Morning Mick, dark and dry, 6d in S Hampshire.
A busy day on the voluntary phones yesterday, quiz last night was fun and we came second, it was chilly when we got home.
Today a friend is calling in for lunch, I must go to M&S to collect shopping and the farm shop for veg.
I hope gMattie is poised for works to commence, it’ll be worth it when finished.
This week we’re taxi for granddaughter, she has exams, so needs picking up from school and taking home as they complete.
Fingers crossed Gingster has positive news.

Good morning Mick, damp and chilly here on the edge of the Cotswolds.
I’m tackling the utility room today, it’s so untidy and cluttered I can’t put it off any longer 😵‍💫
DH uses it as a dumping ground, so he’s going to be roped in to remove all his stuff, he won’t be happy 🤷🏼‍♀️
Dog has dog walker, I will take her out later.
Hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Good morning from Bristol. Just woken up after a fractured night.
The photo shows the appalling condition of the floor under the Lino. The previous work done was disgracefully bad, shoddy, cutting corners, using the cheapest and worst materials. At least, my lovely young plumber is going to remedy all that, but a lot of work is required.
I had a marvellous shower at my upstairs neighbour, washed my hair… I was lent her keys and those of another kind lady opposite too. People are being very kind to me.
What a wonder surprise and how kind of your gardener, taichi.
I’ve got to get some backing fabric for my ginger cat quilt in town this morning, the an empty. I hope the plumber doesn’t think I’m supervising/spying when I’m at home, but I’m very curious about what/how he’s doing…
Feeling happy for Urms and DH in Malaga. Hope everyone has a good day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset. A very clear beautiful dark sky earlier with sparkling moon and stars. Sun and showers later

Lots of washing was done yesterday but nothing got more than partly dried outside, so a lot of tumbler drier usage. At least it is all done, I did the bed change followed by bedroom bottoming. Craft group was lovely, so chatty, not much done but really we go for the chat

Nothing exciting today but I like days with no appointments.

Yesterday I received a kit in the post, to make a jacket, all the bits together in the box. It actually works out a bit cheaper. It is a French based pattern and unusual to read so I am going to have to double -check fitting and measurements and I will do that this morning as well as cut out

Have a good day

Good morning from a chilly Torbay with sunshine promised later.

What a relief to be having your bathroom done at last, grandMattie! A concern for other residents, one would imagine, as to what they might be living with!

olddudders is much better and even resumed some domestic duties yesterday! I was pleased to see the improvement, especially as he cooked lunch and dealt with the dishwasher!

My appointment at the optician took a long time as a lamp had broken on one of the machines but then it was found to have faulty wiring. All was fixed eventually but the outcome is I will be referred to the eye clinic at the hospital for a check up as glaucoma is possible. ☹️

Today I have an appointment with the dental hygienist. She hasn’t seen me for a year as their code of practice advises against treating patients who've had open heart surgery until a year afterwards. My cardiologist disagrees, saying there’s no more risk than if I use an electric toothbrush, which I do! Sigh!

Enjoy your day, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Grandmabatty Tue 07-Nov-23 06:34:16

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry. Still dark. GrandMattie we are so reliant on tradesmen doing a good job. I hope it doesn't take too long. Ash fingers crossed that you don't have glaucoma.
Yesterday was a lovely day with dgs2. He was being his sunniest best.
Today I hope for more of the same!
Have a good day all

Marydoll Tue 07-Nov-23 06:35:19

Good morning all from Glasgow, it's 8 degrees.
I have had a dreadful night, so here I am waiting for Tesco to open their Christmas delivery slots. I have been on since before 6am and I am in a queue of an hour. which is actually getting longer. How do people get in the queue, when the slots aren't yet open?

Yesterday was not without drama. Whilst looking after Dollie and DH of course was nowhere to be seen (on the golf course), I had a gas emergency.
The door bell rang and it was Dollie's other gran, who happens to live next door.
^Have you come to see Dollie?
"No, why is she here? You have to come now, there is an awful noise coming from your gas meter (which was in a box outside), it is making the most awful noise."

I rushed out and sure enough the noise was horrendous, so I rushed back inside to get the key. It was not in the drawer (you know that drawer ). DH had obviously "hidden" it. 🤬
Dollie's other granny ran to get hers. On opening the box, I noticed the pipes and meter were vibrating. 😱

The first thing I did was shut off the gas, then followed in by granny, phoned the emergency gas line.
It went from bad to worse after that. I asked granny to keep an eye on Dollie, while I tried to get assistance, but she had to ^go to the Guild! .
The gentleman on the emergency line declined to help, saying I must phone my provider. 🤬
After a 9 minute wait I got through to Scottish Gas' emergency line, to be given the number I had phoned previously. This is when I lost the plot!
This time the agent agreed I needed assistance.

