Always divides opinion.

Love it?
Like it?
Loath it?

I love it!

Billions? I don’t think so. JL’s ad is estimated to have cost £7m.

RosiesMaw Sat 11-Nov-23 20:36:05

Blushing in my ignorance, what is the significance of Festa please?

Kathmaggie Sat 11-Nov-23 20:22:28

Just read that Iceland are not doing a Christmas ad - they’re saving billions and keeping their prices down instead!

Mojack26 Sat 11-Nov-23 17:44:33

Agreed 🤣

I don't care for Christmas adverts that always have a 'message' and don't really show you what they are selling! I like the ones that promote Christmas and leave you with a warm feeling. If you like Michael Buble, you will like the Asda one this year.

Whether you like it or loathe it, the JL advertisement has certainly got us all talking. Time will tell if they have achieved their aim of increasing the Christmas footfall in the stores and boosted on-line orders.

This is the McDonalds Christmas advert and although I'm not a fan of fast food, I like this advert the best.

Loathe it ….Amazon win hands down

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 11-Nov-23 15:51:55

‘Hate’ is rather a strong word.

songstress60 Sat 11-Nov-23 15:48:10

Hate all the Christmas adverts from supermarkets, and the kids are so annoying. They do not come from stage school where they are actually taught to act but are cast from open auditions. Hate the particular advert more than the others

Has anyone seen the Barbour one? That’ll make you smile!

Diplomat Sat 11-Nov-23 14:30:35

Why not a CHRISTMAS ad that is focused on CHRISTMAS and the spirit/meaning of CHRISTMAS ?

Nannan2 Sat 11-Nov-23 14:23:40

Dempie55- i think it was just too big by then, and the very small dog almost kept getting eaten too of course🤔

Nannan2 Sat 11-Nov-23 14:21:02

I always like aldi's christmas ad.

Nannan2 Sat 11-Nov-23 14:20:04

I too felt sad for the fly trap plant 🥹

Minerva Sat 11-Nov-23 14:16:04

I don’t like the M&S ad or the John Lewis one. I just couldn’t think who they would appeal to and thought them both weird. I like Aldi’s and Asda’s and also Sainsbury’s no nonsense approach. My favourites are Morrison’s and Lidl’s.

Summysoom Sat 11-Nov-23 13:51:16

I really liked it!

vickya Sat 11-Nov-23 13:32:31

I liked the John Lewis ad.Not seen the rest yet. I felt sorry for the plant too. We had a little one for ages but it died in the end.

Dempie55 Sat 11-Nov-23 13:05:22

I quite liked it. Brave to show an all white family, even though they don’t seem to have a dad. I couldn’t see what the plant did wrong to make them drag it outside, though?

bobbydog24 Sat 11-Nov-23 13:02:02

Love it. Andrea Boccelli. Marvellous.

Nannapat1 Sat 11-Nov-23 12:47:13

I liked the JL advert, not sure I'd go as far as loving it. I do love the Amazon ad and confess to feeling moved when the 3 ladies become their young selves. I've seen plenty of snow over the years btw, including in Greater London!
Re the M&S advert, I've only seen snippets (including the supposedly offensive party hats!) and while I think that the underlying message is OK, I didn't really like the ad.

razzmatazz Sat 11-Nov-23 12:43:02

Horrible. Very weird.

Catlover123 Sat 11-Nov-23 12:41:43

eurggh horrible!

Kathmaggie Sat 11-Nov-23 12:28:17

Don’t care much for JL ad. Much prefer the Amazon ladies! The message as I understand it is about bringing joy and evoking memories.

Greyduster Sat 11-Nov-23 11:59:57

I just watched the the 1995 Coca Cola advert that Ixion posted. It brought a huge smile to my face and made me tingle all over. A long time since any Christmas ad did that!
