Not sure where Scotland comes into it- I was talking about Greece and didn’t even mention Scotland. Of course Scotland is part of the UK. It would be ridiculous not to be, despite what some say. My grandson is an ‘honorary Greek’ and was adopted as one of theirs when he attended a Greek school during high school.

Rishi should put an end to all the discussions over the years. As a gesture of goodwill he should return them to their rightful country.
Let'e not hang on to artifacts which would be better displayed in Greece and replace them with some history of our own country.

We may “own” these items, but culturally they belong in Greece who want them back to be reunited with other surviving Parthenon sculptures. The British museum didn’t buy them, they were donated by a Elgin in lieu of unpaid tax when he was in the middle of an expensive divorce. We should be gracious enough to return them. Ditto the Benin bronzes which were definitely looted.

When I was a young child I really thought they were marbles and wondered what all the fuss was about!

There are lots of antiquities plundered from around the world. I often think of all these items on a roundabout as part of a type of swap shop event till they end up where they originated. Our museums would look very different.
