Hi everybody this forum was suggested to me by a very dear friend who a grandmother herself has told me that brilliant advice opinions and chat is often expressed however I am not a Grandmother but a 62 year old Grandfather to my daughters dogs. Is this site exclusively for Grandmothers, if so I will not intrude any more.

As this is the Internet, we have no way of knowing about one another and don't know any more than posters tell us.

So long as people don't bang on about their relative youth, their maleness or other things that they expect make them more important and entitled to the last word, everyone is welcome.

I mean that to sound more friendly and welcoming than it possibly does, by the way grin. Just join in, enjoy it and see if you like us?

You are very welcome Grand2dogs please feel free to jump in on any thread that interests you. Your friend is right about how good the advice is here there’s always someone who’ll have the right info for most questions or just join in the chat threads if you’d like.

I am not a grandmother yet. I live in hope! But I am 65 and the age most grandparents are. You are very welcome Grand2 dogs

No gransnet markets themselves towards grandmother's but their bio clearly states anyone is welcome

No need to have grandchildren to join GN. Welcome smile

Juliet27 Sun 17-Dec-23 12:39:02

Welcome and it would be good to have a ‘grandfather’s’ input at times. I’ve learnt much during the years I’ve been on here. There’s been sadness, empathy, advice and yes, sometimes anger in the various forums but it’s all helped to learn more about myself and others.

The site is open to all older people Gran2dogs irrespective of whether they have grandchildren or not. There are also a lot of dog lovers on here.
As Juliet27 said it would be good to have a 'grandfathers' input at times.
Welcome to GN.

Welcome!

I don't have any grandchildren, either, Grand2dogs but my partner assures me that, as I was present at the adoption formalities, I'm now Grandma to his flock of rescue hens!

Enjoy Gransnet.

We’ve had grandads/males on here before and it’s great to get a different perspective. You are very welcome Gran2dogs.

Welcome !

A man's viewpoint is just as valued as a woman's. And it doesn't matter if your aren't a grandparent. But you have age and experience on your side . Which would be welcome on various forums threads .
Welcome and talk about what you want and give advice , support and understanding if you have been through the same things as others.

M0nica Sun 17-Dec-23 14:31:47

Grandads are always welcome and I wish there were more of you on this site.

Doodledog Sun 17-Dec-23 14:32:32

I don't know that a man's perspective is necessarily different from a woman's, really. Some men and some women will agree about some things, and others won't. It really doesn't matter.

I'm not a grandparent yet, and I don't find it an issue. Most threads aren't about grandchildren anyway.

Taichinan Sun 17-Dec-23 22:37:00

nanna8 Sun 17-Dec-23 22:42:46

Welcome Grand2dogs! Do you have dogs? A lot on here do, we get a fair few threads about them.

seadragon Sun 17-Dec-23 22:50:19

Welcome, Grand2dogs. I have my son's dog, Molly, while he is at work or away and he says she is my favourite grandchild although I am blessed with 3 of the human variety...but I do see more of the dog than the GC as two live hundreds of miles away and the eldest is 19...and busy!! Dogs are so uncomplicated....and easily pleased. Molly keeps me fit too....

Welcome.

Grand2dogs Welcome. There are posters on gransnet who are neither women, grandparents nor over fifty. One at least of the posts on this welcoming thread is certainly from a man, and there may be others.

Most of the time it is not obvious whether anyone is any or all of those things or not, but that doesn't matter. The important thing is that they want to chat with other people and discuss things together.

Sometimes they mention their age, sex or lack of grandchildren when it is relevant to what they are posting, sometimes they don't.

Bonnybanko Mon 18-Dec-23 08:42:43

This site is open to men and women over the age of 50 regardless of whether you’re a grandparent or not. It’s a great platform to vent your feelings, get advice or just chat, welcome all newbies
