Hi all, your meal sounds lovely Dusty and a helpful manager, Italian is a favourite.
How exciting Yia you may be offered bit parts, famous at last!
The works are moving so slowly SueD, it must be so frustrating, kittens are keeping you on your toes as a distraction.
Very clever * llfl* it looks very at home there.
Well that’s annoying brook perhaps if you find somewhere that suits ‘en masse’ you could negotiate a discount.
A quiet day today, wet, grey and chilly, enough is enough now, I’d rather have frost and blue skies.

Scapa1 Tue 12-Mar-24 20:23:41

Soop sorry to hear you have had more bad news. Don’t ever feel bad for sharing on this lovely forum you yourself give support to so many people. flowers

gillgran Tue 12-Mar-24 20:25:09

Oh dear, we've had another very wet day, our garden is not flooded but absolutely saturated. The fields are becoming a worry for our local farmers & growers.
Hoping for some dryer weather.

Sorry to hear more of you have had added worries, my warmest thoughts to you all. x

brook2704 Tue 12-Mar-24 21:19:44

Blimey my last post says temping bowling but should read tenpin bowling, I think I’ve invented a new game 🤣

SueDonim Tue 12-Mar-24 21:23:14

Argh, I missed the Soop’s out of my earlier post! 😱 I meant to say I was thinking of you both, Soop. I’m sorry you’ve had more bad news. If you feel you do want to share, the beauty of the Kitchen is that it has broad shoulders on which to cry. flowers

That’s a shame for you, Brook. I hope you can find another home-from-home for you all to go to.
Such a cheery loo, LLFL. 🌺
GrannyGravy, I’m not sure which is the life skill - swimming or being able to deal with two small ones at once in a swimming pool. 😂

The visit to the vet went ok. The verdict was that she is teething along with a large dose of being a fraud. We’ve instructions to be firm with her. 👀 Both kittens are on a starvation diet overnight as he must not eat now until after his op. Maybe she’ll be grateful for her food after that!

My car passed its MOT so that’s another thing sorted. It was valeted, too, so resembles less of a farm yard right now. That’ll only last until GD gets into it tomorrow. grin

Night nigh, all. Xx

Jaxjacky Tue 12-Mar-24 21:59:28

Oh crumbs, I too didn’t send soop a kitchen hug 🌷.

cornergran Tue 12-Mar-24 23:12:08

Unusually active week for us. Clearing the contents of two large wardrobes used more for general storage than clothes plus cupboards and the under ottoman bed space in preparation for new carpet next week. Still a way to go. Our conservatory resembles a warehouse, or even a down market jumble sale grin.

We’ve two granddaughters with birthdays this week. Celebrated with one in her home yesterday, her mum and partner provided a delicious buffet for 10. Tomorrow it’s off to a pub for a meal with her sister who will be 18. I’m rather shocked! When we moved here she was 7. Where does time go? Saturday we’re invited to her party which sounds loud, frantic and frankly not our thing although we’re so touched she wants us to go. We’ll stay a while and ship away.

Discovered today a shed roof is leaking. Once the bedroom havoc is over I’ll empty it and dry anything that needs drying. Our son assured me he has roofing felt to spare and yes he has time to do it. We’d not ask, they are both so busy and have enough hassle in their lives without our DiY. We’re grateful for the offer.

The eye hospital appointment to investigate the ‘oddity’ found at my recent eye test has been brought forward by a month. Mr C is worried in case what was seen was suspicious. Me? I’m just pleased it will be April not May. I’m sorry your appointment wasn’t all that reassuring brook. Good for you for being so positive. I’m a drain on the NHS at the moment. Have an MRI on Friday. Very shocked to get a call to book it, the referral was only a week ago.

Time for sleep now. Love to all with personal mountains to climb. Thinking especially of soop, blossoming and urms. TOYA . Sleep well everyone.

Urmstongran Wed 13-Mar-24 14:17:43

Hello? I’m the first in here today it seems at 2pm! You must all be busy today. I’m just popping in to let you know that Himself has booked me a Jet2 flight out to our happy place this Sunday for 5 nights. He has persuaded me to go - insisting he is well enough at present to look after himself. He isn’t allowed to fly as he is receiving chemo treatment but next week is his ‘week off’, he is looking and feeling well, gaining weight and eating pretty much whatever he fancies these days - we even joined friends recently for a restaurant curry! I’m sure I shall feel a little apprehensive and emotional but Himself said ‘Go, woman!’. He is, as you know, the kindest most selfless (and bravest) of men. I had to come in to share this news with all you lovely folk as you continue to support us wholeheartedly and your concern constantly humbles me.
x

brook2704 Wed 13-Mar-24 14:53:25

Oh Urms that’s really good news, how very kind of your DH - I know you’ll miss him dreadfully whilst you’re away but you can recharge your batteries and hopefully enjoy some warm sunshine for a few days. I’m so pleased for you xx

Grandmachrisy47 Wed 13-Mar-24 15:03:44

So pleased you’ve decided to go. Have a lovely time. Your dh will take pleasure in giving you time in your happy place.

soop Wed 13-Mar-24 15:12:50

Urms. How lovely of your dear husband to treat you to a well deserved break. Enjoy every precious minute.

I do not feel able to unburden myself right now. Far too many of our Kitcheners have problems of their own to manage.

