and come and finish off all the half eaten boxes of chocolates and sweets.

There are Matchsticks, Thorntons, Hotel Chocolate Gingerbread chocolates, jelly babies, Elizabeth Shaw mints, sour kittens and a trifle bowl full of mixed Heroes type things.

I have managed to keep my weight steady over the Christmas period but.......

I have a large bag of goodies in spare room that I am trying to find a home for. 2 boxes of shortbread, box of biscuits. 3 large size tubes of smarties there was five of them but I have eaten two myself, box black magic, large bag of Little Elf biscuits. In living room 1 box of turkish delight and box of after eight mints. One set of grandchildren keep asking me to come to their house they know I always have sweets and chocolate but must be careful as they get crazy sugar rush when they have too much and are then jumping all over the furniture so I don't want to upset their mum.

To have just one a day

I discovered a box of turkish delight I'd bought to give someone for Christmas, yesterday, and had forgotten about it. Now all devoured - but I'd happily help anyone else out with unwanted/surplus christmas chocolates!! My usband and I both had covid over Christmas, so we are now making up for lost time............................

I was pleased when we finally finished off all the Christmas goodies including a second stash that had been out of sight. Guess what, three times when DH has been taken to the shops he’s managed to find “the last box” of cherry liqueurs.
Obviously a husband to cherish but not at all good for getting back to healthier eating.
Hopefully they will be sold out soon.

It'll be Valentine's soon, then Easter. And yet more chocolates and cherry liqueurs! 🤣

My local Slimming World group collected up unopened chocolates etc from members and passed them to the local food bank. I'm ashamed to say I had nothing left in my house to contribute (as the scales testified grin)

Any unopened boxes may be appreciated by a food bank or a day centre. We never buy any so finishing them up not a problem. We were given 1;tub of quality street that I was going to re-home but my diabetic hubby munched the whole lot on 2 days, which is why I was going to re-home them.n

I was going to suggest foodbank too. We have a collection point in our church porch and its very convenient to dispose of the unwanted “ treats” as well as more everyday items.

Fairycakes Sun 21-Jan-24 11:05:09

I'll definitely have the Thorntons 😋

Only this morning a friend told me that she rang her local fire station and asked if they would like all her left over Christmas goodies. They said "YES" and so she took them to the fire station. Apparently they were very grateful! smile

Purplepixie Fri 19-Jan-24 10:49:23

Yes please!

kittylester Fri 19-Jan-24 10:07:41

Ha ha, witzend, you don't know how much we had to start with!

Witzend Fri 19-Jan-24 09:49:58

I’m serious impressed that you’ve still got so many left! We had lots, but they were all gone at least a week ago.

I tell everyone I don’t like chocolates or eat biscuits unless homemade shortbread yet every year I get boxes of them. I usually buy neighbours and refuse collectors a big box or tin for Christmas as it’s a nice sharing gift.
I just don’t understand why people waste their money buying them for me DH only eats a bit of dark chocolate weekends.
Four boxes are going to the food bank this weekend it will be a treat for someone at least. I have a jar of sweeties I buy for GC visits I will nibble at though.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 19-Jan-24 09:16:11

I am happy to share your Prosecco Kitty unfortunately I am not a chocoholic so cannot help with the chocolates 🥂🍫

kittylester Fri 19-Jan-24 09:10:00

We also have prosecco left over but I am prepared to force myself!

Bonnybanko Fri 19-Jan-24 07:01:32

I’ve a bag of marshmallows, the marshmallows are the size of my fist, ready to give to my youngest grandsons, I kid you not they are really huge they’ll be eaten on a stick by the fire. We’ll all have a fun time

kittylester Fri 19-Jan-24 06:40:57

Ours are all half eaten packets/tins/boxes or I would have dropped them off at the village food bank on one of my regular drop offs.

NotAGran55 Fri 19-Jan-24 06:18:52

The Trussell Trust food banks would be very happy to take your excess stock off your hands. Or any food bank, community larder, soup kitchen etc.

Throughout the year we receive lots of food and drink gifts from our visitors and I tend to put most of them away until Christmas, so when the season comes around I always have a good store of fancy chocolates/biscuits/wine etc. Unfortunately my (teacher) daughter-in-law brings her stash of edible gifts too (though she has also been known to eat her body weight in sweets and chocolates). Soooo - they’re all available to be munched on, but with three good meals a day the uptake is more limited than I would hope for and when the family leave I try to ply them with the remaining tubs, boxes, packets etc., but to no avail.

Right now I still have a tin full of assorted chocolates and sweets, several tubes (smarties, munchies, millions etc.), three or four bars of Swiss chocolate, a box of Breton biscuits, a packet of Italian cantucci, a box of chocolate dates and a rather large tin of Russian chocolate wafer biscuits. Oh yes, and a big box of Thornton chocolates……and I’ve just remembered there’s a nearly full pack of toasting marshmallows.

Fortunately I have three grandsons descending on me tomorrow, so I’m hopeful that when they leave on Sunday they will have eaten some and take some away with them.

Grannynannywanny

I’m working my way through the remainder of a large box of Lindt truffles opened last weekend when the grandchildren were here.

Within an hour of eating one I need a dose of gaviscon. I think your jelly babies would be easier on my digestion Kitty. I’d be happy to pop round and swap them over. I’ll bring some gaviscon.

I'll take them off your hands, Grannynannywanny

I could bring you some probiotics left in fridge by DD in exchange 😃

flappergirl Thu 18-Jan-24 22:26:50

NotSpaghetti

I have no chocolates here (and only one small box gifted) but I can offer an electric toothbrush grin

Which might well come in very handy after this chocolate fest.
