Really sorry. Such a hard decision, sleep tight Frasier.

AGAA4 Thu 14-Dec-23 19:42:46

So sorry ttgran. Hard to say goodbye to a faithful pal. 💐

I'm so sorry. It's the worst thing you have to do as a dog owner but you do it because you love them.

Aveline Thu 14-Dec-23 19:49:37

Oh dear. I'm so sorry. Of course you're heartbroken. Your poor old friend. You did the right thing for him. Console yourself with that and remember the happy times you had with him.

I too have just had my beautiful 15 year old dog put to sleep. A hard decision for me, but the right one for her. As my lovely vet said "this is the final act of kindness". She slipped off to sleep after we spent time with her, quietly, and feeding her handmade cheese dog biscuits made by the veterinary nurse. The house seems so quiet......

I’m so very sorry. I and many others here know exactly what you’re going through. You did the right for Frasier and have prevented him suffering further. It’s so very hard to do even though we know it’s the right thing. Rest in peace Frasier, you well loved and faithful friend. May you be reunited with him when the time comes.

So sorry - I couldn’t sleep for days after. We had put a little bell on his collar, so we knew where he was at all times. I kept hearing this bell for days- still miss her 😢

crazyH Thu 14-Dec-23 20:05:47

Sorry, her collar

I’m so sorry, ttgran. They leave a pet-shaped hole in your heart, don’t they? flowers

Our Border Collie was 16 and had heart failure. It was horrible for us but he was so ready to go. Life had just become too much for him.

Witzend Thu 14-Dec-23 20:16:36

It’s such a horrible decision to have to make, isn’t it? But you do it because you love them and don’t want them to suffer. I put it off for too long, twice, because it was so heartbreaking.
Sending you lots of sympathy, 💐 and xxx.

Tenko Thu 14-Dec-23 20:18:44

I’m so sorry ttgran. Dogs are really members of the family and it’s heartbreaking when they leave us. I’ve been through it twice , both times we had to make that awful decision .
Thinking of you

I'm so sorry for all who have been through this with their pets. Cats and dogs are family members. I have had to do this 3 times and it's a horrible decision to have to make. We do it out of love and compassion for their suffering.

Big hugs to all of you. flowers

Oh I so know how you are feeling, I'm crying writing this. We had to put our gorgeous, gentle labrador to sleep 4 weeks ago. She was 13 and for a few weeks had been struggling to walk due to arthritis. For the first time in her life she didn't want to eat, and we knew then that she'd just had enough of struggling. It was the hardest decision to put her to sleep, but we knew she just couldn't go on and it was the kindest thing to do. We are all heartbroken and I just can't get used to such an empty house. Our pets have a special place in our hearts and we can take comfort knowing we gave and received love in buckets.

Redrobin51 Thu 14-Dec-23 20:35:28

My heart goes out to you. When we had to have our 16 year old rescue dog put to sleep I honestly thought my heart would break as she had been such a loving, wonderful dog. The hole she left will never be completely filled but we have another lovely rescue, completely different but fantastic in her own way. Be gentle with yourself and let yourself grieve, thinking of you. X

ttgran Sorry to hear about your Frasier. You loved him and he was your friend. I always had cats but the sadness is the same. My boy died on our street, 14 months ago. I miss him still. x

Patsy70 Thu 14-Dec-23 20:59:15

So very sad to hear this news of your faithful Frasier. You will miss your boy so much. It was the kindness thing to do, but it’s not much consolation at this time. Thinking of you. 💐

Ali23 Thu 14-Dec-23 21:19:31

I know just how you feel. We had our beautiful 16 year old border terrier put to sleep 2 weeks ago today. She simply couldn’t go one and had struggled for long enough, but I felt absolutely broken . We have her photos all around us and we now have her ashes back which is a comfort, but I would give anything to have her here with me now.

Sending you a heartfelt hug

ttgran Thu 14-Dec-23 21:25:49

Thank you for your kind words I did question whether I should wait a few more weeks but that would have been for me not wanting him to go, looking at him with those brown eyes looking at me it was time to say goodbye
Thank you once again

Had to have my beautiful cat Amie put to sleep in August. Not well then vet said she had multiple tumours . I’d only had her 4 years she was only 9. I feel for you so much I have a huge lump in my throat writing this it’s a terrible thing to have to go through

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 15-Dec-23 08:21:24

Sending you a hug ttgran. It's the last kind, responsibility to your companion. I miss my old cat every day but her life had become so difficult for her it was the best thing.

Smileless2012 Fri 15-Dec-23 09:09:05

I'm so sorry ttgran flowers for you and everyone who has recently lost their wonderful pet companion. It's what we all dread.
