I Resolve……

(44 Posts)

1. To drink more water.

2. To try and be more productive with my time, i.e. not spend so much time browsing Gransnet etc.

3. To try and not fret about things that probably don’t really matter.

4. To just be a nicer person. Not to snap at DH if he annoys me about something. To think more before I speak. To smile more and be grateful for my many blessings.

I made the resolution to lose weight. I have actually been told by a nurse I need to shed some. I already failed yesterday as we still have loads of Christmas sweets so today we start again. I also have made the resolution to budget (even bought a money journal) and was given a manifestation book so have decided to use it as a journal and write in it every day. Let’s see how many I’m still keeping next month. Wish me luck.

I get around that one by just not buying sweets, chocolates and biscuits and then there are none left. SIL bought me a few bars (dairy-free so not cheap) and the diabetic hubby a box of Thorntons, at least he only spiked his sugar for 2 days as they were finished by the 26th.
My income budgets for me, don't have it cant spend it,
Quite like the idea of a journal, may try that one.

I need to be kinder to hubby and think before I speak, but quite hard when I have to explain things numerous times and repeat myself constantly. Especially when I am quite ill myself and a lot of days am in too much pain to be nice.

To keep a record of every penny I spend so I know where my money is going so I can reduce unnecessary spending.

I have a little dog with health issues. The insurance company is now putting exclusions on things which scares me. I am told as long as he is eating, drinking and reasonably perky I should continue trying to keep him alive.

We are seeing a specialist soon and I know that will annoy the insurance company too. I love the little fellow so much, but will never allow him to suffer.

I Would like to declutter and get the house in order, following a terrible year of poor health. I want to get back on my healthy diet, which has slipped since poor health, and I want to get back to exercising and getting out and about more. I want to cut down on the Internet and WhatsApp and use my time more wisely, for things that will actually make a difference in my life. It's probably a tall order but I'm feeling hopeful 😄. 2024 - here I come! 🎉🎉🎉

Good Luck Fairycakes. You sound to have had the same problems as me. So-- I am contemplating buying an exercise bike and digging out my cossie.

I could have written this list - I just hope I can stick to it!

To read four of the poems in my Robert Burns book every day, to do at least one crossword each day, to learn a poem each month, to buy myself flowers every couple of weeks and to try something I haven't eaten every couple of weeks. So far so good - have learned the first two three verses of To a Mouse, bought a lovely bunch of lilies that were reduced to £1.30 and got some granola, Greek yoghurt and runny honey to try for breakfast. Crossword completed too. Mind you, it is only day two!

The OP's list is mine, except I haven't got a husband but I sadly do tend to be easily irritated by others.

Calendargirl I think your 4 ' resolves' are just perfect!

Love to you and your little darling albertina from me and mine x

Don't usually make any but thought I'd give it a try. Decided to get out and about more and try to make some friends locally, to get more exercise which wouldn't be difficult and the big one is to maybe even go on my first holiday alone even if it's just an overnight stay in London. I've got to try and make a life for myself without my DH.

Desiree1153 - is your 'Manifestation Book' an informative / educational book or one that you'll record your intentions in?
I'm really interested in manifestation and have been considering this method to launch myself productively into 2024 - Please post on how you get on 😉.

Knspol, you are brave, strong & capable - just do it ✊.
My intentions are very similar to yours and I plan to use MeetUp walking groups to get out, exercise and meet new people 🚶‍♀️🤞.
I've also resolved to set myself Monthly Goals for 12 months:
January goal is to declutter spare bedroom cupboards, drawers & wardrobes.

Good luck with your '24 life launch 😘🍀

Dh and I have resolved to eat up all the remaining chocolates (2 unopened boxes still to go) plus leftover Christmas pud and brandy butter, by the time the decorations come down on the 6th. 🐷🐷

Ok , re my previous post I also would like to be a nicer person & not get annoyed when my Husband asks me to repeat myself for the fourth time . Or when he leaves things destined for the bin on the worktop a step away from the bin .Not to complain that he has compiled a collection of cups, glasses or spoons in whatever corner he is sitting in . Or comes in & straight away puts the dogs lead on the table .
All very minor things that add up & annoy me ,which is silly but there it is .
Decluttering is on my list & I have a whole lot of stuff & have already been sending to a local charity shop but want to do a spring car boot .
I’m also revamping my wardrobe by selling on Vinted some of the more expensive clothes , shoes & boots .
I have already started this year by booking tickets for events ,concerts Tom Jones, Billy Joel , Si Craunston,,a murder mystery & Panto to name a few 👌

And to up my game on exercise ( typical new year promise 😜)
Here’s to a happy 2024

Great resolutions Calendargirl. I should follow all of those!

Oh dear I’ve failed No.4 already. I snapped! ☹️

To get up earlier. Having more time in the morning would make such a difference. Haven't managed so far. I'm in bed earlier tonight in the hope that I'll not oversleep tomorrow, especially as DGS is coming. We've promised him a day out at a special kiddies' exhibition as part of his Christmas present.