Within an hour ( with Dollie and I freezing to death with windows and doors open, as instructed) the faulty meter, which had been installed a few months ago to replace the faulty smart meter, was replaced with a spanking new smart meter. The engineer told me not to build up my hopes. Scottish Gas (a naughty word in our house) prefer to use their own reconditioned one and they may come and replace it again. This one was to ensure I still had access to gas.
We are still in dispute with Scottish gas and they continue to deduct exhorbitant amounts from our bank account, despite, a formal complaint having being made, the Ombusman contacted and being continually fobbed off.
Guess when DH arrived back from the golf! When it was all over , of course!!!

Dollie's mum and dad have heating problems , DH will need to take Dollie to school, to allow mum will to wait in for the engineer. If he hasn't arrived by 12 noon, I will have to go and let DIL out for an appointment. A busy day ahead and I am sleeping on my feet, with a blinding headache, a gowping leg and nausea. Vae mihi! (woe is me).
Why is life so blooming difficult????

Tonight I have to go and open up our parish hall for a Diocesan Safeguarding event. The Diocesan Offices contacted me yesterday, rather than the PP. I wonder why? I was going to bake for it, but Sainsbury's own will suffice.

I apologise for my tale of woe. I am actually quite calm, I no longer know what normal is, nor expect life to be so. 😁

Gingster's daughter has been in my thoughts, I hope she was able to get help yesterday.
GM, I hope the building work hasn't been too stressful. At least it's only a few days. I dread having workman in the house. Our extension took eight weeks and I became very proficient in blocking it all out!
Grammaretto, I hope you are recovering from your eye procedure.
I will be back later to check the posts. Have a good day folks.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 07-Nov-23 06:41:15

Morning all, no idea what the weather is like as I am still snuggling in bed.

Good luck with your bathroom grandMattie

Pleased OD is on the mend Ashcombe

Ironing for me today, and I need to start making C lists 🎄

Thinking of Gingster’s DD

Hope you are having a wonderful time in Malaga dear Urmstongran and himself

Have a great day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

hollysteers Tue 07-Nov-23 06:48:42

Good morning from sunny Bahrain. Lovely flight in business class with DD, timing three hours ahead so a bitty night’s sleep. Off to breakfast now, smart hotel, not sure what our plans are, but poolside beckons.
Hope you have a good day.

luluaugust Tue 07-Nov-23 07:07:04

Good morning it looks like another bright day at present. U3A Local History group met at a garden centre yesterday. I don’t think the leader had expected so many of us and it was noisy in the cafe anyway but interesting books and maps to look at.
Hairdresser later I certainly need sorting out.
Hope all goes well gM
Marydoll surely you are due a more peaceful day, I hope so
Ash glad Oldduders is returning to normal.
Have a good day

Susan56 Tue 07-Nov-23 07:19:12

Good morning from Shropshire.Another dry day forecast.

Yesterday was a good day with my mum although when we got there her house was freezing. On checking the thermostat it was set at 10 degrees🥶my brother and her neighbour had been in the day before but no idea why nobody thought to check the thermostat🤷‍♀️

Today will hopefully be a quiet morning before Welsh class this afternoon.

Mary what a nightmare of a day😭Thank goodness all was sorted. As for other granny, no words🤬

I too have been thinking of Gingsters daughter and hope the wait in A and E wasn’t too long and that they got some answers.

Glad olddudders is on the mend.

Hopefully another good day with the boys Grandmabatty.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Mizuna Tue 07-Nov-23 07:20:14

Good morning from Cornwall where it will be raining and very mild again today. The onset of awful toothache yesterday resulted in my having a broken wisdom tooth removed. I have a lovely NHS dentist, with a very tender touch; nevertheless it felt like she was digging for treasure as the tooth didn't want to come out quietly. My jaw is somewhat sore so a quiet day at home is planned.

Well Marydoll, so you like being underground! I've got a feeling you would really enjoy chatting to my son about his quirky subterranean explorations!

What a photo gM! So glad you've got kind neighbours! Looking forward to seeing the finished room.

Marydoll Tue 07-Nov-23 07:30:07

My world is back in equilibrium. I have my Tesco slot, so one worry out of the way.

