Good morning from a dry but chilly Torbay.

Thank you for your concern for olddudders, who has finally managed a good night's sleep, I'm pleased to say, and has been brighter since yesterday evening. We took a short walk around the perimeter of the nearby park yesterday, with him wearing a mask. Being late afternoon, we encountered nobody at close quarters.

Today we both have appointments at the optician's but I shall cancel his and check if they’re happy to see me, as I’ve just taken a test which is negative. I’ve already withdrawn from today's exercise class out of consideration for the vulnerable participants in particular.

I’m glad you’re gaining weight, Mick. Good news!

Have a good week, everyone, especially Urmstongran and DH. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning Mick, morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

Our local Facebook page was full of complaints over the last couple of days about the fireworks, the official display as well as local people having their own. I must have been very lucky over the years never to have had a dog that was bothered by them but it must be awful to try to soothe a frightened animal. Some of the bangs sounded as though they were directly outside our window.

Charity shop volunteering today, I have a couple of bags of donations to take with me.

Ash I hope your DH is feeling a little better.

Good wishes to all who are ill or coping with sadness or worries.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from Cornwall where it will be raining mostly today and very mild. So much for not going to the fireworks last night... I gave my crutches a good old talking-to and went with my youngest son and his son. There were hundreds of people there, so many families. It was really lovely.

Yesterday my other son went exploring an abandoned tin mine, pic attached. It's supposed to be closed off but someone keeps opening the entrance.

Today my friend is coming to my allotment to collect my fallen sycamore tree for his woodburner. I'll also see if anything else fell in the recent storms.

grandMattie Mon 06-Nov-23 06:14:34

Good morning from a dry Bristol. There was beating rain in the night.
Urms, ❤️I hope the journey didn’t wear Himself out too much and that you will have a happy and peaceful holiday. Maw, I’m glad you gathered some happy memories ofPaw. 🫂 Ash, praying that oldd is getting some relief from the invidious covid symptoms.🫂
D Day is upon me! The men are coming in a coupe of hours for three weeks of noise, work, improvements…. As there is nowhere to escape to, I hope their radio and banging won’t be too intrusive. The young plumber/contractor seems a very nice chap, so hope they’ll be ok.
I hope this new week is kind to you all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

grandMattie Mon 06-Nov-23 06:16:19

Ugh, minzuna, I can think of few things I’d enjoy less than going down a mine!

Grandmabatty Mon 06-Nov-23 06:17:13

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and dry. Glad to hear that you are putting weight on Mick. Good to hear that your DH is recovering too Ash.
Yesterday was quiet. I visited mum late afternoon but had to go a different route as the usual road was closed because of a bad accident. The alternative route was through Linlithgow and lots of twisty country roads. I'll not be doing that at night! Mum was fine. She was talking about going out for a Christmas meal. I just said she would have to be moving for that to happen. She has improved miraculously since a few weeks ago when it looked like she'd given up.
Today is early childcare day. I'll do the usual nursery runs and dgs2 and I will no doubt go out for a walk or two. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Mon 06-Nov-23 06:19:26

GrandMattie good luck with the bathroom renovations. Baubles I could vaguely hear fireworks. One of the few benefits of being a bit deaf!

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 06-Nov-23 06:24:18

Good morning Mick and everyone, too dark to see about the weather yet, hopefully it will be fine and dry.
2nd evening having a very scared and stressed dog, Another evening of MrOops and MissOops driving around until the worst is over, calming tablets were used but didn’t seem to help.
Let’s hope the fireworks are over, although there are so many displays cancelled due to the weather, that will be held later in the month, it could go on for some time yet.
Even the day after, she is very nervous and not her normal self, hopefully she will start to eat again soon.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 06-Nov-23 06:26:06

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I won’t be getting up for a couple of hours. I do hope the Urms are having a wonderful holiday.
Weekly shop today. I’ll pop into my hairdresser for a free emergency fringe trim. I’ve had to cancel twice because of covid and flooding. There are quite a lot of books for me to take to the Charity shops too.
My new mad rug with bright pink flamingos should be delivered this week, if not today!
Have a good day everyone, especially those of you with difficulties.

karmalady Mon 06-Nov-23 06:28:02

Good morning from s somerset, there will be sun today

I belive that my sleeping pattern has settled now, it helps that I have a varied contented day and not much tv. My complex sewing pattern is now ready to use, I have made that same coat before, really liked wearing it but losing weight was the reason for me donating it. I missed the coat and this new one will be two sizes smaller. It will be challenging to make but will stretch my mind for an hour or two on most days

Today will be pottering and a bit of knitting and a flat walk.

