Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in brackley this morning.
Today I will go to Bicester on the bus and also observe the 2 minutes silence at 1100 today ,ether I am outside or inside at the time.
I want to try a new bar in brackley at lunch today.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Bristol.
My bathroom was very skilfully plastered in a morning yesterday, and the mountain of rubbish piled outside, taken away in the afternoon. The plasterer was a very interesting young man. He’s doing an OU degree in philosophy and ? (a PPE?). We had a nice chat.
The afternoon was spent helping my neighbour opposite learn the skills of teabag folding. She was thrilled with the result (it leaves me cold).
I made dinner, a chicken tagine and couscous, took it upstairs together with my overnight stuff and we settled to a very pleasant evening, me getting on really well with what feels like a mile long scarf for DD1. I found out that I hade knitted nearly 500m of wool!
There will be a craft sale during the coffee and chat in church this morning. I assume 2 minutes silence will be observed during that.
kalu, what great news, I’m so happy for you both; Marydoll, glad that things are “less worse” as a friend used to put it. Enjoy the little girls.
May the weekend be kind to you all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning, a lovely sunny day today in s somerset

The fields on my way to Wells yesterday were like large lakes, the roads were running with water and the shop was quiet. I restrained myself from buying too much but I did get a few treats for christmas. The small trolley was half full and I nearly fainted at the cost, £93.

I made my cosy fleece-backed dress/tunic yesterday, turned out wonderful and fits me. This weight loss is making a difference. I am off out again today as I want to get a few more things, another 30 mile round trip but really that will be it for this winter. I don`t want to be shopping when it is heaving there

Have a good day

Good morning all from early Harrogate! Good to hear you sounding more like yourself Marydoll I’m awake early pending today’s trip to Scarborough for DSis IL’s 80 th birthday. We. Are staying with her for 2 nights. Taking her for afternoon tea this afternoon, then joining the family for a meal tomorrow, then home on Monday. I might not get the chance to post for a few days.
Have the best day possible folks

Good morning from a chilly but dry Torbay.

Yesterday, we had a successful trip into town where we dropped off empty foil tablet packs at Superdrug where they will be recycled. Only branches with a pharmacy offer this facility. A coffee in Waterstones led to olddudders choosing a Bryson book for his 75th birthday, which is tomorrow. It made a change as his preferred choices tend to be hobby related (photography, motor racing or model railways). I found a few stocking fillers plus some neat little LED fairy lights which are already in use to cheer these dreary days!

Wells is such a lovely place, karmalady; my late in laws retired there and I have fond memories of visiting it.

Your hands are always occupied in something useful, grandMattie! An example to all.

Such good news from kalu!

Happy weekend, everyone, despite the serious commemoration. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning all - still dark in N Bucks so I have no idea what the weather will be! D2 and GS came last night and we are driving up to Birmingham for a family lunch for GS2's birthday. D3 and family are looking in on their way up from London too as I think the girls want to visit their fathers grave. I took white roses yesterday for the anniversary of his death and the pink cyclamen I put there for his birthday in September is still flowering nicely.
Wishing you all a peaceful and pleasant day

Morning from a cold S Hampshire, 3deg.
Very productive gMattie and karmalady your skilled have always eluded me.
Yesterday a lovely afternoon with Imogen, she’d forgotten her key, until she was picked up, then a lovely chat with her Mum and brother. Tesco delivered everything ordered, later we had a catch up in our local.
MrJ will cut thé grass today before the rain returns tomorrow, I’ve a couple of things to drop to my son and a walk in the autumnal colours.
Have a peaceful day.

Morning all, we were woken by The Imp asking if we were asleep 🤣 He is now downstairs with DD and his brother.

When they have gone home it’s a quick dash round Aldi’s then we are off to my sisters till tomorrow evening.

Have a good remembrance weekend folks, 🦩🙋‍♀️

Morning Mick, morning All. A clear start to our corner of Somerset. Local flooding yesterday, a relief to have a dry day.

