Kipling bags. Any good?

I’m thinking of buying one of their cross body bags. Does anyone have any experience of the brand and are they any good? They seem to be fairly expensive considering what they are made out of. I’m trying to find out where they are manufactured - information that seems to be missing from their website (and even M&S’s website).

Not a Kipling bag but a purse. Had it for years and if the quality of the purse is anything to go by I'd not hesitate to buy a bag.

I always wanted one but couldn't justify the price. About 10 years ago I bought a used Fairfax from Ebay, lovely bag, but by the time all my clobber was put in it,.it expanded......

Needless to say, I haven't used it since. Beautiful bag though, excellent condition, grab handles, xbody strap. I bought myself a travelon hobo last year as I liked it, currently sitting in the same box.

I have loads of them, different sizes, colours and styles, large and small, plus a purse, plus a laptop bag (x2). They are virtually indestructible and wash like new. They are practical personified. I'd recommend them any day of the week.

I have bought a few Kipling bags from Amazon and find the prices cheaper than shops.

I cannot get my head around the idea of paying all that money for a plastic handbag!

I've had Kipling bags for years, including their luggage.
Extremely durable. Would highly recommend.mebd.
My handbags are cross body but with grab handles (2 handles) which I find invaluable when not draped across body as strap quite long.
I've also got a Kipling drawstring bag I use regularly for swim stuff etc.
Oh, and I use a Kipling purse daily.
As you can tell I'm a fan of Kipling but wouldn't pay full price so shop in Outlets or online for bargains.

Kipling is Belgian (just like me 😜) but by now headquarters are in New York it's a very good brand, my grandson uses the swimming-bag I bought for his father!

I've had a few and really like them. My latest converts to a bum bag, which is useful when I'm out cycling.

This has already been established. Where are they made?

annodomini Tue 06-Feb-24 19:48:36

When I looked at Kipling bags on Amazon, one I liked the look of was 'Made in Cambodia'. I imagine that the work is farmed out to factories in countries with low pay and zero workers' rights.

Bluesmum Kipling and similar brands are not plastic. They are good quality fabric.

Gwenisgreat Tue 06-Feb-24 20:19:26

I have one, have had it 5 or 6 years, still looks good, would recommend them!

henetha Tue 06-Feb-24 23:29:04

Plastic! Absolutely not, surely. Mine feel sort of canvas. They last for years and are marvelous.

OldFrill Wed 07-Feb-24 00:18:59

According to Kipling they are made from recycled polyester and/or recycled nylon. I think previously they were made of the same but not recycled.

OldFrill Wed 07-Feb-24 00:19:14

So yes, plastic

DrWatson Wed 07-Feb-24 03:01:17

London Luggage seems to have a sale on right now, but I didn't compare exact prices, for all I know QVC and others have sales on too?!

Marthjolly1 Wed 07-Feb-24 09:51:18

I have to apologise. Perhaps these bags are made of plastic 🤔.
I've just had a good inspection and feel of my Jouney bags and perhaps what I've always thought is fabric is actually plastic. There are no labels to say what it is made of.

henetha Wed 07-Feb-24 10:23:45

Well, I'm surprised, but it won't put me off using them as they are just my cup of tea.

Plastic is used in many things so is here to stay but I think we should all be aware of plastic which is used in things that don't last for a long time. The good thing about Kipling Bags is that they do last. They also have quite a good resale value too.

Well, I now have my Kipling bag and am pleased with it. Just the right size, light, lots of pockets and plenty of room for all my junk essential items! I’m not frantic about the metal monkey and thought about changing it for my Radley dog, who never gets an outing these days, but he said it was beneath him! He’ll only be seen hanging out with leather!