I shall not go too far away. In fact, I may sit in the quiet corner and enjoy your company without chipping in. Is that okay with you lovely lot?

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 13-Mar-24 15:17:40

Of course Soop!’and Urms, I’m so pleased you have accepted Himself’s kind offer. It will do you the world of good.
I have been doing some Easter baking. A large very rich chocolate cake and a batch of chocolate ice cream. OH has gone to Windsor to buy some bee things.
I’m off to the local History Society this evening. It’s a five minute walk.
Have a good evening - and you’d better start packing Urms!🧳

Urmstongran Wed 13-Mar-24 15:25:18

No packing necessary LLFL that’s part of the joy. Just my passport, boarding pass, kindle, keys, phone and iPad and I’m good to go! Oh and blood pressure tablets …. 🤣
✈️

Blossoming Wed 13-Mar-24 17:14:56

Good evening dear Kitcheners. MrB’s ECG today revealed no heart problems, so on to the next tests now.

Urmstongran Wed 13-Mar-24 17:16:21

That’s good to hear Blossoming.

Grandmabatty Wed 13-Mar-24 19:11:39

Good evening Kitcheners. I've had a bad day today and feel rather unwell still. Urmston that's a lovely thing for your DH to do for you. I hope you go and enjoy the sunshine.* Blossoming* it's ticking things off a list, isn't it? Ladyleftfieldlover your baking sounds wonderful. Sadly I have lost my appetite and have no desire to make much. Leek and potato soup for lunch and oven chips for dinner. Soop please accept a quiet hug of sympathy.
I am thinking of the bairns of dunblane primary school and their teacher who died at the hands of an evil man 28 years ago today. One of my colleagues lost a beloved niece. May they never be forgotten.

Scapa1 Wed 13-Mar-24 19:15:30

This day the 13th March 28yrs ago was the worst day imaginable here in Dunblane. Sixteen innocent Primary one children and their teacher a lovely woman were killed and others injured. They were waved off to school as usual in the morning to somewhere they should have been safe. The aftermath was awful and will never be forgotten especially here.

Jaxjacky Wed 13-Mar-24 19:50:57

Hi all, corner we have tests coming through quickly at our local hospitals so I hear from my Monday voluntary phone calls.
Very productive llfl I don’t bake and neither of us have much of a sweet tooth, so it would get wasted, but I’m sure yours will be thoroughly enjoyed, enjoy your evening out.
Good news Blossoming it’s horrid, you don’t really want anything found, but need answers.
Sorted Urms!,
Busy day for me, viewing a car with my son and MrJ as chauffer, my son is a late driver, his test is soon. Then to the library, my book was finished last night, I have to have a book on the go. MrJ joined me this afternoon watching Cheltenham, we usually go with his family, good job we didn’t this year (knee), so my 25p e/w gambling kept me entertained.

Jaxjacky Wed 13-Mar-24 19:54:05

I’m sorry Scapal and Grandmabatty I started my post before yours were up, I wasn’t being disrespectful.

SueDonim Wed 13-Mar-24 20:14:19

Dunblane has not been far from my thoughts today. I had a five day old newborn baby and could scarcely believe what I was hearing on the radio as reports came in. It will always be etched in my memory, the contrast between a precious new life and lives cruelly snatched away just a few miles down the road. These few lines from AA Milne’s poem resonate for me.

…Now I am Six,
I'm as clever as clever,
So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

brook2704 Wed 13-Mar-24 21:08:39

Those poor innocent children, such a tragedy, they will never be forgotten

Yiayia4 Wed 13-Mar-24 21:59:48

Dunblane was such a terrible tragedy,we must never forget.
Good news Blossoming onwards and upwards.

Spoke to my G.P today and she’s given me some stronger medication and appointment asap to see my Rheumatologist not the best news.
We won’t stay here with the filming Jax they will be using most rooms and about 50 people in and out so,sadly I won’t be famous this time.🤣
Have a great time Urms enjoy every minute.🌞🍸
Rest up Grandmabatty and get well soon.

Sleep well Kitcheners.

cornergran Wed 13-Mar-24 23:08:30

Take it as easy as you can grandmab, perhaps your body needs to rest to recover. Good if frustrating news blossoming, hope your husband has an answer very soon.

How lovely of your husband urms, a few days away will do you so much good. Shame you won’t be famous yia, I’m sorry you’re disappointed with the outcome of todays call.

I hope this won’t be insensitive as people are thinking about lives lost at Dunblane. Our elder granddaughter reached 18 today. She’s a beautiful girl inside and out. We’re very proud of her. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal with her and her boyfriend (brave lad), her sister, her Mum, Mum’s partner and her Dad this evening. Very special to be part of a relaxed blended family

Time to settle for sleep now. I’m thinking of soop and all finding life a challenge at the moment. Sleep well everyone.

Night night. .

Feelingmyage55 Wed 13-Mar-24 23:26:45

scapal. The saddest of memories today. I remember the moment I heard. Such heartache.

Nannytopsy Thu 14-Mar-24 07:35:20

Morning! I feel as if I’m on the wrong thread!
Suffolk is calm and sunny - what a shock! We will see my DB & SiL today as they are on holiday in Norfolk. We meet about once a year.
Urms what a treat and a chance to recharge. Enjoy your happy place.
soop - a gentle hug for you.
Well I had better make a start to the day. Hope you all have a good one.
