Welcome, dear Kitcheners. Enjoy the new kitchen and, once again, thank you all for helping to make it a very special place.

flowers brew wine cupcake cafe and a huge group hug.

Good evening Kitcheners. Sadly I had a bad day with dgs2. He fought me all day. Whatever I decided, he refused. Eating was a challenge as he only wanted cake. He refused all breakfast options and lunch was thrown in the kitchen sink (by him). I've never known such a strong willed, contrary toddler. He had three full on tantrums too. Distraction didn't work. So I dropped him and his brother off gladly 😂. I love them both dearly but he was very hard work today. I've had a late comfort dinner of stovies and a martini and I'm lying on the couch watching rubbish on the tv. I hope everyone is ok

Grannmarie Tue 16-Jan-24 20:17:32

Enjoy your Martini, Grandmabatty, you've certainly earned it! 🍹

‘Evening All’.

My cough got worse today so late morning I rang my doctor’s surgery. Got an afternoon appointment. She listened to my chest heard ‘slight crackles’, so prescribed amoxicillin for seven days instead of five and sent me to our hospital up the road - only 15 minute walk from the surgery - where I had a chest X-ray done at 4pm. Very efficient. I’m glad I went. I need to stay well for obvious reasons.

I feel a bit low tonight. It’ll pass.

Iam64 Tue 16-Jan-24 21:31:58

Take the meds urmston and get as much rest as you can x

Jaxjacky Tue 16-Jan-24 22:09:44

Very well done your surgery Urms couple of days the drugs will kick in, x

GrannySomerset Tue 16-Jan-24 22:24:20

Mention of Power of Attorney reminds me that I was more than glad we had put it in place well before we needed it. Dealing with DH’s affairs as he lost his iron grip on reality was so simple, and having it there saves our loved ones much anxiety and expense if we are no longer able to manage our own affairs. It won’t happen a day sooner just because you have been organised and provident - just as having an up to date will won’t make you die any sooner, to quote my late lamented MiL.

SueDonim Tue 16-Jan-24 22:45:27

Sending hugs, if you like them, Urms or non-contact hugs if you prefer. flowers
Neine I’m so sorry you’ve had these episodes too. I was thinking I was the only one. I’ve had a diagnosis of Induced laryngeal obstruction also known as ILO/VCD, laryngeal spasm. Breathing exercises have been recommended which it sounds is what you do. Would you mind if I PM-ed you, if it’s the same condition?

The shock of it all hit me last night and I managed to see a GP today (I got the impression she hadn’t had a case before). She was very kind and supportive. I feel very wobbly about everything at the moment.

TOYA

PS dd1 arrived back home safely from the US. smile

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 16-Jan-24 23:01:17

A very late trip to the kitchen dear kitchen people. I’m sorry so many of you are down in the dumps.
I decorated the cake I had made ready to take to WI tomorrow evening for the member who has just turned 90! I fiddled around with some admin and prepared a short study on the Woman Taken in Adultery for my little home group tonight. It seemed to go down well.
It is yet another U3A lunch tomorrow. This time we are meeting at an Italian.

Sleep tight.

Nannytopsy Tue 16-Jan-24 23:05:16

Evening all! DD has spent this afternoon in hospital and her baby will be induced on Saturday if not before. Our bags are nearly ready to go and I have cancelled my seat on the WI trip tomorrow. Looking after DGS will be our role. I hope we don’t have your problems GrandmaB!

Time for bed I think! NNGB

brook2704 Tue 16-Jan-24 23:24:04

Good evening kitchen pals just a quick visit to the kitchen to say we’ve arrived safely in Tenerife, we had just an hours delay that was nothing to do with the snow, but a discrepancy with the number of bags on board🤦‍♀️
We arrived at our apartment in a little village in the north of the island and we were met by the nicest lady ever. Between us we communicated ok, me with some Spanish and her with some English, she filled us in on all local knowledge and has left us to it. We’ve got lots of walking and exploring to do and relaxing in the sunshine. I can’t tell you about the view yet as it was dark when we arrived!

There’s lots of news to catch up on but wanted to say there’s lots of poorlies in the kitchen just now, hoping everyone feels a bit better soon, please take care everyone x

grandmabatty you definitely deserved that Martini, a really tough day for you, little people are not easy I know! 💐

Naughtyneine Wed 17-Jan-24 10:02:43

Quickly popping in before the gym...
SueD..of course you can pm me anytime.
GrandmaB...I think you deserved at least 2 Martinis...is it anything in particular that sets him off?
Brook...have a fabulous time.
NannyT... How exciting..only a few days to go it would seem until you met your new DGC. Fingers crossed all goes well. ( I'll say a prayer to St Gerard Majella too, he is the patron saint of expectant Mother's and has stood me in good stead over the years)
Urms...Hope your cough improves really quickly and your spirits lift too. 💐

GrannyGravy13 Wed 17-Jan-24 10:12:05

I am always so behind with the kitchen news, sorry 😘

Grandmabatty I can empathise with you regarding your DGS’s tantrums our youngest GS (4 a couple of weeks ago) is a master at tantrums, they can be upsetting and definitely tiring.