Now I am worrying about driving in the dark tonight!!! 🤣

Alygran Tue 07-Nov-23 07:35:31

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Clear skies and a pretty sunrise here.
I drove home yesterday, the colours in the trees across the Woodhead Pass are amazing.
Food shopping, laundry and gardening today before a late afternoon trip to take my friend for her radiotherapy.
marydoll what a day yesterday. Pleased you have your slot!
ash good news about od. Hope the dentist visit is ok.
gm good luck with the bathroom.
Have a good day everyone..

ginny Tue 07-Nov-23 07:35:48

Good morning everyone.
An at home day for us, apart from a walk.
Washing to put in, and will bake a couple of dozen mince pies.
I’m annoyed with myself as I misscut. some ribbon for a craft project and now can’t finish until some more arrives. Still, I have plenty of other things to get on with.
Hugs and kind thoughts for all who need them and a good day wished for all.

brook2704 Tue 07-Nov-23 07:38:46

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and we’ve had rain overnight
Goodness me marydoll what a day! Pleased you’ve got your Tesco slot now sorted now and today goes much better for you
Hope your mums and her house is much warmer now Susan thank goodness you checked in on her
I’m off to the gym first thing and then home to do some housework and general sorting out. DD2 has given me a big box of toys and games etc that the DGC have grown out off to see what might sell on eBay and what’s going to the charity shop. That should keep me busy for a while
Thinking of Gingster and her DD
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Feelingmyage55 Tue 07-Nov-23 07:40:18

Good morning from a dry north of Scotland.
I set the alarm for 5.30 to queue for a Tesco delivery slot. Waiting time was already an hour, dropped to half an hour went up to an hour and suddenly dropped to twenty minutes🤔. Up down, then at 6.40 offered the timetable. NO slots on 24 Dec and almost none on 23 Dec. Sigh. I have thrown milk in the basket and will set reminders on my phone to go back and sort things out.
GM I am sorry you have such a mess to repair. The silver lining is the kindness of your fellow inmates and you will have a shiny new bathroom soon(ish).
Best wishes to all.

Feelingmyage55 Tue 07-Nov-23 07:43:32

I shouldn’t have said it is dry. The rain is now hammering down but like Marydoll I have my Tesco slot so I feel as if I have done today’s big chore.

Grammaretto Tue 07-Nov-23 07:43:56

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Dry so far
Yesterday's eye procedure went smoothly and quickly though the surgeon asked me if I had enjoyed it shock No I did not!. I am relieved it's over and will be obedient with the many rules during the healing process. No magic improvement in my sight and a headache this morning. I shall have a quiet day at home.

Poor Marydoll ! What a nightmare. When I called their emergency number on smelling gas someone came within the hour. TBH he just turned the gas off which I'd already done and disabled the connection. I had to find an engineer to find the actual leak and so ensued all the works fun and games a new boiler, new cooker, new radiators and eventually a much more efficient system.

gMattie I hope your plumber makes a good job of the bathroom.
I'm glad you are able to take up your neighbours offers. What goes around, comes around and you have been such a rock to your friends in need.
I'll come back to read later all the news I've missed.
Hoping everyone has a good day.

Jaxjacky Tue 07-Nov-23 07:47:33

I too was up and logged in at 5:40 for my Tesco slot, by 6:15 I’d booked the 23rd as hoped, feel like going back to bed!

BlueSapphire Tue 07-Nov-23 07:48:57

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, 4° outside; a dry day ahead so will get the towels I washed last night out on the line.

A morning of pottering, then out after lunch on my health walk. Be nice to have company. Then some reading when I get home.

Hope you have a less fraught day Marydoll, and hoping all goes well with your bathroom grandMattie . Keep calm and carry on!

monk08 Tue 07-Nov-23 07:49:02

Good morning all from another dry and sunny start to the day after overnight rain.
grandMattie what lovely kind neighbours you appear to have.
Ash good to hear Olddudders is on the mend.
Marydoll what a day you had cannot believe the other granny, hope you have a quieter day today.
Urms I believe its LWW today enjoy catching up with friends 🥂.
As the sun is shining DH will want to go out so I think a trip to the deli at the garden centre is in order.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

harrigran Tue 07-Nov-23 07:49:08

Good morning from a dry but dull NE.
Yesterday did very little, just cleaned the hob extractor, an easier job now I have a battery operated brush, cuts through the grease in no time.
Hairdresser is coming this morning then I should do some washing.
Your bathroom has to be an improvement on that grandMattie , hope it is all up and working very soon.
Thinking of Urmston and her DH.

Marydoll Tue 07-Nov-23 07:49:30

Feelingmyage, I wanted Saturday 23rd and got the slot I wanted. I found it less stressful than previous years. I booked it because I know that our local Tesco, which is huge will be too crowded for me and if I send DH, he will come back with nothing I asked for and a whole lote of rubbish!. 🤣

Good to see you posting Grammaretto.
