Good Morning Tuesday 20th February 2024

Good morning from a dry Bristol. We had the most fabulous sunset, presaging good weather. A sunny day?
How disappointing for you Mick. Does another company do something similar at the same period?
Yesterday went well. We had 30 parents (one was a dad) at the toddler group; many were minder with at least two toddlers. You can imagine the noise! It is a very popular group, being cheap and local.
In the afternoon, at WI, we had a very interesting talk by the local Air Ambulance. They deal with an average of 5 call-outs a day, which seems a huge number.
More people are getting used to my face and my attempts to engage them in conversation; two people talked to me!
Nothing planned today. More sewing to finish the patchwork.
I’ve invited my upstairs neighbour to tea, I may invite a sweet widower, her neighbour too. He seems quite lonely. I have “tamed” him with marmalade - not just a breakfast jam then!

Yesterday dgs2 and I picked up parcels for dd then spent the rest of the day playing with cars mainly. And eating. The boy can eat! Dgs1 had a good day at nursery. His wee pals were so glad to see him, it was heartwarming. Although I was tired, I tidied up the mayhem last night and felt better for it.
Today will be much the same. Nursery drop off and pick up, playing with cars and eating. Dgs1 has asked for homemade pancakes for breakfast so I shall naturally oblige. Have a good day all

Good morning from a mild Torbay where we also witnessed a spectacular sunset last night. The bare trees at present in our surrounding parks enable is to watch the sunsets in their full glory.

We were very interested in the Air Ambulance when we had a talk from their representative recently at Wednesday Club, grandMattie. I admire your willingness to help with the Toddlers’ Club - I’d worry about tripping over them!

It must be disappointing regarding your trip, Mick so I hope you can find an alternative means of getting there.

It sounds as if you had a good day, Grandmabatty, despite the lack of sleep. Hope today is similar.

After my exercise class yesterday, we enjoyed a walk along the Downs and back through Tessier Gardens which are showing beautiful signs of Spring with polyanthus, daffodils, crocuses and some beautiful camellias (?).

I’m with the boys as usual. Both up, breakfasted and dressed. One is playing with a huge cooking pot which he’s filling with wooden vegetables. Maybe he’ll be a chef like his late grandpa, and his uncle!😄

Good morning, Michael, and all GNs. Still dark and a little cooler in South Yorkshire. Yesterday afternoon I had a walk around our country park. I was amazed at the masses of blackthorn blossom in the hedgerows - I’ve never seen so much and the scent coming off them was lovely. Hopefully there will be a lot of sloes to follow. I also got some good photos of herons on the island in the lake. Last night I couldn’t get any of the apps on my tv to work. I ended up watching them on my iPad! Terrestrial tv was fine. More irritations! Volunteering this afternoon.

Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day. The shop raises money and awareness of our local Air Ambulance. Many think that they are part of the NHS but they are not.

Morning everyone, it’s 6 here and cloudy.

Off to an indoor play centre first thing with DD, DiL and four GC 😱 I expect it will be noisy and busy, the children will love it.

Afterwards I shall go with DD and her boys to hunt for the right sort of football boots as the 9yr old couldn’t get any yesterday.

Yet another warning for rain tomorrow, we are awash here. The fields either side of the road to my opticians were like lakes. My sister says it was 42 degrees at her house in aus yesterday, unbearable. Give me wet any time

My new glasses are remaining clear and clean, lovely and comfortable too. They always take a bit of getting used to but eyes quickly adapt

Good morning all from a dry and mild North Leicestershire.

It is 'Sing it Happy' today. It really does lift the spirits. We have to collect my medication from the pharmacy, a parcel from M&S and take one of the cats to the vet.

We had a lovely meal in Derby with DD1 and family last night only marred by DH crashing my car into a car belonging to one of their neighbours. Oops! Glad it was him not me!!

Good morning from a dry morning after an amazing sunset here last night as well.
Charity shop run this morning, I cleaned up and tested a 1906 sewing machine yesterday, still works perfectly, but I am awash with sewing machines and it’s sooooo heavy to lift onto the table to use, some interesting attachments though. So that’s off to the Charity shop as well. Also tested my steam press, still works after 11 yrs in its box, I might iron some sheets whilst I’ve still got it, then that’s going as well.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I am taking my car to the local garage later so they can have a look at the rear window windscreen motor. It’s not working so it’s either a fuse or the motor needs replacing.
OH is seeing a physio about his knees this afternoon. Yesterday he had an asthma checkup. In a couple of weeks he’s seeing a urologist. Obviously he’s a little anxious about all these medical appointments!
He’s at his shooting club tonight and I’ll pop round to be a friend’s.

