Kipling bags. Any good?

I’m thinking of buying one of their cross body bags. Does anyone have any experience of the brand and are they any good? They seem to be fairly expensive considering what they are made out of. I’m trying to find out where they are manufactured - information that seems to be missing from their website (and even M&S’s website).

I was looking for a lightweight cross body bag big enough to hold daily essentials and found a perfect Kipling bag on Amazon. It was about £40 but meant to be reduced from £80.
I thought even £40 was a lot but I’m delighted with it. It is lovely quality, very well made.
I confess I didn’t like the monkey on mine though. It was metal and I threw it away. Didn’t realise they were popular 😊

Cheesey, they are collectibles. 🤣

Collectables!

They are made in the worlds biggest shop: China, where else 🤷‍♀️

Leather bags have been too heavy for me for years. I don’t dare say how many Kipling items I have, all colours, shapes and sizes from purses and small cross body bags to totes and a large black bag I used for work which carried absolutely everything. There used to be an Outlet at Bicester where I found my first, it snowballed from there. I could and perhaps should part with some now, I suspect I won’t.

I do agree though they can be expensive, they do also last forever. As has been said TKMaxx sometimes have them, QVC also can but not necessarily sell at less cost. I think my best bargains have come from sale items on the Kipling web site. In my experience orders arrive quickly and are well packed.

Maybe look at some in John Lewis or indeed any stockist to see the quality greyd , if you’re happy with it then look on the Kipling web site and via Google for price comparison. You never know you might get hooked and find they multiply smile.

They are not stylish but are very practical, esp the cross body bags. I have 3 Gabbie S bags. I always know where my keys are, they have several good compartments. I had mine from ebay, yes quite pricey but they will last a very long time

OldFrill

Jaxjacky

According to Google made in Antwerp.

I only read 'developed and designed' in Antwerp. They give no clue as to where they manufacture.....

Looks like it’s China OldFrill .

My absolute favourite bags, mainly because they are lightweight and they have plenty of pockets. And I like the cross body ones best. They last for years. QVC often have special offers.

I can't carry anything heavy, Kiplings are so light. Also have similar Hedgren bag bought in TKMaxx.

I have three, one is a discontinued style so may be valuable in the future. They have lots of pockets, which I like...they are lightweight and the little ape draws smiles. Be warned though, they are not waterproof. I had to throw away a phone because it got wet during a downpour.

Thankyou for all your helpful comments. I shall do a proper search tomorrow based on them and see what I come up with. I’ve got my eye on one particular pattern, but it’s not available everywhere (even at JL) so I may end up going to M&S after all.

I came across one in Oxfam. Bought it for £10 and gave it to GD complete with monkey. She seemed very happy.

I really do regret getting rid of my Kipling bag. It was fab.

Yes, I have several. They pop through the washing machine and some of mine are years old but still look as good as new.

Ive got a few of them, various sizes. I have bought all mine on Ebay for a fraction of the cost of new, making sure they were all marked as ‘excellent condition’ and checked the photos throughly. Very pleased as they are lightweight and durable

As with everything else (it seems) these days, not as good as they were. For example, the lanyards for keys are not being included any more, and the material for my latest bag (a backpack) seemed slightly skimpy compared to my existing collection. But that being said, if you can find them discounted, they're still good bags.

PS it might be worth looking for secondhand ones on eBay or Vinted...

Haven't a clue...but he does make exceedingly good cakes and writes good books too! grin

Nannyowl Tue 06-Feb-24 11:18:55

I have been buying Kipling bags for many years now and love them. I have all different sizes, colours, shapes and have 1 for every occasion, even suitcases. If you are new to them, Amazon sometimes have try now pay later or QVC say you can return within x amount of days if you don't want it. Maybe purchase second hand or on sale to benefit from cheaper prices.

Greyduster Tue 06-Feb-24 11:20:02

Let’s hope he makes exceedingly good bags! I’ve ordered one from John Lewis!

Blondie49 Tue 06-Feb-24 11:20:05

My friend has a Kipling bag and my Amazon one below seems just as good in wearing well and use as hers and lot cheaper

Beau1958 Tue 06-Feb-24 11:20:42
