Hi, the mood I'm in this morning is feeling I want to walk out the door and escape and do something new!
Plan an outing somewhere... buy some new clothes. Join something different.
Is it the spring?
What do you peeps do when you feel like that?

Georgesgran So if you do have a DH , you go off on your own ? Not a word.? Not a good way to live.
Obviously if you are on your own you can consider only yourself. But DH and I consider each other.

Loopy did you manage to escape for a bit? I know exactly what you meant this morning so hope you feel better

I go to the seaside.

henetha Tue 05-Mar-24 23:28:36

Same here, fancythat. The sea beckons me often.

Peeps?

What I do miss is the sea which is odd as I live in the middle of the country and couldn't be further away. When I escape there, not very often, I can just sit and can look at it, walk along side it and go for a paddle, content with my own company, I often feel lonely at home on my own but not by the sea.
Those content to just be alone at home for long periods and are content I admire because after a while I have to escape.

Hi everyone! Tx for replying.
Yes I do have a DH and at the age of 80 and after major surgery he has just gone back to work full time.
So I think I am reevaluating things and making new plans.
Peeps. That came from a comedy show years ago.
My escape yesterday was to get on the bus and go to local hospital for a scan. To be told the lump on my sternum was perfectly normal. So came back and had a lovely lunch at new local cafe.
Saw lots of beautiful swans on the pond.
While DH was ill and recovering, my social life suffered so need to rebuild it.
Tx so much to you all.

Just do it, life's too short.

Not everyone has a happy marriage 🥲🥲🥲

I phoned a friend for a last minute outing. Actually I phoned four friends. The first 3 had other plans. The last one was delighted and it has cheered her up. Win win.

Being on my own now, I would go on a longer cycle ride, I am only 5 minutes from somerset countryside. I would love to re-create a similar ride to last year, I put my lightest bike into my boot, then parked up and rode through the levels. The magic happened because a lone deer ran alongside me, me on the lane, him in the grass. Mile after mile of pure magic

I also get that uplifting feeling when I take a longish bus ride to Wells, I always get chatting to someone or other and I get to walk around cathedral grounds, seeing the swans in the moat. I buy myself a treat and take the bus back home

Let's all resolve to do something nice for ourselves (and maybe a chum) out and about now that Spring is beckoningsunshine
Now when was the last time I fed the ducks?

nipsmum Thu 07-Mar-24 13:35:13

I cook, bake and knit or generally keep myself busy.

Dempie55 Thu 07-Mar-24 13:42:33

I like a train trip to somewhere I’ve never been, with one night in a B&B! My next escape will be to Ludlow.

GrauntyHelen Thu 07-Mar-24 16:59:41

I do the same as lixy and as my bus station is a hub for Citylink and National Express it's quite exciting!

Jules59 Thu 07-Mar-24 18:47:25

What a wonderful idea ! I must try that myself. What an adventure! 🤣

Mt61 Thu 07-Mar-24 23:17:15

If only I could escape, dad with Alzheimer’s, mum on the brink.. it takes its toll….

Mizuna Fri 08-Mar-24 06:55:58

Occasionally I get on the first train out of my town, very early, and buy a Ranger ticket which gives me unlimited travel anywhere in my county for one day. I jump out at whichever station takes my fancy and catch the next train in the opposite direction. I take a book and a flask of tea and come home feeling I've had an adventure. (This is only until I can discard my crutches though. After that the world will be my oyster.)

loopyloo Fri 08-Mar-24 07:49:25

Mt61. You have all my sympathy.
Do your parents live with you? Or close by.?
All I can say is get as much help as possible.

yellowfox Fri 08-Mar-24 07:55:31

HI ' Loopy Loo' I've been ill the last three weeks with the latest bug going round and feel desperate to escape.
Apart from holidays I've been looking at day trips from my local coach companies and am going to book a couple.
Something to look forward to escape to somewhere different for a day.
Good luck

I arrange to meet friends or family in the near future. Go for a long walk in the fresh air. Do some yoga.
Guess I'm quite a boring person really. I worked 2020 during covid, retired Xmas day. We were all still restricted with what we could do and I realised I was, mainly, happy with it..I talked, video called friends and family and that still carries on. I keep an eye on my elderly step mum & phone my even more elderly mum every day (she lives 200m away) guess I'm pretty content most of the time.
