Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark with some wind but its not raining at the moment here in brackley , unsure whether the storm as past over or its on its way here.
Two options are stay in if becomes windy and wet and not risk a bus journey or see how it looks in a couple of hours .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Durham. No storm here, but it is raining - again.
After running around like a giddy kipper this week, I have nothing planned for today. I’m looking forward to just lolling around and perhaps a bit of light housework.
I’ll come back and read through the thread later, but for now, Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a damp Torbay although it’s not particularly windy. A few wild moments yesterday evening gave way to a peaceful night. Ciarán must have been further North unless we've not seen the last of it.

Following the Hallowe'en egg on window mess, DH created an even bigger mess in the kitchen yesterday! I had prepared the ingredients for a turkey Tika Masala but needed help to open the jar of sauce. DH obliged then left the jar on the worktop while we ate fresh Cornish pasties for lunch. (He loves the availability of takeaways nearby, in contrast to France!)

After lunch he picked up the jar and shook it without holding the lid! The mess was everywhere - on the hob, cupboard fronts, floor, all his clothes, even his socks! We just laughed! Amazingly, there was still plenty left to add to the casserole! He is rather accident prone so it’s a good thing I love him.

Thinking of those suffering the worst of the storm and hoping everyone is safe. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from a wet Bristol. I haven’t heard the wind yet; it’s forecast for mid morning to early afternoon.
I’m due to go to DD’s for dinner, but have been worried about getting there by bus, don’t want to be soaked. During the night, it suddenly occurred to me that I could take a taxi! Duh!
I really want to go as it’s a week since I had a shower, and hair washing is so much easier than over the sink.
I finished #2 quilt yesterday morning and started the third and last one. The little girl is mad about ginger cats, so I’m trying to make her quilt with those as main characters rather than the usual stars.
Have a safe day, don’t be foolhardy in this stormy weather. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Oh, Ash, what a mess…. I hope nothing is too stained. 🤞

Oh, Ash, what a mess…. I hope nothing is too stained. 🤞

It was, grandMattie but no lasting damage, thanks for asking!

Ashcombe Thu 02-Nov-23 05:57:45

What an original quilt - absolutely gorgeous, grandMattie!

Good morning from s somerset, sitting tight here, watching and waiting

I will be staying in today, having once almost been blown over during strong winds in Cardiff. Plenty of pottering to do and knitting, such a nice task using characterful wool and a very easy jumper pattern, no need for a fancy design when the wool does the talking

Have a safe day

Nannagarra Thu 02-Nov-23 06:13:43

Good morning from the north west. No comment about the weather as I expect some grans have had a very disturbed night.
A day of returning items to shops which have such an extensive stock it’s impossible to view it all in store - long gone are those days.
Stay safe everyone.

RosiesMaw Thu 02-Nov-23 06:23:45

Good morning all - also from S Somerset - I wonder if I am anywhere near you Karma ? A very wild evening but it calmed down around 1 am. Today is still quiet although I think raining. SIL has to be back in London so is driving to Andover to get a train - if any are running! I hope he can benefit from this "window" before it all kicks off again.
Trying not to worry - failing.
Keep safe everybody!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 02-Nov-23 06:35:03

Morning all.

The rain and wind woke me up at 4.30am (S E Essex) haven’t been able to get back to sleep 💤 all calm at the moment.

Had a lovely lunch with Sar53 and Gingster yesterday, lots of chatting and laughing, looking forward to the next one x

Manicure first thing, then some internet shopping this afternoon before picking up the 8yr old after football practice for a sleepover.

Lovely quilt grandMattie , Oh dear Ashcombe what a palaver 😱

Hoping you all stay dry and safe 🙋‍♀️🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 02-Nov-23 06:43:29

Morning all from a dark and gloomy West Oxfordshire.
Another beautiful quilt GM! An old friend of mine used to make quilts and always embroidered the name of the recipient and the date in the corner.
I drove OH to a hospital appointment yesterday - not in Oxford - and it took less than half an hour and there was no trouble parking! We were home in time for my WI committee meeting. I will type up the notes this morning. Hair appointment this afternoon. My fringe is desperately in need of a trim as I had to cancel last week. This evening I will be popping round to a friend’s place.

Ash - I once turned the blender on without fixing the lid properly. My kitchen was pretty well spattered!

Have a good day.

monk08 Thu 02-Nov-23 06:56:55

Good morning all from the Black country dark but dry at the moment.
I have an early appointment with the hygienist this morning, then we have our covid jabs booked lunchtime.
Ash hope no permanent staining anywhere.
Lovely quilt grandMattie
Will get myself some breakfast and come back later to read everyone's happenings.
Keep safe out there and enjoy your Thursday may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning from a damp Colchester. No sign of the storm here yet.
The military are selling poppies in London today and DS is amongst them. We are hoping to pop up and support him if the weather stays as it is. There is no travel disruption yet....touch wood.
Hope everyone stays dry and safe.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire. The overnight rain has stopped and fortunately we have no wind.

