Good Morning Saturday 17th February 2024

Good morning Mick and everyone. Just a quick hello/farewell from me today as I'm so late getting going today after a very restless night's sleep. When I first looked at the day it was foggy, then it was bright and sunny, now it's grey and cloudy. Rain's on the way methinks. It feels very mild.
Before it comes I think I'll pop down to the beach and have a look at access for our proposed tai chi on the beach event. Coastal erosion has been very bad here this winter so I'm not sure what I'll find.
Apart from that just a day of pottering around home - always pleasant.

Good morning from another sunny day in Oxfordshire, we’ve been really lucky with the sunshine, hopefully it will dry up our squelchy lawn so that I can get the mower out, although it’s a bit early.
I cleared my potting shed out yesterday, some things I need to clean, copper pans etc. then sell, not sure why they were in the potting shed. Also a lovely old Singer Sewing machine which I’m loathe to part with as it has all the attachments, including a ruffle foot, not likely to ever use it, but I can’t even lift it, so it will go to the Charity shop. MrOops will have to deliver it.
The oil tank chaps went off with the keys to the lock so they should arrive today, they can also collect their tools that they left!
Most GNs seem to have exciting things going on, I’m just house clearing ready to move!

Good morning from a very grey East Midlands. First day out after operation and it is going to be a bit strange. Just a ride out in the car with my youngest son. Takeaway for tea tonight.

A late good morning from a cloudy but dry Northampton, Tony Blackburn's Sounds of the Sixties playing on Alexa as I write.

Had two good dance classes yesterday then went for coffee afterwards and called in at the paper shop to pay my bill.
Moved the empty freezer in the garage to make room for the new one which arrives on Tuesday; also moved the larder fridge to a new position; the new freezer will then sit nicely next to it.

Had a pleasant evening at my recently bereaved neighbour 's; he had invited all of us in our little close for drinks to celebrate his late wife's life. It was a lovely thing to do. (I fear I drank too much wine.....)

A bus trip to the shops later this morning to pick up a few things for the weekend and have a coffee and a bite to eat.

Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast.
Art yesterday then a quiet afternoon, FaceTime with flying DD in India who had been to the Taj Mahal and then started watching The Gilded Age, I like anything produced by Julian Fellowes.

I had an early night as I have been so tired recently and hopefully some early nights will help. My new fleece duvet set is very cosy, but does get rather hot.

I’m taking Little Dog and DD2s laundry back later, then we’ll take DGS2 somewhere, while his Daddy’s at the football match.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk but rain is forecast later. Apart from a Waitrose delivery later the day is ours to do as we please.

Ithink we will go to the common a few miles away for the morning dog walk which always involves coffee and cake in the dog friendly cafe “Paws for tea”. Treats are always given to dogs when drinks arrive.

Everything is flourishing in the garden which is delightful. As well as the best display of snowdrops for a few years,primroses and daffodils are in flower in sheltered parts. Such a pleasure to see.

Good morning from a dry NE where it is fairly mild.
Didn't do much yesterday just hoovered all of the upstairs.
Had a lazy dinner, a pizza but had a bowl of salad with it.
This afternoon my sister and BIL will visit and they will have my undivided attention as DS is not coming.
DS, DIL and GD2 are going to the Bill Bailey concert in Newcastle. They will probably turn up for dinner tomorrow but have not had confirmation yet.

DS is due to arrive by lunch time so must make sure domestic organisation is up to scratch. I look forward to an intellectually energetic 24 hours and need to be on form. Dry and bright weather wise though heavy rain predicted for later in the day so must make the most of the chance to potter outside for a little.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. I am late on parade today having had a good night’s sleep for a change! The weather is dreary and set to be wet all weekend. Both DD and DS phoned me for a chat yesterday - DD because she hadn’t seen me all week, and DS to say he would call in for “a quick coffee” after attending a football match on Sunday. Today is a blank page at the moment. I may fire up the laptop and have a go at scanning some photos.

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is bright at the moment, yellow warning of heavy rain from lunch time. Yuck.

Yesterday passed in a flash, an active volunteering morning, Tai Chi and a top up food shop in the afternoon. Oh yes, Mr C diverted us for a coffee after Tai Chi, think he sees it as his reward for going. Our goddaughter pendulum has swung again, a disturbing call came in the evening.

