Good morning all from Glasgow, it's 8 degrees.
I have had a dreadful night, so here I am waiting for Tesco to open their Christmas delivery slots. I have been on since before 6am and I am in a queue of an hour. which is actually getting longer. How do people get in the queue, when the slots aren't yet open?
Yesterday was not without drama. Whilst looking after Dollie and DH of course was nowhere to be seen (on the golf course), I had a gas emergency.
The door bell rang and it was Dollie's other gran, who happens to live next door.
^Have you come to see Dollie?
"No, why is she here? You have to come now, there is an awful noise coming from your gas meter (which was in a box outside), it is making the most awful noise."
I rushed out and sure enough the noise was horrendous, so I rushed back inside to get the key. It was not in the drawer (you know that drawer ). DH had obviously "hidden" it. 🤬
Dollie's other granny ran to get hers. On opening the box, I noticed the pipes and meter were vibrating. 😱
The first thing I did was shut off the gas, then followed in by granny, phoned the emergency gas line.
It went from bad to worse after that. I asked granny to keep an eye on Dollie, while I tried to get assistance, but she had to ^go to the Guild! .
The gentleman on the emergency line declined to help, saying I must phone my provider. 🤬
After a 9 minute wait I got through to Scottish Gas' emergency line, to be given the number I had phoned previously. This is when I lost the plot!
This time the agent agreed I needed assistance.
Within an hour ( with Dollie and I freezing to death with windows and doors open, as instructed) the faulty meter, which had been installed a few months ago to replace the faulty smart meter, was replaced with a spanking new smart meter. The engineer told me not to build up my hopes. Scottish Gas (a naughty word in our house) prefer to use their own reconditioned one and they may come and replace it again. This one was to ensure I still had access to gas.
We are still in dispute with Scottish gas and they continue to deduct exhorbitant amounts from our bank account, despite, a formal complaint having being made, the Ombusman contacted and being continually fobbed off.
Guess when DH arrived back from the golf! When it was all over , of course!!!
Dollie's mum and dad have heating problems , DH will need to take Dollie to school, to allow mum will to wait in for the engineer. If he hasn't arrived by 12 noon, I will have to go and let DIL out for an appointment. A busy day ahead and I am sleeping on my feet, with a blinding headache, a gowping leg and nausea. Vae mihi! (woe is me).
Why is life so blooming difficult????
Tonight I have to go and open up our parish hall for a Diocesan Safeguarding event. The Diocesan Offices contacted me yesterday, rather than the PP. I wonder why? I was going to bake for it, but Sainsbury's own will suffice.
I apologise for my tale of woe. I am actually quite calm, I no longer know what normal is, nor expect life to be so. 😁
Gingster's daughter has been in my thoughts, I hope she was able to get help yesterday.
GM, I hope the building work hasn't been too stressful. At least it's only a few days. I dread having workman in the house. Our extension took eight weeks and I became very proficient in blocking it all out!
Grammaretto, I hope you are recovering from your eye procedure.
I will be back later to check the posts. Have a good day folks.