Urmstongran take your meds and rest as much as possible, we need you fit and well 😘

Nein and SueD that sounds scary.

Will pop back later 👋

Grandmabatty Wed 17-Jan-24 10:15:43

Grannygravy thank you for the sympathy. Dgs2 was really happy to see me this morning (I was taking dgs1 to nursery) but had a tantrum for his other gran when I was leaving so I don't feel so bad!

cornergran Wed 17-Jan-24 10:18:42

It seems several Kitcheners are having a tough time at the moment, my love to you all, I won’t mention names for fear of missing someone.

We’re happier holiday-wise, confirmation it’s another six weeks before the booking can’t be changed. Very helpful coach company. As long as we know where our friend will be by then it will be easier to make a sensible decision. Feels better

It was non stop aggro here yesterday, no need to bore you with it, other than a very welcome call from a friend who cheered me immensely. I’m sure she’s clairvoyant, always knows when to phone.

Neighbours coming for coffee soon, they are good company, a trip to a far flung surgery this afternoon. for a cortisone injection for me and with luck a stop for a warming cuppa in the way back. Not bad at all

Stay warm everyone, take care of yourselves.

annsixty Wed 17-Jan-24 10:28:11

Good morning all.
I am popping in to say I could be a GGM by this evening.
I am very anxious that all goes well.
I am full of excitement but trepidation. I don’t know why.

Yiayia4 Wed 17-Jan-24 13:52:13

Hello Kitcheners. What a scare you’ve had SueD but good you have a supportive G.P.🪻
Hope your feeling a bit better today Urms and the antibiotics do the trick.🌻

Take it easy Blossoming and keep well.

DS2 and GF coming tomorrow for the weekend,Not seen them since November so really looking forward to it.Will be swapping Christmas presents at last, and hearing all the plans for the wedding.
Still cold but no sunshine.
Enjoy Brooke.🌞
Have a pleasant afternoon everyone.

soop Wed 17-Jan-24 15:02:35

annsixty Wow! Please keep us lot updated. smile

Nannytopsy Exciting times are in store. grin

brook Have fun in the sun. You deserve it.

Grandmabatty You are a tip-top grannie. Just try to remember that when tantrums explode "this too will pass".

Urms Us lot are only human. It is natural to have down days. Shall we sit in the quiet corner together? No need for words. flowers

SueD You are being well cared for. Nothing more important than a supportive GP in times of stress.

Mr Soop is yet again having his scalp cleaned up. He has an important scan next week. Fingers crossed that snow doesn't create travel disruption.

corner I have a friend very like yours. Whenever we chat, she never fails to raise my spirits. It's a gift. smile

GrannySomerset We are to have a meaningful chat at the weekend with our son designated to undertake the responsibility of Power of Attorney. Two other sons are already dealing with such matters on behalf of their respective in-laws.

It is a beautiful day. Plenty of sunshine ('though not warm) and a beautiful scene through the window of the snow-capped peaks of the islands of Islay and Jura.

Please note...no visitation from Sweetie Pie. I ask you...wink

Continue to keep warm and, may our poorly Kitcheners rest and recover.

Until tomorrow. smile moon]

Hello kitchen people.
It’s so good to read about what you’re all getting up to.
OH and I had a lovely Italian U3A lunch. We didn’t get home until after 3 pm. My beef and mushroom concoction was delicious.
I’ve spent the last couple of hours sorting out things for my trip to London tomorrow (Tate Britain for a study day on women artists followed by dinner in Kew with elder son and his family) and packing everything for the WI meeting this evening. The competition is a photo of our favourite or first car. I found an old photo of my first car. It was a blue mini and I painted a red racing stripe on the bonnet.
Have a good evening.

annsixty Wed 17-Jan-24 16:59:49

Best wishes to Nannytopsys D.
Things are not progressing here and a decision is being made in an hour as to the best way forward.
C-section has been mentioned.

gillgran Wed 17-Jan-24 17:41:03

Anxious but exciting times for the families of the two new babies due.
Thinking of you both & your families, annsixty & Nannytopsy

Warm thoughts to all in the kitchen, especially those with extra worries just now. x

Jaxjacky Wed 17-Jan-24 18:03:51

I hope you’ve had a better day Grandmabatty.
Fingers crossed those ‘ladies in waiting’ have timely and uneventful births.
Sounds delightful brook my Spanish vocabulary would just get me in trouble!
Good to see you back and improving *Blossoming’.
It’s been cold and grey here all day, we slept late this morning, so even after a shower straight from bed I was still groggy.
But, this afternoon I ventured to my first U3A meeting, it was interesting, I’ve joined so we’ll see.
Have a pleasant evening all.

annsixty Wed 17-Jan-24 18:06:36
