Do you like flowers in the house?

Do you like to be given flowers for the home as a birthday gift, anniversary etc or as a nice surprise? Would you buy yourself flowers? I ask because I would prefer a pot plant or chocolates

Thanks Mollygo for sharing the tip about sellotaping he vase.
The only ‘tip’ I know is that flowers in a vase should be in odd numbers as they look better when arranged. Apparently.

Anyone who knows me well also knows that I love flowers. I do buy them for myself, but I’m also very fortunate to be gifted with them often. I had my 70th birthday in September and my house looked like a florists for several weeks.

I’m happy to receive mixed bunches, but prefer a vase of one type whether that’s tulips, roses, sunflowers, or my favourites; alstroemeria (they last forever) or freesia (for fragrance).

My youngest son grows plants and so I also have a wide array of plants that I try not to kill. I have two very ancient Christmas/Easter cactus plants that are in flower now and will flower again in the spring.

I had my 80th birthday this month and had quite a few bunches of flowers given to me. They have looked lovely and lasted well, so I've resolved to treat myself regularly. 💐

We buy three lots of cut flowewrs a week as part of the supermarket shop, for living room, kitchen and our bedroom. If we are given any on top, they go in the hall.

Thank you Marydoll and kittylester.

I’ve had some health problems resulting in me becoming a slightly different version of myself from previously and it’s taken me a while to adjust. With counselling and lots of family support I’m adapting and beginning to pick things up again. 🤗

I’d love flowers and pot plants in every room but one of my cats won’t leave them alone. He’ll chew the leaves of anything then throw up.
Of course I know which plants are poisonous for cats and of course I grow pots of grass for the cats.
