Good Morning Saturday 11th November 2023

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I think OH and I are off to a large garden centre this afternoon. We will buy a bronze fennel and a fuchsia. The farm shop is brilliant and I will stock up on my favourite aubergine pickle.
I also have some WI admin to do. It is our meeting on Wednesday and I always send out an email the weekend before with information.
Younger son is still here. He cooked us a delicious lasagne yesterday.
Certainly this is a poignant weekend for many. We will remember them.♥️

Nothing much planned today but there’s lots to do in the house and garden to keep me busy. Like grammaretto says most of the leaves are now down here too so I’ll be out clearing them up whenever it’s dry 🍁

Good morning everyone, a bright start here on the edge of the Cotswolds.
Yesterday morning was spent doing housework and washing, all looking tidy now.
A friend’s son has miraculously sorted out my comatose laptop, it’s been unusable for a number of years! It will be useful for watching zoom tutorials when I eventually get round to settling down and starting the art classes I’ve signed up for 😊
Today if it’s nice weather we will get out for a decent dog walk somewhere, I quite fancy going to Bratton Castle. I will see if DH is interested.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's clear-skied and almost sunny. Late to bed last night, 2am, as my daughter and I breathed in the night air on my patio. I left her there clutching a hot water bottle and listening to the night sounds of people revelling in the town centre. Maybe she's still out there now. 😂

Remembrance weekend is poignant for me, as I exist due to a young man, my brothers' dad, dying in the war. My mum had one baby boy and was pregnant with my other brother when he was killed. She then met a sailor whose Royal Navy ship came into port, married him and I came along. So many back-stories and memories for so many people this weekend.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 2°C but sunny. Almost all the leaves have fallen from trees in my garden now.
Saturday café so I've baked a cake.

This afternoon is part 2 of the sculpture workshop. I was exhausted after it yesterday. So much concentration but very pleasant.

I looked up my ancestors in the military records which are free on Ancestry and findmypast this weekend.
Poignant to see gt uncle Bert, a 22year old NZ farmer signing up in 1916 to help the war in Europe. He was one of the lucky ones and survived. My cousin has a postcard he sent her gran from Glasgow.

Good morning all and it’s a very chilly one.
Dgd1 stayed last night and we are both off to ds2’s for the weekend to watch dgd4 in the musical The Little Mermaid. She has a main part and her younger sister is in the chorus line. ☺️.
We are travelling by train to Hertfordshire, so an adventure ensues.
Dh will stay home to look after little pooch and go to a footie match this afternoon.

You’ve settled in so well to your new home GM - church, hobbies and your lovely neighbour. It isn’t easy to start afresh so well done to you. 👍.

Good morning from sunny Colchester. 3° at present rising to 10, but staying dry.
DH and I will walk to the City Hall where the 11am silence will be observed on the steps outside by dignitaries. A lot of shoppers and traffic are usually disgruntled at being stopped and it'll be especially busy as it's Saturday.
We'll get some lunch out and return for an afternoon nap.
We have tickets to see Stephen K Amos tonight. The venue is in the City only a short walk from home. We've seen him before and both agree he's very funny.

Morning Mick, morning All. A clear start to our corner of Somerset. Local flooding yesterday, a relief to have a dry day.

Off over the bridge today. Will pay a visit to Mr C’s parents grave, meet our friend for lunch and if we’ve all got enough energy accompany her to her home to see her renovations. I’m a bit anxious about the travelling, keep your fingers crossed for me.

When they have gone home it’s a quick dash round Aldi’s then we are off to my sisters till tomorrow evening.

Yesterday a lovely afternoon with Imogen, she’d forgotten her key, until she was picked up, then a lovely chat with her Mum and brother. Tesco delivered everything ordered, later we had a catch up in our local.
MrJ will cut thé grass today before the rain returns tomorrow, I’ve a couple of things to drop to my son and a walk in the autumnal colours.

Good morning all - still dark in N Bucks so I have no idea what the weather will be! D2 and GS came last night and we are driving up to Birmingham for a family lunch for GS2's birthday. D3 and family are looking in on their way up from London too as I think the girls want to visit their fathers grave. I took white roses yesterday for the anniversary of his death and the pink cyclamen I put there for his birthday in September is still flowering nicely.

Good morning from a chilly but dry Torbay.

Yesterday, we had a successful trip into town where we dropped off empty foil tablet packs at Superdrug where they will be recycled. Only branches with a pharmacy offer this facility. A coffee in Waterstones led to olddudders choosing a Bryson book for his 75th birthday, which is tomorrow. It made a change as his preferred choices tend to be hobby related (photography, motor racing or model railways). I found a few stocking fillers plus some neat little LED fairy lights which are already in use to cheer these dreary days!

Wells is such a lovely place, karmalady; my late in laws retired there and I have fond memories of visiting it.

Your hands are always occupied in something useful, grandMattie! An example to all.

Good morning all from early Harrogate! Good to hear you sounding more like yourself Marydoll I’m awake early pending today’s trip to Scarborough for DSis IL’s 80 th birthday. We. Are staying with her for 2 nights. Taking her for afternoon tea this afternoon, then joining the family for a meal tomorrow, then home on Monday. I might not get the chance to post for a few days.

Good morning, a lovely sunny day today in s somerset

The fields on my way to Wells yesterday were like large lakes,the roads were running with water and the shop was quiet. I restrained myself from buying too much but I did get a few treats for christmas. The small trolley was half full and I nearly fainted at the cost, £93.

I made my cosy fleece-backed dress/tunic yesterday, turned out wonderful and fits me. This weight loss is making a difference. I am off out again today as I want to get a few more things, another 30 mile round trip but really that will be it for this winter. I don`t want to be shopping when it is heaving there

Good morning from Bristol.
My bathroom was very skilfully plastered in a morning yesterday, and the mountain of rubbish piled outside, taken away in the afternoon. The plasterer was a very interesting young man. He’s doing an OU degree in philosophy and ? (a PPE?). We had a nice chat.
The afternoon was spent helping my neighbour opposite learn the skills of teabag folding. She was thrilled with the result (it leaves me cold).
I made dinner, a chicken tagine and couscous, took it upstairs together with my overnight stuff and we settled to a very pleasant evening, me getting on really well with what feels like a mile long scarf for DD1. I found out that I hade knitted nearly 500m of wool!
There will be a craft sale during the coffee and chat in church this morning. I assume 2 minutes silence will be observed during that.
kalu, what great news, I’m so happy for you both; Marydoll, glad that things are “less worse” as a friend used to put it. Enjoy the little girls.