Off over the bridge today. Will pay a visit to Mr C’s parents grave, meet our friend for lunch and if we’ve all got enough energy accompany her to her home to see her renovations. I’m a bit anxious about the travelling, keep your fingers crossed for me.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. 3° at present rising to 10, but staying dry.
DH and I will walk to the City Hall where the 11am silence will be observed on the steps outside by dignitaries. A lot of shoppers and traffic are usually disgruntled at being stopped and it'll be especially busy as it's Saturday.
We'll get some lunch out and return for an afternoon nap.
We have tickets to see Stephen K Amos tonight. The venue is in the City only a short walk from home. We've seen him before and both agree he's very funny.
Love to all 🦩 x

Gingster Sat 11-Nov-23 07:40:33

Good morning all and it’s a very chilly one.
Dgd1 stayed last night and we are both off to ds2’s for the weekend to watch dgd4 in the musical The Little Mermaid. She has a main part and her younger sister is in the chorus line. ☺️.
We are travelling by train to Hertfordshire, so an adventure ensues.
Dh will stay home to look after little pooch and go to a footie match this afternoon.

You’ve settled in so well to your new home GM - church, hobbies and your lovely neighbour. It isn’t easy to start afresh so well done to you. 👍.

Have a lovely weekend everyone and hopefully a peaceful Armistice.. Day. 🙏.

Grammaretto Sat 11-Nov-23 07:42:14

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 2°C but sunny. Almost all the leaves have fallen from trees in my garden now.
Saturday café so I've baked a cake.

This afternoon is part 2 of the sculpture workshop. I was exhausted after it yesterday. So much concentration but very pleasant.

I looked up my ancestors in the military records which are free on Ancestry and findmypast this weekend.
Poignant to see gt uncle Bert, a 22year old NZ farmer signing up in 1916 to help the war in Europe. He was one of the lucky ones and survived. My cousin has a postcard he sent her gran from Glasgow.

Have a good day everyone.

Mizuna Sat 11-Nov-23 07:52:29

Good morning from Cornwall where it's clear-skied and almost sunny. Late to bed last night, 2am, as my daughter and I breathed in the night air on my patio. I left her there clutching a hot water bottle and listening to the night sounds of people revelling in the town centre. Maybe she's still out there now. 😂

Remembrance weekend is poignant for me, as I exist due to a young man, my brothers' dad, dying in the war. My mum had one baby boy and was pregnant with my other brother when he was killed. She then met a sailor whose Royal Navy ship came into port, married him and I came along. So many back-stories and memories for so many people this weekend.

RosesandLilac Sat 11-Nov-23 07:54:37

Good morning everyone, a bright start here on the edge of the Cotswolds.
Yesterday morning was spent doing housework and washing, all looking tidy now.
A friend’s son has miraculously sorted out my comatose laptop, it’s been unusable for a number of years! It will be useful for watching zoom tutorials when I eventually get round to settling down and starting the art classes I’ve signed up for 😊
Today if it’s nice weather we will get out for a decent dog walk somewhere, I quite fancy going to Bratton Castle. I will see if DH is interested.
Have a nice weekend everyone 🌹

Mizuna Sat 11-Nov-23 07:56:41

What sort of sculpture are you doing Grammaretto?

Urmstongran Sat 11-Nov-23 08:01:40

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s dry with 8°C forecast. Glad to hear you are with your family this anniversary weekend Maw.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from a dry and cold Inverness
It’ll be our turn soon for a new bathroom gMattie so I’m following your progress with much interest! Good to hear you’ve got good skilled workmen that you can rely on
Well done to your DGDs gingster I hope the musical goes well, you’ll be so very proud of them both
Nothing much planned today but there’s lots to do in the house and garden to keep me busy. Like grammaretto says most of the leaves are now down here too so I’ll be out clearing them up whenever it’s dry 🍁
Good to hear some better news from Kalu yesterday, hoping for more good news today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 11-Nov-23 08:05:11

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I think OH and I are off to a large garden centre this afternoon. We will buy a bronze fennel and a fuchsia. The farm shop is brilliant and I will stock up on my favourite aubergine pickle.
I also have some WI admin to do. It is our meeting on Wednesday and I always send out an email the weekend before with information.
Younger son is still here. He cooked us a delicious lasagne yesterday.
Certainly this is a poignant weekend for many. We will remember them.♥️

Susan56 Sat 11-Nov-23 08:09:16

Good morning from Shropshire.

