Good Morning Saturday 24th February 2024

Good morning from a hazy, moonlit Bristol. I couldn’t see any frost, but suspect there is a light one.
It appears I have “glue ear” on the right which would explain my one sided deafness. Grommet in a couple of months if the steroids don’t clear it up. However it is sorted out, it would be wonderful not to have my voice and heartbeat echoing inside my head.
An empty today, apart from the church coffee morning. I’ll be able to get on with finishing the patchwork; I’ve had such an unexpectedly busy week.

Good morning from s somerset. No rain today, hurrah

Sleep is back on track and I disabled bedroom alexa. She woke me up the other night by loudly playing a song when she should have been silent. I want to go and hunt for a small bedside clock with luminous numbers and hands, rather than asking alexa the time

I started knitting mouche the bear, the most complicated pattern started with 4 stitches in a circle. I gave up after two hours when I had 48 stitches and had done many short rows. Two stitches slid off a short dpns and I could not for the life of me incorporate them again. I will start again today, will use a safety pin to hold stitches and more markers

Must do a fast walk this morning

Good morning from a damp Torbay where we might see some sunshine later. Yesterday brought wind, rain, sun, hail and even a little snow in places!

Our trip to Lidl was marred by the store having been rearranged so neither we, nor some other shoppers, could find things easily. Added to that, staff from the Dartmouth store had been drafted in to help stow a large delivery so there were pallets and crates to negotiate (or trip over!) too! I know, first world problem!

I hope the steroids work for you, grandMattie, and you will have a more relaxing time over the weekend.

Tonight we shall be going to a Murder Mystery Evening at a nearby bistro in which two friends from Toads will be performing, which should be fun.

Good morning from the South Downs where we seem to be one of the few places where rain is forecast -again!!

All through the winter I am accompanied by the robins lovely clear song, even at night if I’m out with the dog, they sing near a street lamp, and yesterday I stopped and watched a pair - husband and wife I assume as they shared a branch from which they were flying down to the ground and grabbing food and back again, occasionally one (I assume the male) fed the other.
What a lovely time of the year!

Nothing planned, except what I’d planned yesterday, as I lost my motivation yesterday and sat knitting and reading instead. Quite pleasant though. I was sat in the conservatory and there was a sudden massive commotion - it was Tofu - the delinquent next door cat seeing off a black panther (not really he just looks like one) from the garden. Tofu’s territory clearly encompasses our garden as well as his own. He only got away with the racket because our little terrier is not almost completely deaf.

Sausages for supper which is definitely not part of a weight reducing diet - but I fancy them.

Good morning everyone from a still dark but moonlit Northampton. Up early as I need to get to the shops this morning and be home before lunchtime. Alexa tells me it is -1°C outside. I may have breakfast out if I have time, in which case I won't bother with lunch.

Had a lovely.chatty lunch out with two friends yesterday then one of them invited us back to her place for coffee, where we proceeded to put the world to rights.

Out this afternoon to the theatre to see 'The Nutcracker', have seen it before but a different production is always a treat. It's a Bulgarian ballet company.

A chilly day ahead, so wrap up warm!

I'm feeling much better after an extra long sleep. I cancelled my commitments yesterday and will probably avoid mixing with folk today.

Good morning from the Essex coast. A light frost on the cars, but a sunny if not chilly day forecast.
DGD2 is 15 today and her and the family are going to the Bear Grylls experience in Birmingham. I'm going for a visit next week and can't wait to see them all. The last time I was in Leamington was October.
Yesterday evening we had a quiz at the Yacht club and our team won, wow what a surprise. Six teams, a good turnout and a good amount of money for the club.
Today will mostly be watching Rugby on the TV.

Morning Mick, morning All from a very chilly corner of Somerset and yes, rain is forecast.

There is now an immaculately tidy office cupboard and yet more shredding to be done. Tai Chi was less fun as for a reason no one understood there was no heating in the hall. It seemed a long hour. A restorative hot drink later it was on for some shopping bits in preparation for tomorrows family get together.

Excellent news came late at night. Our friend was spending her first night in a new care home. Mr C doesn’t know , he was asleep when the message came, you may well hear cheering. He’s found all the tension difficult.

Not sure of the shape of today, a wait and see day. Hoping for no repeat of yesterdays hailstones or indeed the snow our son drove through on his way to collect his daughters. Enough now!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very chilly South Yorkshire. There is a hard frost this morning - a shock after all the recent mild weather but there is a beautiful sunrise. I am going to a pottery class this afternoon with DD. We are meeting in town for lunch first. It will be a new and interesting experience for both of us!

