We have been friends for nearly 20years and although we don’t live very close to each other, we have met every few weeks for lunch, cinema, sight seeing etc.
We have always got on really well and have similar interests, enjoyed each others company and usually have a laugh.
Until a few years ago, when we decided to go away for a few days. It’s difficult to describe what she was like but I found myself walking on egg shells, as she seemed slightly snappy sometimes as though I was getting on her nerves, while the other half of the time perfectly normal.
I put it down to nerves the first time we went away, as she does suffer from this occasionally but I still found it a shock that in all the time I had known her, I had never seen her like this.
So, the next year she wants to go away again but for a week, I was fine with it as I thought maybe she would be “herself” this time but no, more or less the minute we set off travelling this other Jekyll and Hyde person appeared,
I’m not a door mat and sometimes I have stood my ground when she wants something her way, or at her time but it’s not the best is it? Having to be snippy with your friend.
She also makes a time for breakfast, then goes to the dining room early and then rings me to tell me she’s waiting, I usually tell her I’m not ready yet and I’ll see her at 8.30 and then she looks slightly angry when I appear, on the dot. Very strange.
I don’t know what I’m asking here really but has anyone any idea what is going on with her behaviour or had someone behave in a similar fashion.
Maybe even, how you would deal with it, apart from not going away with her at all, as I do enjoy her company a lot of the time.