Have a good day

Good morning from the edge of the Cotswolds, it’s a chilly start to the week here.
Off to the dentist shortly because my crown has fallen out 😵‍💫, I suspect I also need a filling in the adjacent tooth. How I dread going to the dentist despite 6 monthly checkups rarely finding anything wrong.
Yesterday was quiet until the fireworks started, the poor dog was a quivering wreck despite trying everything possible to calm her.
I will take her for a nice long walk later, through the woods I think- the autumn colours are spectacular this year.
Take care everyone 🌹

Gingster Mon 06-Nov-23 07:02:46

Good morning all is quiet after last nights fireworks going off all around us. At about 10.30 there was a very loud one which rained over the conservatory. Must have been a close neighbour. Little pooch, who is not normally bothered, barked and ran round the house very scared. Feel sorry for the animals at this time of year..

We are taking Dd for a blood test this morning. Dh will drop us off as parking is impossible. I’ll have to get a wheelchair as she can’t walk. We’ll go to A and E after the BT and expect to be there all day AGAIN!. Goodness knows what’s wrong.

Take care

Good morning everyone from a cloudless-skied Northampton: the sun isn't quite up, but the sky is clear, and a fine day is forecast. Apparently in my home town in Wiltshire, the Northern lights were visible last night & someone posted a picture on the Facebook page.

Did very little yesterday, read the papers, and caught up with some tv programmes, and a documentary featuring my rugby team on Amazon Prime. Was good to see behind the scenes, and I was just about visible in the crowd at one of the matches!

Yoga first thing, being picked up at 9am, then home to catch up on some household jobs; will spend the afternoon reading, and perhaps a nap, as I did not have a good night. Need to book two seats at the cinema to see the film 'Napoleon'; booking opens for members today.
Don't know what to have for dinner, shall have to have a rummage in the freezer!

Have a lovely holiday *Urms and Himself*; and wishing a happy Monday to all.

cornergran Mon 06-Nov-23 07:07:43

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is dry at the moment after heavy and noisy overnight rain.

Enjoyed a muddy garden hour or so yesterday, Mr C was able to dig out some over exuberant plants and was totally delighted with his improvement fitness. A little concerned about our daughter in law who sounds to be struggling.

I’ve had little sleep again, fortunately nothing I need a brain for this morning. Think I’ll do some sorting. We’ll wander out after lunch for some air and a stretch.

We were surrounded by fireworks last night. Very noisy. I feel for those with animals to care for, strangely when we had dogs they seemed oblivious. Lucky I think.

Hope your husband continues to improve ash and you stay well. Good luck with it all grandmattie. Exciting times.

Have the best day you can everyone.

cornergran Mon 06-Nov-23 07:10:14

So sorry to hear that about your daughter, gingster, hope there is some help today.

Alygran Mon 06-Nov-23 07:16:17

Good morning from the high peak. Damp and grey here.
It’s been a lovely weekend. Chatsworth was beautiful, decked out with an advent theme. 24 spaces beautifully decorated. The market has lots of small businesses in contrast to many of the city ones that are all about food and wine. I started my C*** shopping. Parking was really well organised.
Yesterday I went to watch DGS play football. Unfortunately his team lost and he had a nasty fall, banging his head in the astroturf. He’s ok thank goodness.
Heading home today. DD2 has already left for work but I’ll let the traffic settle a bit before I go.
I hope the Urms arrived safely. Enjoy your holiday.
Have a good day everyone.

Greyduster Mon 06-Nov-23 07:32:38

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dry but cold South Yorkshire. Going to be a brightish day. DS stayed until early afternoon yesterday and then drove home - leaving his house keys in my kitchen. Too far for him to drive back and he won’t be down for another couple of weeks. Hope someone has a spare! Nothing much on my agenda today except some housework and a long walk round the country park if the sun stays out.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Marydoll Mon 06-Nov-23 07:35:37

Good morning all, from a showery Glasgow, where it is only 3°C.

Glad to hear you are improving Mick and OldD is feeling a bit better.
I would love the tin min exploration. I have been in all the known catacombs in Rome. I am terrified of heights, but love being underground.
I once got a permit to visit the Scavi in the Vatican, the very foundations of the building. The floors were basically soil.

