've not ran it passed my husband....and he seems quite anti dressing table but all my make up and toiletries are cluttering up the chest of drawers the tv is on, not that we ever watch it but we do when all the kids/their partners/relatives are home and we need to hide!

M0nica Thu 02-Nov-23 19:31:27

MrsKen33 As I repied to LyndyLou. Proper spas are more about a day playing in water experiences of all kinds than treatments.

We go to a spa several times a year, enjoy all the water recreation and come out at the end of the day, with our faces looking just as they did when we went in because we do not have any beauty treatments.

Clealry you and Lindylou went to the wrong kind of spas.

I’d treat myself to a diptyque candle . My favourite is Ambre. It’s expensive but lasts for ages and has a gorgeous warm smell but not overpowering.
Where I live spas and pampering days are a lot more than £100 .
And as for photo sessions , I prefer a natural photo taken on smart phones . The cameras on the latest edition phones are incredible.