Other than lunch in a small garden centre no enjoyable plans for today. Must change the bed and catch up with admin I’ve been avoiding.

Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Good morning from cloudy mild Cambridgeshire. Having a shopping excursion to a retail outlet with my sister and DD2. Then home and a meal out with DH just the two of us to a local pub playing music tonight! Just wondering how new airfryer was Mick. We invested in a new updated one a few weeks back and on the whole successful. Have a good Saturday everyone.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 7°C. I really must get up, but DH has brought me a hot water bottle for my joints, I am quite happy to stay in bed!

Yesterday, I popped up to see DD with some flowers, an excuse to check up on her, as I am worried about her. Her face is still badly swollen, despite the antibiotics and I have urged her to seek advice.
I had forgotten what it is like to drive in our town and her village on a Friday afternoon. Thank goodness, my working days are over. It was like Wacky Races! Everyone seems to have forgotten their manners and the Highway Code!

Vigil Mass tonight and Babydoll is coming for lunch, which will be a tonic. She has started climbing up the furniture, we will need to batten down the hatches.

Good morning all, it’s dry but dull at the moment in my corner of South Lanarkshire.

We took the children to soft play yesterday as a last day of school holiday treat. They both thoroughly enjoyed it and tired themselves out.

I’ve a few Brownie badges to sew on for one of DD’s girls, she saved them up for me.


I’m meeting a couple of friends this afternoon for coffee and that’s the size of my plans for the day.

Good morning from W Kent. An online food delivery man cheered me up yesterday by saying I didn’t look my age (I do), I don’t know why they ask your dob is it a marketing thing?
DH still struggling with his bad back and leg, between the two of us we are now marooned at home. DD has invited us to lunch tomorrow but I think she will be collecting us.
Today pottering including washing and ironing. Roll on Spring.

I got all the work done that I wanted to do in the garden yesterday so am pleased about that. Had my lunch outside too.

Today I’ll put the slow cooker on and get rid of some more things no longer wanted.

Good morning from Glasgow. I have no idea what our forecast is for today but so far, damp and cloudy.

I am meeting up with a cousin today at a nearby hotel whose large enclosed terrace with blankets and cushions do delicious coffee and cakes. Lots of blethering as usual and a chance to sit outside whatever the weather.

Yesterday the plans changed because dgs1 had been up with sickness and diarrhea and was still unwell so dd cancelled her hair appointment. I had a fruitless attempt at delivering wool to the community centre until I realised late last night I was trying to deliver to the wrong village! I felt very foolish. I visited dd and dgs2 was very glad to see me. Dgs1 was still in bed. Poor soul, he's had a rotten start to the year with one virus after another. In the afternoon I visited mum but only stayed twenty minutes. She slept most of the time.
Today I'm meeting a friend for breakfast at the local garden centre. It's our venue of choice because it's close to both of us. Thereafter I'll do the housework and washing. Before I meet her, I'll do a food shop at Aldi. I dried dd's sheets etc in my tumble dryer, so if she doesn't pick them up, I'll drop them off later. No idea what I'll have for dinner yet. Possibly an omelette. Have a good day all.

We have a beautiful sunrise, but I think we are due heavy rain later. I need to pop down the road to the butchers to pick up a chicken for dinner tomorrow, then pop into Aldi.

Early evening we will pick up GD (6) and her brother (4) and take them to dinner in the local Turkish restaurant. Then back to DS’s to get them into bed after numerous stories (DS & DiL are going out with the her Father and stepmother)

Younger son has gone back to London. I dropped him off in Oxford yesterday and then did a bit of shopping,

Good morning from a damp South Downs. Drizzle expected and later heavy rain all night. Mild though.

The squirrels have taken to the new feeder with enthusiasm, and I must order some more food.

My old terrier has been prescribed metacam as he had got very slow. Well I worked like a miracle and he is now running around much more like his old self, but a couple of times I forgot to give it to him and it didn’t seem to make any difference, so I started giving it to him every other night. But now I think I’m wrong as I have noticed that he has more restless nights on the non-medicated ones - so perhaps is discomfort. So I will do what the professional expert advised!🙄

Today is free - hoorah- so I shall take it as it comes.

Salt and pepper Prawns with mango salsa and rice for supper.
