So, I am quite ahead of myself this year having written, posted and delivered my cards, sorted the food and done most of the shopping.

All the shopping is on the dining table waiting to be wrapped up this weekend.

Except, DD3 has just asked us to have their 3 children on Saturday. Our dining room is in the middle of the house and not isolate-able (is that a word?) And the children always play hide and seek here going in the back of the wardrobes, under the stairs......

I think I need a lie down!!!!

Eek! Do tell us when you've worked out a solution!

Baggs Wed 06-Dec-23 17:44:58

Black bin bags. Garage. Came to mind.

But risky!

RosiesMaw Wed 06-Dec-23 17:45:22

Could you hide them in the car?

Shelflife Wed 06-Dec-23 17:45:31

I think you do ! Your GC sound just like mine - good luck!

Help! I can't get motivated!!

Auntieflo Wed 06-Dec-23 18:57:05

Oh Kitty, do you have good neighbours who could come to the rescue?
It's something that we have done in the past.
Best of luck, and Breathe......

I’m feeling very smug, or I was, gifts all wrapped, birthday gifts all wrapped.

Christmas cards all written, stamps on envelopes, just about to go and post them and realised that what I thought were 2nd class post stamps are actually 2p stamps!
I now have to go to the Post office and buy some more stamps, not sure where the 2p stamps came from either.
Just some baking to do on Friday to take down to the South West on Sunday and I can relax.

Can they ( the presents, not the grandchildren 🀣) go up in the loft for the weekend?
Fingers crossed 🀞

Callistemon21 Wed 06-Dec-23 19:02:09

Do you have any large cardboard boxes?
Bung it all in boxes, seal with packing tape and label "china" "kitchen goods" "tools" etc or other boring labels.

Are they allowed in your bedroom? Put the boxes in there.

Oh dear, I'm panicking now .....

Callistemon21 Wed 06-Dec-23 19:04:33

Are they allowed in your bedroom? Put the boxes in there.

Then take the door handle off 😁
Making sure you can screw it back on again!

Rosie51 Wed 06-Dec-23 19:06:51

You're not alone Callistemon21, I've bought two gifts, ordered two more and do have a Christmas pud......but that's it. I need to get going! No I lie, I've written about 6 cards, no stamps on them yet, thought I'd wait until they were all done.

crazyH Wed 06-Dec-23 19:17:02

I’m still ordering stuff from you know where 😫

kittylester Wed 06-Dec-23 19:20:36

Just realised, the house next door is empty and we have a key!!

Now, kids in there or presents?

M0nica Wed 06-Dec-23 19:27:18

You can entertain your grandchildren in the house next door, Brilliant idea kl

... as long as you stick some toys in the bin bags for them to play with, it should be OK...

The car is an amazingly useful storage item; when we were moving house and had viewers, any stacks of paperwork, odd items that ruined the 'minimalist' look, and on several occasions the cats, all went into the car. Back seat/boot, throw a blanket over. (This will only fall apart if you are taking the children out anywhere. )

Play the theme tune from Jaws kittylester. It’s just when you thought it was safe to back in the water time. I was emergency granny for the school run yesterday - I solved it by getting up early and collecting rather than the easier option of them being dropped off here.
Best of luck as your wonderful organisation is under attack

TerriBull Sat 09-Dec-23 11:29:41

Well don't do what I've done in previous times, secrete them in really well thought hiding places around the house, so, good were those various nooks, that I couldn't remember where they were when the wrapping time came
shock Oh well there's next years present/s if they fail to be recovered in time.

Good luck.

kittylester Sat 09-Dec-23 11:30:04

Everything is in the car boot - easier than trailing it all round to next door and S*d's law says they would have had a viewing booked and we'd have had to panic again.