Good morning all from Plymouth. Activity in the Sound is starting up, and the day looks as though it’ll be cold but bright.

Another battle to be tackled trying to get important meds into Bruno, my Border Terrier who has complex health needs in his old age, bless him.

Anyone has child who thinks you’re “Bank of Mum” and that’s the only time you hear / see them..? . I wish I knew how to manage my feelings about it; depressing really.

Still, I’ve taken up learning how to play my keyboard; the hubster is delighted to hear me practice two keys over and over because I just don’t seem able to remember them!!

Hoping also to see my first grandchild (3 months old with her first cold) later; I bought her a darling new outfit, and a pot of “Snufflebabe” vapour rub, and I’ve offered to take her out to give Mum and Dad some time to catch up on sleep…

I’m starting to enjoy my retirement, but it’s taken some getting used to!

We had a lovely lunch in Mumbles yesterday before driving home over the Brecon Beacons.Sixteen miles from home there was a 37 mile diversion😫😭We eventually got home about 8.30.

This morning we will finish unpacking the car then we are going to DD1’s after lunch.

Today is DH's birthday. AC and families are coming here for lunch. DH is doing an indoor barbecue. It's his favourite celebration even though it's February.

Good morning from a clear, still & bright Sefton. It is very cold. All the cars in the road are two tone. Every car roof is white.
No plans for most of today but off to meet up with DS2 & DiL late afternoon for a pre theatre meal then off to see Matthew Bourne's Edward Scissorhands. I have seen most of his productions more than once but this is a new one for me. Very much looking forward to it.

Good morning from a cold but sunny W Kent. Busy day yesterday collecting new glasses and having ear’s syringed at the surgery. DGD1 spent the morning at hospital and they have decided that she probably doesn’t have an appendicitis but a nasty viral infection. She is seeing how things go over the weekend with the option to return if there is a further problem.
Quiet weekend, DD2 and family are away for SIL’s birthday.

A delighted GD1 FaceTimed me yesterday afternoon to let me know she had just passed her driving theory test. Now the driving test! 🤞
Day of this and that, start a new book and watching rugby with DH. No demands on my time is welcome.

Frosty start to the day but anything is better than rain though there is some in the forecast. How I hate February! DD due to arrive early afternoon so must check that all is as it should be to meet her eagle eye. Will be lovely to have her company for the weekend.

Morning from a very chilly South Lanarkshire, quite a sharp frost at the moment.

Home from a lovely few days in Connel where it didn’t stop raining unless it was snowing! So no walks in beautiful scenery but very happy times catching up with the family. DD picked me up in Glasgow and brought me back down yesterday so I didn’t need to risk the Polar Express as the Oban train is now unaffectionately called!
While I was waiting to be picked up on Tuesday I had a coffee and cake in the Concert Hall cafe where we have our Glesca Grannies meet up and thought about you all!

Back into town today to meet DS for lunch which I’m looking forward to. I have an emergency appointment with the chiropodist first, made while I was away, so I must push on.

Good morning, it’s a frosty morning here in south Glos, as the ground is damp I suspect it’s slippery too.
I have no doubt I will find plenty of things to do this weekend, including dog walking, so I’m hoping that it’s dry out for a while. Living on top of a hill I cannot believe just how sodden and squelchy the fields are. We have very free draining stoney soil but it’s completely waterlogged everywhere you go.
I actually walked up a slope where the whole surface was running water.

Good morning from a bright and very frosty Suffolk. Yesterday was sunny and bright which was most unexpected. My friend and I decided to meet at one of the beach carparks in Lowestoft and obviously many others had the same idea as it was full when I arrived.

That one is free but there is another close by which is a pay and display so no problem. It was lovely to see so many families with children and dogs on the beach and prom,not surprising as it has been half term in Suffolk schools this week and this was the first decent day.

We had planned to meet for coffee but decided to extend our walk and have lunch…a box of chips and a mug of delicious tea….well what else do you have at the seaside?

We will have a dog walk this morning locally and then a quiet day at home doing necessary but tedious jobs like changing the bed etc. I hope today is a pleasant and peaceful one for all especially for those unwell and worried.

A quick pop to local shops this morning, a lazy afternoon and then out to dinner (Magic Mushroom) with DS4, DiL and their children.
