Have You Treated Yourself Since Christmas?

I've treated myself to a couple of little things that were on my Christmas list, but which no one had bought for me.
The first was the Harvest teapot by Mark's and Spencer's, which Musicgirl posted on my thread 'Does anyone else have a passion for Teapots?' I do have a passion for teapots and fell in love with it when I saw it in the photo🤗. And she's right - it does make a super cup of tea!

Then when I put up a thread: 'I'm thinking of buying a yarn bowl', Greyduster mentioned a beehive shaped yarn holder that her mother used to use. Intruiged, I set off on a journey of discovery and found them selling on ebay. They were made of bakelite. I liked the look of it and wondered who might have used it all those years ago 🤔. I showed it to hubby, who likes anything vintage and without my knowing, he bought it for me. What a lovely surprise.

Finally, I treated myself to a tension yarn ring, which I had only just learnt about. So I've been having great fun with the yarn holder and tension ring. The tension ring takes the hard work out of crocheting. No more cramped fingers. And my cat can't tamper with the wool 😄🙀.

So have you, or anyone else, treated you since Christmas?

Yes, treated ourselves to a cruise for some winter sun. Husband spent the night on IV fluids after collapsing on bathroom floor. One thing to be said for a cruise ship, the nurse and doctor were at the door very quickly.

I've treated myself to a Glossy Box subscription. It's a monthly box of five beauty products, some full size, others sample size but, in total , worth more, in retail value, than the monthly payment of about £12. It's a pleasant little surprise each month because you don't know in advance what will be in the box.

New bathmat in the M&S sale, two cushion covers from Wayfair sale and a duvet set in the Dunelm sale.

Household linens are my weakness!

I have been spending a lot of money post Christmas. New front and new back doors, MOT with 2 new tyres and an accelerator pedal, lipstick, mascara, skin tonic and been out for coffee and cake 3 times and going again his afternoon. All catching up with friends since I was sadly bereaved in October. I have just ordered a new tap for the bathroom sink so it has to stop now.

Yes. I bought Ghosts: the Button House Archives, since no one chose it off my Christmas list. Sheer indulgence but only ten quid.

Hubby treated us to a spa and overnight stay while driving through Belgium.

We had 2 spa days and an overnight at Waer Waters. Such a nice treat! Forget that temperatures were below 0C at the time. It made for some brisk walking in the outside areas if we wanted to go to the outdoor tuns and pools.

I bought an air fryer in the sales....I'm terrified of it. It sits there, brooding, waiting for me to do something!!

Fairycakes Fri 12-Jan-24 12:34:17

I know what you mean, MargaretinNorthant. I bought an electric pressure cooker a while ago and that scared me. It was mostly the pressure releasing through the vent. It was terrifying 😱. I'm used to it now, but still feel apprehensive about lifting the lid incase it malfunctions, haha! I prefer using my new slow cooker; it's gentler 😊

Yes I have got an olay face moisturiser from boots on there Tuesday £10. Deals. It was originally £38 but as I used my points it cost me nothing. Don't ever buy anything that price

A small armchair for the bedroom, replacement for old one that was not that comfortable and getting tatty. It was in with the new and out with the old the next day as it fitted in the car with the seats down so a quick trip to the tip and a very nice tip man who helped me unload the car.

I have also bought using gift vouchers, two bras, not on sale but needed and one cardigan and one jumper, bargains in the sales. Seems to me we have all been quite busy shopping and not even half way through the month.

polomint

I have thectea tray that matches your teapot. I did have the salt and pepper set and the butter dish too but I gave them away

I was given the salt and pepper pots as a wedding present back in 1985 but as we had nothing else in the design I took them back for a refund. Back then M&S was one of the few places you could return things to without there being anything wrong with them. This post brought it all back!

Well, I visited the Clarkes store in town, and have ordered the bag I wanted , via their shop email.
The assistant did say that their web site had been overloaded with emails?

Fairycakes Fri 12-Jan-24 14:17:12

Very nice trainers, Frenchgalinspain 👍

Romola Fri 12-Jan-24 14:52:48

Bright red cord trousers in M&S sale £11. Great.

Susieq62 Fri 12-Jan-24 15:25:17

I didn’t buy any clothes in 2023 ! Now I have a new jumper, a white shirt plus a dress for a wedding in February. I think that might be it for this year as I have far too many clothes despite clearing out for charity. We don’t go out so much so I slob around a lot in leggings, jeans and fleeces hence no need for many new items

Susieq62 Fri 12-Jan-24 15:26:41

Plus lots of new books !!!

cornergran Fri 12-Jan-24 15:42:16

Several things - decided I deserved them smile.

I bought a new coat for Dylan and a heavenly scented Thisworks candle (sandalwood & orange) from TK Maxx.

Fairycakes Fri 12-Jan-24 17:07:11

Aww, Patsy, I love Dylan and his new coat 🤗🤗
