I was never that interested in sport, never played as a child, but my goodness why shouldn’t women win twice in succession. It makes up for not winning at all for the last however many years, (for ever.).

If it was a public vote then nothing else to say other than congratulations to Mary. She and her team have inspired many young girls @nd women to take up football and other sport and I am delighted my gc both enjoy it

“They’ve lost to a big bag of spuds that plays in goal for a girl’s team” tweeted Joey Barton. What a horrible man. Fleetwood and Bristol Rovers where he last managed are well shot. Maybe he wants to stay in the news in the hope of getting another job. He also had a go at women football commentators. Any publicity is good?

Well-deserved accolade for a very brave lady. She has inspired several girls I know to take up sport, not just football.

She wasn't my choice although I admire her achievements. I voted for 3rd place Katarina Johnson-Thompson. Having said that Mary was the public's 1st choice so of course she deserves it.

Mary Earps, England Women’s goalkeeper was voted BBC’s Sports Personality Of The Year. A lot have said there were more deserving sport’s people who have achieved more. Also it was an England Women’s player last year. The odious Joey Barton has made some horrible comments on Twitter. Should Mary have got it or is it the ‘woke’ BBC? Personally I think she was voted for so that’s that.
