Im mostly a crochet person, which l still do for household patterns but
l havent picked up my knitting needles for years. Iv got a yen to have a go. Iv got box full of vintage patterns in my loft and l feel l might get hubby to get them down this weekend and see if there is a easy quick pattern l can do. l wasnt a great knitter, l couldnt do cable or fair isle, and the patterns had to be really simple .
l used to buy womens weekly that had free knitting patterns every week, ( do they still do that ?) when my children were little and make all their knitted jumpers/cardigans, mostly for our summer hols or winter.
When they were babies l must have made mountains of shawls, mattine coats etc , l even remember knitting in 3 ply wool for babies vests, took me forever to knit lol. Then latter all the dolls and barbie clothes.
l never once made myself any thing, it was always for the children.
Now, no one of my grown children generation seems to knit any more
l see lovely hand knitted children cardigans at crafts fairs but they dont seem to be bought very often