Yesterday was quite productive, I attended my first yoga for old biddies class and was pleased to find that I’m still reasonably fit. Afterwards I actually got to the bottom of my ironing pile before a very wet dog walk. Yarn group last night where a few of us had good news to share.

Today daft dog is going to DD’s, her nose may be slightly out of joint though when she meets their new puppy.

This evening our yarn group will decorate the town with poppies with the help of the young folk from the army cadet unit. Fingers crossed for dry weather.

I just caught up with yesterday’s thread, sending my best wishes to Dusty and blossoming.

Have the best day possible everyone.

brook2704 Thu 02-Nov-23 07:17:18

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it looks clear, dry and calm for now.
Oh Ash good job you can laugh about it!
Gorgeous quilt gMattie how lovely with the ginger cats
DGD stayed over last night so we’ve got the school run this morning but nothing else planned. I’d like to get out into the garden but I think we’ve rain forecast for later. Our garden backs onto woodland so there’s always lots of leaves to tidy up at this time of year, not my favourite job in the wet
Enjoy your time with the DGC Susan - have fun!
Take care all in the storm if out and about
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Sar53 Thu 02-Nov-23 07:18:48

Good morning from a wet and breezy Essex coast. I think the weather is set to deteriorate later.
DH is going to check that his beloved boat is safely secured then we need to do some food shopping.
Later this afternoon I am having my hair cut.
A lovely lunch with GG13 and Gingster yesterday, thank you ladies xx
Have a pleasant day everyone and stay safe xx

GrannySomerset Thu 02-Nov-23 07:21:13

All calm here and not much rain either so we will see what the day brings. Covid jab at 8.30 and then stuck in for the rest of the day waiting for the engineer with the part for the malfunctioning boiler which hasn’t come on this morning. Hope the promised storm is not as bad as feared and that we all have a safe day.

Jaxjacky Thu 02-Nov-23 07:23:44

Morning from S Hants, it blew and poured overnight, quiet now, more due later.
An unexpectedly busy afternoon as my daughter had to go to the walk in centre, 111 referral, drove her plus one grandchild to hospital, picked up second one, took them both home, fed them and assuaged their worries. Daughter caught an Uber here three hours later, so I took them all home. I was in bed by 9:30.
A quieter one today I hope.
Oops Ashcombe laughter is the only option!
Stunning gMattie just stunning.

Grammaretto Thu 02-Nov-23 07:26:27

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Quiet here and mild. I hope others are not being battered today or without power
I'm going into Edinburgh to see the Grayson Perry exhibition before it finishes.
I hope my gas bottle will be delivered while I'm away. I left instructions.

So glad you can have a shower GM and that the Ash household has cleaned up!
How skilled you are at quilt making gMattie
Have a good day everyone.

RosesandLilac Thu 02-Nov-23 07:26:59

Good morning, it’s our last day on the Ceredigion coast, a very wet one is forecast. Yesterday’s seas were spectacular in the gales here, sea-foam blowing everywhere. It was quite difficult to stand up in the wind.
Today we’ll have a very wet walk but do little else outside, I can happily sit and crochet in the window overlooking the sea 😊
Home tomorrow….
🌹

luluaugust Thu 02-Nov-23 07:37:32

Good morning from a wet W Kent. Off to art group this morning and then a quick session with the physio. The best news possible in the circumstances for DDIL as she will not need chemo and will go down the expected care route. She will now be able to go to her mum for Christmas.
Lovely quilt gM.
All the best

NannyJan53 Thu 02-Nov-23 07:40:56

Good morning from a dull but wet Black Country. It is not windy at the moment and not raining for now, but it is forecast.

Need to decide whether to go on my health walk this morning, it is in a country park, so will be quite muddy anyway, without any extra rain today may bring.

u3a monthly meeting this afternoon, so may go to that, as it is in town only a 15 min walk away. There is usually an interesting talk by an outside speaker.

From tomorrow morning spending 3 days at DD's to be with the two girls whilst they go away with friends to celebrate SIL's recent 50th! Harder to entertain 12 and a 15 year old, was much easier when they were younger. Have 10 pin bowling booked for one day. Will see if there is anything on at the cinema they fancy.

Blimey Ashcombe I can imagine the mess that has caused, you will probably find bits you missed in the coming days!

Wishing you all the best day possib.e

Greyduster Thu 02-Nov-23 07:40:58

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a chilly, wet South Yorkshire but the wind does not seem to be exciting the trees too much at the moment. I am going out today with DD to see a film and have lunch. Her treat. We’re going to an early showing. I’m not really as excited about it as I should be, but that’s par for the course these days. I’m very grateful to her for giving up one of her days off to do something nice for me.
Ash OD has my sympathy - I did something similar with a bottle of tomato ketchup in a seaside cafe some years ago. It looked like the St Valentine’s Day massacre!!
Have the best day you can folks!