H was much better yesterday so came back with big sis for a couple of nights.Fireworks late last night led to DGD sleeping in my bed and DH in the spare bed.H slept through it all.

Today I have to get DGD’s Beaver uniform parade ready. She is in the colour party leading the parade tomorrow.Inspection at the scout hut at 10😳DD had given her money to buy a poppy at school. She bought a snapband, a key ring and a pencil! We went to the supermarket to get a poppy and the 94 year old selling the poppies said she should be very proud to be on parade. He gave her a second poppy in case one got creased.

The children have requested Christmas decorations to be put up🤦🏼‍♀️I have said they can put some in the conservatory🤷‍♀️

Gosh karma that’s a lot of money for half a trolley full.

Sounds like the work is coming on really well grandMattie.

Safe travels corner and also to Gingster.

Thank you for the information about the free access to military records Grammaretto.Something we will do tomorrow afternoon after the children have gone home.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Alygran Sat 11-Nov-23 08:11:06

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another dry day beckons.
This morning I’m going to do some admin then get into the garden. I hope it’s dried up enough to do the lawns.
Bedding already in the machine and I’m putting the electric blanket on the bed before I remake it. Tonight it’s the village firework party. As a thankful villlage we have our party for remembrance weekend. This started in 2018 on the 100th anniversary. Tomorrow’s service of remembrance will be on the village green.
Wishing you all a good day.

Greyduster Sat 11-Nov-23 08:15:57

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny but cold South Yorkshire on this Remembrance Day. Not a lot on my agenda today, except to sweep fallen leaves off the patio and do a general tidy up of the last of the dead summer plants. My rockery wall will need regenerating next season - I plan a blitz! Rockeries are my gardening passion.
Corner safe travels and a happy day today.
To all who need one, a hug, and some sunshine I hope.
Have the best day you can.

Grandmabatty Sat 11-Nov-23 08:16:58

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and frosty. Blue skies above. Ash I used to be a fan of Bill Bryson. I haven't read any for ages. GrandMattie sounds like the work is being done to a high standard.
Yesterday dd and dgs2 did pop in for a visit. It is always nice to see them. She's busy making a Spiderman cake for someone today. She has had cakes to make for a number of weekends now. Later I visited mum who was very tired but managed to chat a little. She was in a good mood.
Today I have food shopping to do, and some housework. I did most of the washing yesterday. A friend is phoning for a long chat in the afternoon. Then I'll watch Strictly tonight. I'll sweep up the garden too. Like Brook and Grammaretto the trees are bare and next door's enormous tree has dumped its lot in my drive and garden. I fancy salmon or trout for dinner. I hope Aldi can oblige. Have a good day all

ginny Sat 11-Nov-23 08:18:44

Good morning. We had a slight frost overnight here in N. Bucks. The sun is out at the moment.
I am off to a full day of craft workshops with some crafting friends. No idea what we will be making but sure to enjoy it.
Wishing all a good day.

Grammaretto Sat 11-Nov-23 08:19:04

The sculpture is a head. Mizuna 10 grinof us are building heads using clay. We have a very patient model who has been telling us his life story. He is a one of the Windrush generation. He kindly told me that my head looks like his mother.grin

Good to get better news from Kalu
Hope today is not too sad Maw

Liberty Sat 11-Nov-23 08:19:10

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk with remains of frost on the grass.

I’m off to the country market in our nearest town shortly and then I hope to pot the tulip bulbs in tubs and a tray of violas I bought before my recent trip. I think DH and I and the little dog will have a wander out to the seaside where tea and cake will feature after a walk along the prom.

Thinking of all those remembering family members lost in wars not only in this country but those still suffering in ongoing conflicts today in several parts of the world.
