Pattie Boyd selling her love letters.

I’ve googled Sandie, Britt and Patti and I’m quite happy with my look at 77! No Botox either!

They have not worn well. Not lying around in the sunshine on yachts, taking drugs and generally living in the fast lane have served me well. I don’t have short hair and I wear makeup but I’m glad I don’t resemble what some of them look like now. ‘Old dogs’ comes to mind.

I was doing ok Callistemon until my hair decided to jump ship. At least those ladies had fun!

I bet your face is doing a lot better than Patti et al, Kate, if the photo you posted of your hair is anything to go by. You still looked the epitome of a 60s girl, but in a good way.

I saw Patti after she was married, on the steps at Chelsea.
I would not have known her, I had to ask, who is it?
They had a fluffy dog with them and a lady in a wheelchair. Iremember her hat. She looked lovely, happy, they both did.
This was about ten years ago. She seemed short for a model.

Clapton’s letters are cultural documents - I wished she had bequeathed them to the V&A - perhaps! V&A will buy them.

I am surprised about this as I don't think she has ever said anything about either of them before. She must have plenty to tell about those times and I always admired her for that when you think what other people have done

I saw Pattie at a house she had just bought. She must have been in her early 60s then and she looked absolutely stunning and very natural, She was very friendly and nice. Both George and Eric visited as soon as she moved in and seemed to be very friendly and just seeing if all was OK. My husband saw George and the following day I saw Eric and he shook my hand, I am still trying to get over it even though it must be 20 years ago!

All you ladies' comments about youthful and older appearances remind me of a funny quote that I read in a biography of Elizabeth Taylor. When the lovely Liz was older and had gained a great deal of weight she went on the political campaign trail with her then husband Senator John Warner.
When the local matrons(no insult intended; I'm one) came out to see her they commented "oh , all our lives we've wanted to look like Liz Taylor; now, God help us, we do "

She said plenty about them in her autobiography Loretta !

Oh dear, Eric doesn’t look quite as I remember him either.

Still, he is late 70’s.

I always felt that George should have married me. He was a big part of my life. I still love him. My family refer to him as 'your George.' I could never figure out why he chose a beautiful top model and not a poor girl from the back streets of Birmingham! And yes I did meet him once (sort of). Seriously though, Beatles fans always hated the wives. I think Pattie has had a fabulous but sad life. Neither of those men treated her well, especially Clapton. I don't think badly of her for selling the items. I'm sure she has hundreds more. You can view the items online if you are interested, which I was.

George was by far the most beautiful of the Beatles, extremely photogenic and enigmatic. He could've been a model or muse himself. Plus he was a Pisces, like moi, so I can understand his draw to spirituality.

So basically Kate1949 he was obviously destined for me. I just don't understand what went wrong!

It does seem a bit wrong.
When I found letters sent between my parents, just before and after their wedding - I burned them, as I felt they weren’t mine and meant for no other eyes, but theirs.

I read at the weekend that she did ask him before she put them up for sale.

The letters are still subject to copyright. The author of the letter is normally the first owner of copyright in their literary work. Copyright lasts for the life of the author plus 70 years.

The recipient is the owner of the physical object.

Where the owner of the letter is not the copyright owner, they must first seek permission from the copyright owner before reproducing the letter. However, copyright does not prevent the recipient of a letter from showing the original letter to another third party as this does not involve reproduction.

This would prevent Christie's reproducing any of the content in its sales catalogue or any buyer from, say, reproducing, the content of the letters in a book without the express permission of (presumably) Olivia Harrison or Eric Clapton.

It also doesn't stop the owner of the letter/book/painting etc. selling the original. What it does control is the use to which the item can be put. I own several pieces of original art. I can sell or give them away, even destroy them, without the creator's permission but neither I nor the new owner can reproduce the work.

I think it’s in poor taste especially with Eric Clapton still alive.
