Good Morning Thursday 18th January 2024

Morning Mick, morning All. A mere -4 outside here mick, our corner of Somerset seems slightly less freezing. We’re due a sunny day, wonderful.

Yesterday went to plan, thoroughly enjoyable coffee and chat with our neighbours, we are so lucky to have them next door. Steroid injection accomplished with minimal discomfort, helpful advice on managing a troublesome thumb, can’t fault the surgery physiotherapists

Mr C wanted to go out for breakfast today, he may change his mind when the temperature registers. A troublesome damp patch in the conservatory to be inspected this afternoon. It’s very small, not a major worry, just wanting it sorted while the conservatory warranty is current.

Thinking of all facing life’s challenges. Hope Thursday is gentle with us all.

Good morning from Bristol. There is a hard frost judging by what’s on cars. We shall barely go above 0C today, but no snow.
My elder sister died early yesterday morning; she was visiting my younger sister in Australia. It was much quicker than anyone expected, I think. My lovely children reached out to her family, which more than the families did when my two beloved chaps died…
Yesterday was a bit of a muddle. I needed to go out several times, the IKEA chap was nearly an hour late, which really annoyed me as I had thought a lot of the construction would have been done by the time the painter arrived.anyway, the building was done (and I was asked to leave a tip!!!), the painting was started, some pictures and stuff were put up…. Things are moving along nicely.
Today, my tai chi class in the morning, dinner with DD; the painter is coming. Goodness knows how long he’ll be working, but he does a lovely job so I just pay him.
I hope things are tolerable for those in distress/pain. Carpe diem. 🦩🦩🦩🦩

My jumper is finished and looks beautiful, it is made with a blend of 30% alpaca and 70% blue-faced leicester. I have a different colour of the same moordale yarn and may well start another one this afternoon. All part of a slow and steady de-cluttering/use-it-up process

I have no real plans for today but something will evolve, it always does

I made a start on culling books yesterday, we are drowning in them. I’d like to clear a little more space in my craft/piano/book/toy room.
We enjoyed seeing Wonka at the cinema with one of the DGC, lovely to have a little one to one time.

Today I’ll carry on with the book cull and will spend the afternoon crocheting.

Yesterday brought no definite news from the hospital regarding my changing peripheral vision, although a TIA seems the most likely cause. The consultant had hoped that I would have heard from the vascular team by now. He wants me to have a brain scan but won’t proceed until he’s checked whether to make it CT or MRI, depending on exactly what was used to repair my heart valve in late 2022. He was insistent that I need to be available to be seen within two months.

I'm as set as I'll ever be to leave for NZ today. My df will drive me to the airport.

At the craft group I made a three-piece plaque which is still drying. Later I'll construct it with gold wire. I sat next to an ex-biker and we had a lovely chat about motorbikes; I don't know anyone else who's had one, so that was a treat.

To the bank this morning - we still have three open in our town! - to change my rent standing order; first increase in eight years so that's ok. Then to a friend's to deliver her birthday present - a 1,000 grown-up dot-to-dot book of famous paintings, which will make her laugh.

Some very sad news on here today. I heard yesterday that my friend is critically ill.

Today I have to do some bits of shopping and then we will go to deliver a present to DGS4 for his 12th birthday.

Good morning from Colchester where dawn is breaking with an orange glow. The weather app says it's minus 4 outside. Not getting much above freezing all day, but it's going to be dry and sunny. There was no sun yesterday which made the coldness feel much worse.
No plans today, so I'll change the bed and get to work on some spring cleaning. DH will go to the gym this morning and we'll take a walk together after lunch to get some very fresh air.

Mr PG must have new Duracells in because he’s been up for an hour clearing the cupboard for Mr Vaillant 🧑‍🔧 to repair the boiler and I’m urged to stay out of the way….🧐

Yesterday a trip to the hairdressers and a lovely natter with my friend, then home to the warm. My new office chair arrived and I assembled it quite easily, it’s very comfortable and somewhat swish after the rather ordinary one I’ve been using for probably 20 years!
So today more drawing and I have art group this afternoon in the village, so a lovely day for me 😊

Good morning from the NE where it is -3 with a hard frost. Woken by a neighbour scraping the car and sitting with the engine running.
I won't be leaving the house today, maybe tidy the kitchen cupboards, I like to sort them frequently.
SIL arrived home in Brussels, journey was okay but he said St Pancras was bedlam.
I heard last night that M&S in our town is to close, shame as it is the only shop that also sells food. When it goes we will be left with charity shops, coffee shops and a couple of downmarket clothing shops.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is -4 outside here at the moment, and was only 8.8 in the house when I woke up at six so I overrode the timer and whacked the heating on! It has currently managed to scrape up to 10.9! I am supposed to be going out with the walking group this morning, but I just don’t fancy the early start, so I’ll walk locally and then drive over to DD’s as usual and call in on my niece on the way home. I have a haircut scheduled for five o’clock.