I woke at 5am feeling really nauseous, so doped myself up and looked out my Florence Nightingale hat, because Dollie is really poorly and mum is working today.
DH is golfing and is mad 💚 I have Dollie all to myself. 😍 Scotch pancakes have been requested, because she thinks she might just manage a little one. 😉

Despite the warnings, I overdid it yesterday. My best laid plans went awry! I was in the church for 10am Mass, but never attended, I got caught up in a problem. Neither did I make 11.30am! Instead of attending Mass, I was deflecting the flak from the PP and soothing the ruffled feathers of some irate parents at the Catechism class. The PP was horrified I wasn't at Mass! I am going to hell! 😈

I only went over to hand over paperwork and see if the catechists were following safeguarding guidelines, normally I wouldn't interfere, but I spotted some issues and spoke to the young catechists who think they know it all! 😉.
I couldn't believe the number of people who approached me with various concerns, saying they were so glad I was back on the scene. As usual, I defaulted to teacher mode, with a fixed smile on my face, trying to let it wash over me. 🤣
Of course I came home and promptly fell asleep,
Much to my delight, I encountered two former pupils, who greeted me with a hug. One informed me that she had studied French at university and had started a post grad teaching post. She said I had inspired her. 😭

I intend to do very little today, apart for look for the dress I bought for Babydoll's Christening this Sunday coming. I bought it ages ago and can't remember where I put it. I don't understand, for I have so few clothes. 🤣

Good luck with the builders GM. Could you not visit your neighbour for a coffee and chat, for some respite? I used to get out of our builder's way, I think they felt I was supervising them.
Hoping Urms has arrived safely.

Have a good day folks and best wishes for all the poorlies.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve clear sky and it’s cold
Gingster sending ❤️
Chatsworth sounds really lovely Alygran, I’ve been a few times in the past but not at Christmas but I’d love to visit again one day.
Looking forward to going to the gym this morning and then a bit of shopping. If it’s still dry this afternoon I’ll be back out tidying up in the garden
Hope the dentist is ok Roses you’ll feel much better when it’s over!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from sunny Colchester. The wind seems to have dropped too.
I'll need to sweep the ash from last night's local fireworks from the patio. It's a half hour display that shakes the house.
Shopping and laundry today.
Love to all 🦩 x

Marydoll Mon 06-Nov-23 07:40:44

Gingster, your poor DD. 💐

Gala Mon 06-Nov-23 07:53:16

Good morning from Sefton. 🎼Down came the rain in torrents. Splish Splash 🎼 All night & still continues.☔️
The purchase yesterday of (working) headphones for OH necessitated at least 4 visits to the retail park before he eventually decided to return the 3rd pair of complicated, non functioning & expensive headphones & settle for another brand. Simpler & cheaper - they worked. Happy OH. Phew! What an afternoon. The air was quite blue at times.
We had some very loud whiz bangs last night - I had hoped the rain might deter people - our very chilled greyhound did raise his head at one point, looked around, saw nothing amiss & promptly went back to sleep. He has got relaxing well & truly sussed.
Singing this morning. Plans for this afternoon are weather dependant. At the moment it is still persisting down.
Hope the Urms are having a wonderfully relaxing & warm break.
🤞 your bathroom renovations go smoothly gMattie after all you've been put through.
Have a good week all.

Jaxjacky Mon 06-Nov-23 07:53:30

Morning from chilly, clear S Hampshire, lots of fireworks last night, it was perfect weather for them.
Better news for Mick oldudders and Mrcorner. Not so for your daughter Gingster, I hope today is not too tortuous.
A lovely walk yesterday, scuffing through the leaves and no rain.
Today is voluntary phone day, I have a friend calling for lunch, then quiz tonight.
Best of luck gMattie a means to an end.
Urms ☀️☀️

Good morning from another sunny start to the day in Suffolk.

I’m going out for lunch with 3 friends later postponed from last Thursday when we had to cancel because of the storm. One has just returned from a holiday in Vietnam so I’m looking forward to hearing all about it and reliving memories of a wonderful holiday DH and I had there and Cambodia about 13 years ago.

Your poor daughter,*Gingster*……I do hope that you get some answers about her present symptoms and then a helpful plan of treatment.