Such energy and stamina you all have Grandmabatty Bella and gMattie, your families, friends and neighbours are very lucky to have you.

I enjoyed yesterday’s stint in the shop sorting out the bookshelves. It was very satisfying to arrange them into sensible sections, we shall see how long it lasts.

An early appointment for blood tests then DH and will attack the shelves in the garage. I intend to be ruthless.

Good morning from a dry cloudy South Downs.

Yesterday my garden plans failed to materialise, as after the housework, I felt too lazy so sat and read.

The garden seat arrived and slotted nicely into place. Looks a bit brand new at the moment - will hopefully soon look more weathered. The pergola around it has The Generous Gardener rose and Princess Diana - a clematis texensis - but it suffers a lot in dry weather - so I’m wondering whether to replace it. I hate grubbing up plants that give me so much pleasure. I’ve tried heavy mulch etc to no avail.

Still on my intermittent fasting - lost 1 pound last week. One thing that scuppers me a bit is that every time I make the bread I can’t resist cutting off the warm crust and slavering it with butter!! My self control is very poor.

Plan to give the shower a deep clean today and rake the little Japanese zen garden - the foxes love playing in the gravel, so my careful lines are ruined😄. They in fact use it as a bed in the summer. Then perhaps begin to cut back the ornamental grasses.

Morning Mick, morning All from a clear corner of Somerset.

Yesterday went to plan. Mr C had an MoT at the surgery, BP etc as they should be, may get blood results tomorrow. I thoroughly enjoyed my (very long!) coffee with my friend. I always feel guilty as she has quite a long drive. Checked on our little river later, it’s coping, just. More heavy rain coming this evening and tomorrow.

Once this mornings grocery delivery is put away we’ll wander out in search of bits for Sunday when we celebrate two birthdays, the family are heading here whuch will be lovely.

Reading about childcare with the little ones always makes me nostalgic for our days of chaos. Then I recall the tiredness and know I’d struggle now. Wishing all those looking after little ones the best day.

I’m pleased the ice is thawing at the WI grandmattie. That’s a shame Mick, hope the next trip goes to plan. Oh dear kitty. Our tv does that sometimes greyd. So far turning off at the wall and waiting a few minutes has done the trick.

Good morning, it’s actually a dry start here in south Glos for once!
DH took the dog for a long walk yesterday so I finished tidying out the kitchen cupboards, not much to actually throw out but at least I now know what I have!
That’s pretty much all the cupboards and drawers in the house done now 😊
The wandering walk with the dog late afternoon was lovely, a spectacularly beautiful bright orange/pink sunset as we came back. Photo is from the village facebook page, I didn’t have my phone with me unfortunately.
Many shrubs and trees are starting to come into bud, always a very welcome sight.

Good morning from a dry W Kent. Yet another day indoors but quite a bit of sorting getting done. The cleaner was very chatty which is unusual. Apparently she looks after her small GS four afternoons a week and says she has no time to herself.

Strength zoom class this morning & a spot of garden tidying whilst it’s still dry. Hate grubbing around in a soggy garden. DH off to a hospital appointment. Don’t fancy his chances on getting a parking space. Rain forecast for this afternoon so I will stay in & get on with my cross stitch. Carvery booked for tea. A no cooking day.😃

Good morning everybody. Sorry about your planned coach trip Mick - so disappointing. Maybe another coach company? I have flowers-in-bloom envy, Ash - still in the swathes of snowdrops up here. And sunset envy Roses. We used to have some amazing sunsets here, but I haven't seen one for a long time.
It's a grey day here after some really gorgeous ones lately, but as it's tai chi and shopping today that doesn't really matter. This afternoon, after a night of only intermittent dozing, I shall no doubt sleep like a baby!

Marydoll I know you have a reaction to certain medication but it could be a virus. Dgs1 had it on Thursday night and Friday and dd picked it up from him and was ill on Saturday. Hopefully it'll pass soon

I had a very constructive day in the garden yesterday, at last.
It was mild and sunny as I pottered about at my own pace which inevitably includes a coffee break. Bliss.

Scripts to collect, PO to send off a parcel to DD2 in OZ then possibly a visit to TK Maxx at some point this afternoon in the search for a pair of round mirrors and a general rummage.

Grey I had a similar apps problem last week. I tried the usual switch on/off to no avail and they magically appeared the following evening without any effort of my limited technical knowledge. Good luck.
